XOP Ambush VS Lone Wolf Hand Climber II

- XOP Ambush VS Lone Wolf Hand Climber II. In this video, I compare and contrast the XOP Ambush sit and climb with the Lone World Hand Climber II. Both stands have some advantages and disadvantages. One detail I forgot to note in the video is that the Ambush Climber's seat can be pushed back and you can lean up against the tree if an animal is in close and you want to try to blend in better with the tree. You can't do that with the Lone Wolf. The seat on the Lone Wolf is rigid and can't be pushed out of the way so you can't lean up against the tree and therefore are easier to spot by the game animal because you have a higher chance of being silhouetted from the tree.
If you want to order an Ambush Climber stand, please consider using this link because I have an Amazon Affiliate program and they give me a little kickback when people order through one of my links - amzn.to/32IkcM0

Good review and comparison Sean. You do a nice job editing your videos to add information when necessary. Thanks for all you put into our sport to advance it in a Godly and positive way. God bless.
Thank you!
Just discovered your channel. Just the comparison I wanted to see. Thank you. Have a blessed day !
You are welcome. Thanks for checking out my videos. God bless.
Great review Sean! I think I’m going to look into the ambush!
Cool, there’s a link for one in the description.
Nice video and comparison! You're always so thorough! I guess I should get a Lone Wolf, and retire my very old (antique) TREE LOUNGER!
Thanks, Brother Ron. God bless you.
Love my tree lounge.....but it's definitely out of date....
Great review 👍
Thanks
I have the LW sit & climb- similar to that XOP, also have the assault hand climber. I replaced the sit & climb seat with a webb (hazemore) seat- absolutely love it.
Great
Maybe next year I will be able to buy a tree stand, just recently started archery and I'm addicted 😁 great video!
Thanks!
I used to be 100% treestand hunter, but in recent years have been getting far more aggressive bouncing between different public lands and getting into bedding areas where ground hunting is the only option... I enjoy both, but being on the ground has a whole different level of adrenaline rush
Great comparison
Thanks
Great video! That's my next investment.
I've gotten a lot of use out of mine.
Thank you for the review. I enjoy your videos. How has the XOP climber held up over the years? I like how you share scriptures.
It has been great. I did have one issue with it making some noise when I'd sit on the bar and I called and asked them about it and it just needed some grease in there. I had to take a bolt out and grease it and it was fine after that. It is nice getting to sit down in the climbing process. I only use it on shorter hunts though as it is heavier than my Lone Wolf.
I'm late to the party but am looking at lone Wolf and XOP climbers now. My Loggy Bayou has seen enough. Thanks for the review!
Genesis 21:20
You're welcome!
Thank you for the honest review. How is the seat comfort between them?
To XOP is probably a little more comfortable over long periods of time because it’s not as rigid as the lone wolf
If the lone wolf bar isnt fixed be nice to replace it with a bent one for a mod to use on bigger trees. Thanks for the video.
They can be removed but I think the average person might have trouble fabricating something like that.
@@seansoutdoors probably right, shame the one on xop not same size at :)
I have the hand climber assault. It's only 14.7#! But it does have a tiny platform. You can also buy longer straps for the lonewolfs that will go around larger trees! That's what I'm going to do
enjoy it.
Thanks for doing this review I have just stumbled across XOP after purchasing two fixed lone wolves. Hands-down I would’ve bought the XOP because the difference in price but when it comes to the climbers the difference in weight has me leaning towards Lonewolf. On the other hand though I believe the sit & climb Lonewolf is much heavier than the XOP
I just checked, the XOP is only 3 pounds heavier than the Lonewolf sit and climb so by comparisons I feel like it’s not worth the extra $200 for a drop of 3 pounds.
Yeah, I think three pounds is not a big difference, but I will say the XOP is quite heavy for my taste, so I only use it on hunts with a short walk.
@@seansoutdoors I’m leaning towards the Lonewolf hand climber for that reason, super light, I don’t know why it’s appealing to have the seat in the back to me, but I’m not an all day tree stand type of guy anyway so I think I’ll go with the Lonewolf hand climber.
If you have Facebook, do a search for a used one one Facebook marketplace. I've seen some in really good condition on there for as low as $125 but more often around $150. I bought one that way myself for a video I'm going to upload in about a week. I cut it in half to use as a saddle hunting platform... You'll see it in about a week if you stay tuned
@@seansoutdoors Thanks, good advice, I’ll check out Facebook marketplace. Yeah I’ll check out the video when it comes out, great channel!
If possible could you do a video on how you pack the XOP together for your walk in . I'm torn between what stand to buy XOP or Lone Wolf .
I'll try to do something like that. For long walks I use the lone wolf because it's much lighter
I'm actually watching this video because I'm torn between the 2 stands this year the xop or lone wolf sit climb 2
Awesome
Thanks
Love your channel! Are the traction belts the same because I have the lone wolf and the company is no longer carrying belts but I can locate xop ambush belts.
They look pretty much the same but I'm not sure
Hey Sean I’m hunting in NC for a buck that comes around for the pre rut/ rut every year, the weather looks good for the first of November but I’m wondering if that’s too early to sit for a pre rut buck?
I’d try it
Great Video!
If you could only pick one treestand or saddle to hunt public land what would you go with? I'm thinking of ordering a saddle but I don't know I don't have a good climbing treestand. Seems like the saddle would take some getting used to.
Thanks...
I’d pick my lone wolf climber.
Thanks...
Have you had a chance to hunt out of the saddle yet?
@@bobbygolden8322 Yes, I have used it about 5 times this year.
would you consider using top of lone wolf and bottom of xop ? two stands maybe would not pack well/ just a thought
I thought about it for about two seconds, but the base of the XOP is heavier.
Great Review! I absolutely love your idea of using Scripture recall for your contest! Much better than going to someone's, Instagram,fb, twitter and posting all kinds of FOUND HIDDEN CLUES! Good Looking out!God Bless You
Thanks
What's your thoughts on the xop vs summit aluminum climber? Seem about the same weight, looking into getting my first tree stand and not sure what to get
I prefer the casted platform of XOP. Welded stands have more flex and creek noises
Did you say anything about the XOP being a sit-n-climb vs the LW is a hand-climber? Kinda a major difference....especially in the WAY it climbs!
No, Lone Wold also makes a sit and climb so there is an equivalent, so I was going with the differing features between brands.
What diameter tree do you think is too large for the Lone Wolf and the straight crossbar? In 13 years of use how much of an issue was it? I just looked at the XOP site and they have the weight at 18 pounds haha. I guess 18 pounds without a seat. Is the XOP more comfortable because of the seat?
I’d say I. 13 years I’ve had an average of two hunts a year where I couldn’t get in a tree that I really wanted to because the tree diameter was too wide and there were several of those that the XOP would have worked on. The XOP seat is more comfortable because it’s flexible and can contour to your body a little. The XOP seat can be pushed out of the way when you stand up so you can get in tighter to the tree. Drawbacks are the weights and strap locking mechanism is slow and a little awkward/noisy.
What size diameter tree does the lone wolf begin to have trouble with? (You mentioned larger trees but wonder at about what diameter....? I have an API climber and its chain (with heat shrink wrapping) does not slide up tree very easy while climbing or descending...so I’m looking to replace my climber. This lone wolf stand looks promising...quiet, lightweight, and adjustability on cable.
Probably when you start to get around 20 inch diameter or somewhere around there. I've never measured .
Hey Sean. I’m hoping you can answer a question for me. Are the xop traction belts interchangeable with the lone wolf traction belts? I can’t find lone wolf replacement belts for my hand climber but can find xop belts. Thanks.
I do not think they are the exact same fit. But I do not know with certainty. You could call xop and ask for Cody and ask him. Cody basically runs all the xop gear, and his dad is the one who started lone wolf. I think he and his dad started lone wolf custom stands together and his dad handed it off to him and his sister or something like that. He would have no problem answering your question I'm sure. God bless you.
How do the rubber straps that wrap around the tree last? Do they dry rot? do you prefer those vs cables?
I like them. I’ve had mine for 14 years and they seem to be in great shape
Thank you for your videos! Super informative and really helps guys like me
How tough is it to climb with the XOP Ambush ? I want to purchase one but I see a lot of bad reviews about the seat getting in the way when you climb .
I think it's really easy compared to the hand climber in this video
Your thumb nail has wolf spelled "wold". Not sure if you did it purposely, but great video and good info.
Thanks I’ll change the typo next time I’m on a computer. Thanks
do you know if the xop cables/traction belt is compatible with the lone wolfs?
I am not sure. You can tell they are slightly different but I'm not sure if comparable.
You stay in good shape.
Thanks
Killer quads bro
Where do get replacement belts?
Thanks
Contact lone wolf directly for that. It should be on their website.
One huge difference between the two that I don't think was discussed in the video is platform size. The XOP Ambush is 20 1/2" x 15" whereas Lone Wolf platforms are 30" X 19 1/2".
👍
I like the the comparison of stands, also, Luke 6 43-45
Thanks
Have you gone away from tree saddle hunting then?
No, I use both depending on what the situation is. I’m not exclusive to either like some people are. I use whatever works best for the situation
Man my summits are noisy. Comfy but setting up is awful
They are too big and bulky for me.
Adding the stealth strips from thirdhandarchery.com greatly decreased the sound of my summit!
Bad thing is Lone Wolf dosent make a climber anymore and it will be hard to find the tree straps for the lone wolf
Yeah it's a bummer. Such a great stand. I've used the same one for about 18 years
@@seansoutdoors i talk to a lone wolf rep they are coming out with another climber this spring
That is great news!
I think this guy Campari the wrong long wolf with xop . He should Campari the long wolf sit to climb with xop sit to climb. I have a long wolf sit to climb is so heavy then the xop and also if you change for the flip sit , the weight about 27or28lb.
Sure. Send one over and I'll gladly do it. If not, oh well. I can't review what I don't have
U do great videos but u should not push God on people.everbody has different oppions about religion
I am sharing, not pushing. To push would be to say you HAVE to believe what I believe, but you never hear me say you HAVe to believe or you HAVE to read your Bible.... do you see the difference? The way i set my sharing up is just if you WANT to look at the Bible the here is an option for doing that, an option that comes with a possible prize. And, just because you don’t share your faith doesn’t mean you should be telling others they are not free to share their faith. If you don’t like it, simply don’t do it. I never told you you had to do anything. It’s that simple.
Biggest difference, lone wolf made in america, xop chinese
thanks for watching.
