Early retirement is the dream. I refuse to accept that I have to be at the end of my life to enjoy time freedom. Let's hustle to financial independence!
FIRE
FIRE MOVEMENT BABY! I made a video on it last week, feel free check it out
Retirement gets pretty boring after a few months. Being able to work on your own terms feels better to me. I still want to make money, build things, grow, and learn. Sitting around collecting rent isn't that interesting.
lets get it!!
Opportunity is out there for all of us! 💎

Amen to that!!
HOW to retire by 24:
1. Start working at 13
2. Save all your money for 11 years
3. Live in a van, down by the river.
Retiring at 24 is "a bit" of a stretch. One would need at least $1M by 24. To get to $1M by 24, one would have to invest at least $1k per week during 8 years of very great investments. Taxes taken into account. That's just an approximation. That means being able to generate an EXTRA $50k per year at 16 only, after essential needs are paid. Retiring that early is not about saving a lot of money, it's about making a lot of money, which is obvious. It's not impossible, but 99.999% of the teens won't achieve this. We are 280 000 viewers of that video, he is the 1 creator of that content that brings him an income. We are currently the 99.999%, he is currently the 0.001%.
There are people who hate their jobs but they do it for the money and hope to retire maybe 10 years early, so they will continue working unhappy during 30 years. And there are people who maybe doesn't make the same amount of money but they love their job and they don't even think about retirement.
Instead of trying to escape the work-life by wanting to make more money to retire early, it would be wiser to simply learn to enjoy every single day, including workdays. We all have to work in order for the society to run smoothly.
Chris Farley, nice
Live with your parents until you’re 24 start working at 18 save all your money invest in real state start flipping/ renting
Truth
Éric C. Or create passive income, people don’t HAVE TO rely on savings to retire early
One of the best pieces of advice i’ve ever heard from the FIRE community is “always think in terms of opportunities.” We make our own luck in life, so we have to be actively looking for opportunities that can improve both our finances and personal growth, and always act on them.
Absolutely.. there’s no such thing as luck but there is very much such thing as thinking smart and putting enough out there for things to bite and stick.. these fortunes that bite and stick from hard graft and thinking smart is what unsuccessful people call “luck”
@@MarzellCrypto working smarter not harder! also many people do not understand the importance of daily habits that compound, its not about doing the BIG things, but doing a lot of the little thing over time.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope we all prosper and live out our dream careers.

@@AlvyMacias I hope so too man, all the best! You got this 😁
The Money Management thank you and same to you ☺️
The reality is, most people won't even entertain the idea of early retirement because it just seems impossible. If you spend little and work hard early, it's more likely than one would think.
Well, I personally think life loses all meaning if you don't work. Look at someone like Elon Musk - obviously it's not like he *has* to work for financial reasons, he already has all the money in the world. But to do something meaningful - THAT'S what gives you purpose.
@@Deci_Bella I actually agree with you. But I think it's about feeling you HAVE to work versus wanting to. And plenty still work while being retired but do it as ''bonus' retirement money. Like they work part time on weekends at a coffee shop but don't need to.
@@financiallift6185 Well, the more successful you are, the more opportunities you can create for yourself. Naturally, 99.9% of all people won't be able to contribute on such a grand scale as someone like Musk, but still, you can have many choices. It's the attitude that you'd rather do nothing that I have a problem with - there is nothing but degradation on that path.
That’s a great point. Most don’t believe it so most wont achieve it 👍
My country taxes so high that it could never be achieved. These videos are just painful to watch.
Watching this again a year later and it's just as good as the first time I watched it. Hope the truck has been awesome!
Being able to work because you WANT to, and not because you HAVE makes all the difference!
This is key! I'd love being able to retire at a young age and doing something fun/easy for the rest of my life that basically just contributes to the bills
Facts. If I like a job I’m gonna work.
Dont get married and have kids, get into debt or get locked up and u are rich as long as u can afford ur lifestyle. U dont need to be a millionaire to be rich.

Well I just turned 26 too. Let's go for 30 years old, lol
The FIRE movement is alive and well! People don't necessarily want to stop working, but more so to have the CHOICE if they really wanted to.
Always negotiate from a position of strength.
Hi. What is the Fire movement?
@@amourtoujours779 Financially Independent Retire Early
@@amourtoujours779 Yep, just like ^ Jacky said, it's an acronym that stands for Financial Independence Retire Early! It's a movement that emphasizes living substantially below your means and investing a large chunk of all the money you make. By doing this, you will accumulate a large nest egg much quicker and will be able to retire earlier if you desire!
Someone commented on this recently. Live frugally to stop working to live frugally. Sounds like fun, not. Besides all, the people I hear about in the 'Fire movement don't retire fully in the traditional sene. A lot of them write a blog with adverts and affiliate marketing links. So still making money working just not a traditional. 9-5

Sometimes society makes it seem like retirement is only for older people, we’re taught to get a job work for like 40 years then retire, when actually there are other options, this was refreshing, love it
"If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die" -Warren Buffett. Like your strategy nate - keep on minimizing expenses and amassing assets.

I wanted to retire at 30. Now I'm mid 30s I've realized I only need to work and hustle half a year and have fun the other half. Best of both worlds. You never get bored. You actually start looking forward to work again. And when you're close to your goal you're looking forward to having all that time off again.
You know it’s a good day when Nate uploads. Retiring at 24, nailing it 💪🏼

Heard many good recommendations about ROCHELLE DUNGCA-SCHREIBER by some YT channels, Seminars and other platforms.
Financial knowledge is important for financial freedom. Always remember that.
Video ideas: a life story, your struggles, your goals/achievements, how you started your journey towards retirement. Thank you for the amazing video Nate!
I love this video and I love the way you're challenging the status quo of society and carving a path for yourself. I wish I had this foresight at your age (currently 24 now) and I look forward to seeing how you choose to enjoy your life once you are no longer tied down by the need to make money. As someone who has spent the last 6+ months taking time off from work to re-evaluate what's important to me in life and questioning how I might be able to re-imagine the world in which I live, I have found it incredibly healing and incredible to see beyond my own narrow perspective and gain more insight into what it truly means to be human. I realize that we are encouraged to spend our whole life working so that we are unaware or unable to engage in conversations of social inequality and social justice and taking this time to myself has really allowed me to educate myself and be more involved in these conversations. I used to think that life was just about achieving prestige and making money and living comfortably but now I realize that, at least to me, it's about leaving a meaningful impact on the world and moving our society forward in a way that creates more opportunity and freedom for everyone.
The FIRE movement is definitely gaining traction little by little
You're basically talking about FIRE (Financial Independence Early Retirement) which I started doing myself recently and had a great progress
1- Cut your spending
2- Maximize your savings
3- Utilize the savings in creating passive income
I'm quite sure hes aware of the FIRE movement
I would hate to retire at 24. I love my work and would actually be unhappy if I was to retire early. I will be building my wealth until my last day on this planet!
True, the idea is to be at a point you work because you want to, not because you have to
I really hope you achieve that goal, good luck bro!
I retired at 24 - it’s do-able and fantastic! Took me 8 years (17-24). I’ve documented since I retired at 24 in 2017. Cheers
It's important to live your life irrespective of social expectations! great video!
Thanks for sharing you viewpoint and plan about retiring early. It's great that you have made money goals at such a young age and are working to achieve them!
So happy you're uploading again! Your videos are truly inspiring. Keep it up Nate!!
Retirement isn't just "Material things" or having "Assets" retiring is having the satisfaction in life. Retiring is having the feeling of you've accomplished everything you want. Retiring is having settled in life and living a simple and meaningful life.
For a couple of days I am really getting into the idea of early retirement. Your video is absolutely on time😉
Such a great goal to work towards. Working a job our whole lives isn’t feeling right 🤔
Stick with it, the key is to find something to constantly remind you of the goal of early retirement. Best of luck to you
I hadn't started working by the time I was 24. Spent 5 1/2 years studying engineering.
Right!
So did I, now looking to achieve FIRE in next 3 years
True for most of us, but that’s alright... we can start from where we are✨
I'm 17 and for sure, I want to have passive income, I started investing etc. But I don't think that I will want to retire that fast. I'm interested in programming, graphic design and filmmaking and I love it. Live without doing these things probably would be boring
I totally get you, I'm 19, also investing money that I'm earning through my creative assets (my music). I also study computer science (but I don't plan on working in a company). I would like to retire early, about 30 is my goal. But retirement doesn't mean that you should do nothing. On the contrary, I will still create my art, develop games etc. because it fulfills me. Retirement for me only means that you are free to do what you want! You wanna work? do it. You wanna chill and do nothing? do it. You wanna create something? do it. You wanna look for a relationship? do it, the list goes on and on. I think that's what a lotta people are missing here tbh It's about the freedom.
You can retire and still work. Many people do. But they do it because they want to, not because they need it to survive.
This is exactly me, I turn 17 tomorrow, and I would want to have a life coding, designing and filmmaking. :3
Imagine a life where you could create the things you want to create, not because you need it to be successful so you can buy food, but because you want to create those things... that's what the early retirement idea is all about.
@@TheKillahKyla exactly, to move from the mere obligation of living to actually living
I plan to retire at 50 or earlier. Currently have 2 rentals, stocks, my own property management business, and a full time job ( 4x10s). I have Friday, sat, and sun off which leaves me time to pursue my freedom.
With that amount of assets, I'd be set for 400 years with my current lifestyle.
That's so on point!💛Fun and money both on alignment ..
When I found out I wasn't eligible for the stimulus check because I was a college student, I quit my job and signed up for unemployment to make 2x more than my job paid. With the unemployment, I've got out of CC debt and am starting a business on amazon.
For some reason I am big advocate of financial freedom and doesn't really understand/agree with retiring early. I get you need not to rely on one source of income, but maybe the definition of retirement is different for most people and I don't agree with how most people define retirement. That said, Nate your content is amazing and I wish you more growth and success for doing what you love!

I hit the age of 30...and realized that everything wasn't what I wanted it to be. It was an awakening. I've since tried to boost my income and will be starting to save aggressively, starting this month, to add to my 33k I already have. It's going to take me to the age of 45 before I hit 1 million in my portfolio, based on my calcs and projections...so it's going to take a while. I could maybe do it earlier, but it depends on how some things play out. I'm looking forward to FI, because I'm deeply unhappy at my job, but it's stable income and I'm good at it. I just want to be able to have the CHOICE to do what I want...which is what money provides you.

Hey Nate. Really like the concept of this video. My goal is to retire when i'm in my early 30's (26 right now). So right there with you on your mindset. But I would appreciate it if you made a sequel to this video explaining HOW you are going about it right now. Most of the video was conceptual which was fine. But I think an in-depth version on your actual "plan" would be informative and relatable to all people who are trying to retire early. Thanks!
I agree with the sentiments in this video Nate. For the past couple of years I had felt incredibly unmotivated towards what I was studying in university because I realized that it just didn’t interest me all while also hating the part time job I had to pay my way through it.
I’m glad that I decided to change course and although I don’t know exactly what I want in life just yet. One thing that I do know I want is financial stability. I don’t think I need to be “rich” in order to have this either. I hope you’re able to reach your financial goals and even if you don’t know what awaits you after you choose to retire. Having the freedom and financial safety net to choose what you want to do in life is something that I think everyone should strive for.

Teen advice on how to increase financial iq, and get a knowledge similar to yours in order to even have the option to retire at 24
having the ability to make your own schedule it's an amazing and very fulfilling sentiment. I guess the idea behind is to work when you feel like it not necessarly stop working all togheter. Most of us probably would want to volunteer to do something meaningful but feel kept inplace by a job that doesn't fulfill them just pays the bills.
For myself, eventho I have a job, i still schedule my day in a small notebook and it does bring me small bits of joy knowing that I've completed tasks that I set up, not someone at the office.
🙏You're so inspirational! I suppose no matter how young a person is, they should always try to live their life to the fullest, or set themselves up to be able to do so as early as possible! This video really hits home with me; thanks!
Hey Nate, retiring at 24 is a bold move. I wish you the best. I also want to reach the point where I can retiring early and enjoy life to the fullest.
To be honest, this is very bold!! I say this with a smile on my face!!
I wish I had started thinking like Nate sooner but never too late! I'm 24 and I just brought a house for passive income purposes. My plan has been to grow my wealth by maintaining or decreasing my expenses as my income increases. I live in NYC but am really cautious about my spending and released a "how to save money" video a few weeks ago (inspired by Nate). Saving and investing are key! It's all about making the right moves in order to set yourself up for freedom and financial independence. I plan to retire by 30 :) And I'll have more time to spend on causes I care about instead of a job weighing me down.
Find a job you love and the whole retirement discussion is moot.
In college economics classes they teach the labour-leisure model to show the relationship between real wage and hours of leisure. Inherent in the model is that labour and “leisure” are mutually exclusive: if you actually enjoy your labour the model doesn’t apply. Says a lot about how our society defines work as something you don’t want to do
He starts the actual advice at 9:30. You're welcome.
Thanks Josh...He sure talks a lot about nothing. All fluff, no substance. This is a total clickbait video.
I’m 24 now, I’ve been planning to retire at 25 since I was 18. Very similar mentality and plan as you describe here. Coronavirus has set me back a year so now I’m looking at retiring at 26. Very interested to see how things go for us. Glad to know I’m not the only crazy person out there 😅
I’ve been talking with my dad a lot lately about wanting to be able to retire no later than 30.
He’s worked his way up at the same company for 30 years & has another 10 years until retirement. He works from home now and travels a lot, but only after 30 years into his position does he have the flexibility for it.
I told him I can’t see myself being stuck at the same place for that long waiting for life to start at 60, but he’s stuck under the impression that there’s no way around it. 🙃
I’m afraid of not being there for my kids all due to my job!
One of my best friends here and I discovered we're both quite Mustachian and we're both engineers. He got laid off though at the beginning of the pandemic and was out of work for a few months. As gungho as he was about FIRE before that, he quickly became 'bored af' and eager to work full time again, even though he did woodwork, scuba diving, camping, you name it, and is satisfied in his love life. He found a new job though and seems to think developing the frontend is quite simple and leaves something to be desired.
The point overall in the case of my friend, he seems to have learned that what he previously thought he wanted is not what he actually wants now, but would be a path to boredom. So finding something to do you like is important, that might only come from experience and not research. And that's controversial, I think Call Newport among others says passion is overrated, and you like something by getting better at it. Maybe it's a personality difference, I don't think I get bored as easily.
Spilled thoughts but I'm still figuring it out. Retired at 24 and just watching TV all day would be lame AF but being say a contractor who helps 6 month out of the year could be a compromise, and that's not exactly being retired.
And while I'm at it, the best investment in my opinion is large tracts of land. Land is a buffer against worst-case scenarios where the stock market plummets 90% in a single day and your earnings STILL can't keep up with housing costs. Land has intrinsic value and can almost always be converted into arable and/or grazing land. Very VAST tracts of land can be continually subdivided into smaller plots, so your children and grandchildren can live independently. This actually attracts more wealth right off the bat because honestly the kids are more likely to entice a high-income spouse under those conditions. Most high earners live in cities but people naturally prefer a more bucolic lifestyle. If they get a dowry of a few free acres that offsets their commuting costs.
Now THATS a goal to have. Love the quality Nate has taken on. Retire debt free!!! 😄
Debt free is always the move
Getting groceries at 10am on a Tuesday. That's my go-to saying when I talk about featuring asap and being financially independent and have time freedom.

I LOVE that you made a video on early retirement, because usually it’s not something that younger people in their 20s and 30s really dwell on. The key to early retirement is financial stability and good planning. Good luck and I hope that this is something that everyone who reads this achieves ❤️❤️❤️👋🏻👍🏻
at 22, i thought i was too old and behind the ball to start a retirement plan LMAO i was smart enough, but not informed enough; the information wasn't as readily available as it is today. i also didn't make enough money at the time and didn't even know a way to make the kind of money that would enable me to strategize more than one year into the future. now i'm in my 30s. i'd gone back to school and gotten my bachelor in business administration last year. and with my current (and growing) salary in defense contracting, enough stock market winners, and a little bit of luck, i can realistically retire inside the next decade if i wanted
I'm 27 and I'm only now making steps to retire. Thanks for the inspiration, I appreciate it
I like the idea of a hybrid retirement that is not governed by money but by passion.
I'm 24 now, and started focusing on financial freedom just about a month ago, i wish I started many years ago but at least I haven't discovered this at 60, it's a very tough journey, and the amount of information that internet throws at you is overwhelming sometimes, but my goal now is to be free at 30, I wish success to anyone reading. Embrace your dreams.

We’ve been taught so many wrong things in our life, it’s a challenge to change, but our lives can benefit at any stage 😁👍
@@RealLifeMoney I appreciate hearing that. I have found that my efforts to make changes at this point in my life are not only complicated by my situation, i.e. children, house, etc., but also by the way that I view myself and change. I have continued to chase education and am pursuing a Ph.D. currently, but I often wonder if my decision to do this was more of the same or something new. Still working on making a different reality everyday.
Nothing with it is easy
The most that we can do is take a step forward and improve everyday. We may even move backwards but at least we’re moving. Keep going my friend 🙌
For everyone ouy there, keep following your dreams, stay positive, be consistent, may you all be succedful!
Thank you 🙏🏻 you too 🤗
Me seeing the title: 🤯
Me realising I’m about to launch my online business in the coming weeks at 15 years old: 😁

Wohoo, good luck!!
chezzi 1 I have done reselling for 2 months on eBay and made about 1.5 thousand, and now I’m setting up a dropshipping website on Shopify that is nearly ready 👍🏻

Not 24 anymore and wishing I could've heard this before but still really enjoying this video and taking notes , as always your videos are brilliant, thank you Nate
too drunk to understand this right now, be back later
It's not all about retiring early. It's about enjoying life. That is why you pick a career or profession that you enjoy.
Him: I’m going to retire by 24.
Me: I’m going to have just graduated undergrad at 24 🙃
me start phd at 24
Don't even have my undergrad at 28.
Me started working at the age of 27.
Become an investor like me and I can retire. I’m in my 20’s too
Michael Post ugh show me your ways...I was really starting to invest right before the pandemic and then suddenly lost 2,000 in a day. I’ve been scared to start again ever since lol.
Smart Man!
A more realistic, and most likely fulfilling goal for someone your age is to find a career (not a job!) that you really enjoy. As they say, if you do, you'll never "work" another day in your life!
This is terrific! It's great to see you again, and you look good, stay well!
Amazing! You’ve done exceptionally well for being your age- hope it all works out! 👍🏻
Great video, very clear, concise love how you break down work into units.
I retire every weekend, and a couple of times a year for a week or so. works pretty good.
Im 26 , and I want to start living my own life
Wow, you are already talking about retiring at 24 and here I am trying to find success at 39...
Same! 😂💪
I've been learning about investing and early retirement for a while now and I've always wanted to live life on my own terms. Brilliant content as always and keep it up. Can't wait to see your videos in 2 years time man!
Nobody:
Nate O'Brien: How I plan to retire at 3
How I retired in the womb
@@NateOBrien haha love that
How I retired before my parents even thought about me
Nate O'Brien my name is billy misner and iM a BilLiOnAiReS sOn!
Love it! I'm 27 and I follow a similar path to what you described since I've been about 14 y/o. My situation required me to help my parents, so I wouldn't be able to retire early, however, I was able to create myself a life that I wouldn't imagine being possible a few years back. This includes traveling more often, quitting a job with an annoying boss, and basically having enough to live from for about a decade, including the support of my folks. The next step for me was to share my knowledge on investing and so I opened up a blog that hopefully would inspire 20 something-year-olds to do the same (it's in Hebrew, otherwise I'd really love your opinion about it). Wishing you all the luck!
