Love that you used "Illtreatment" from Yakuza 3 in the background near the beginning of the video, it's one of my favorite tracks in the whole series! Also, great video as always Gokudoni!
I'd rather take a simple re release with localization. Kurohyou combat in the dragon engine would be so awful unless they try to make it exactly as it is in the originals like tony hawk 1+2 or something.
I would rather have a remastered that sharpen the textures then a full on remake in the new engine since I feel the new engine would not do the 1v1 fighter feel as satisfying it was in the original. they also probably make the already grindy upgrades even more grindy to get for some reason.
I already mentioned this in the community post but wanted to leave a comment here for the video: Yakuza Ishin and Yakuza 0 both have Companion Apps for the PlayStation Vita, where you could play some of the minigames, earn money and items, and depending on which app you were playing, you could also do Dungeon Missions (for Ishin’s app) or Arena Battles (for Zero’s app). The money and items earned could then be transferred to the main console games (I assume both PS3 and PS4 copies?) If you have a modded Vita or are able to emulate Vita games (Vita3K emulator is still early in development and very slow/buggy atm), then it‘s still possible to play them, albeit in Japanese only, as they aren’t inherently tied to an online service unlike many of the games shown in the video.
This series has a special place in my heart. Now ik Lad 8 did soft lock of new game+ but I still bought the ultimate addition. And I'll do it again anyday because this series is❤ . Love ur videos. Thnx for sharing new things about Yakuza series everyday.
The recent release of ppsspp for iphone and being able to have Kamurocho in my pocket with Kurohyou has made me think of how a modern RGG mobile game would be super successful, if they made it in the style of Kurohyou or OG 1 and 2. I hope they use some of their past games to experiment with a true mobile yakuza game
Yeah, but then there's the thing with modern mobile games - they're absolutely FILLED with micro transactions. And knowing SEGA's greed as a publisher, I highly doubt they'd pass the opportunity
Mobile as a platform brims with potential, hell, you don't even need to compromise on a possible port, mid range phones nowadays is powerful enough to run the OG Yakuza 1, 2 and even 3 just fine. The problem is mobile as a market just doesn't have a place for quality single player games like Yakuza, you have to shove in a gazillion mtx if you wanted to make a profit, and knowing SEGA, they'd prefer a second RGG online to a proper Yakuza title.
This video randomly popped up into my feed today and I was very happy to see some coverage on Kenzan's absurd pachinko. I know a person on Twitter who actually owns a physical cabinet that they found on mercari (though they are not cheap), so that's probably how those JP playthroughs were streamed. Also that Musashi redesign is so good that I'm really hoping it comes back as an alternate outfit if we ever get a Kenzan Kiwami.
its pretty sad to hear any game not being properly preserved and lost to time, even if these games are mostly silly dumb spin offs its still a part of game and IP history its a shame a lot more games will be victims to this kind of thing
I know Kiryu’s design in RGG Online Gree is just a chibi version of him, but it looks extremely similar to his design in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.
There's also the vita exclusive yakuza ishin and yakuza 0 companion apps. Their basically vita ports of both games specifically desinged to transfer your save from the main game to the Vita app if you want to grind on the go. The Yakuza 0 app had the colosseum fights for grinding, while the yakuza ishin app had the battle dungeon and the farming minigame. Currently playing them right now. It's pretty much the only way to play an actual yakuza\like a dragon on the go. Sad that they were Japan exclusive.
I actually got SoK recently through a Reddit URL that lead me to a Twitter post providing the link to the Steam download. I know, convoluted, but that's how I got it. It's a simple and really short beat em up side scroller, but its neat.
Don't worry! You can thankfully still try the majority of the games via emulation. As for the more obscure stuff, we might see some spiritual successors over time if we talk about it long enough :D
Just got around to watching this whole video. You did it again, Gokudoni! I actually only knew a few of these games you mentioned so it was quite informative and interesting. I hope, with some more recent news, that you do cover your opinion on the Like A Dragon Yakuza live action series as you always seem so cheerful, passionate and articulate about this awesome game series! Keep it up!
I pray that they re-release Streets of Kamurocho one day. I love the look of the game and sadly wasn't into the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series at the time it came out. Please RGG, bring it back or release it as a spin-off or physical game like Scott Pilgrim 😊
Since my PS3 broke down I couldn't find a way to play Dead Souls, emulating the game on PC is somewhat unstable,so I hope they at least make a remaster for current consoles
They probably would not since it didn't sell well and i don't see that much of a outcry from fans for a dead souls port to pc. Let just hope ps3 emulation improve so that dead souls can truly be preserve.
The pachislot industry has A LOT of money, time, and genuine care put into it. Tekken has a lot of brilliant music that comes from its pachislot machines.
Not that I had much hope before, but the original Ishin getting delisted really doesn't bode well for the OG 1 and 2 ever getting a rerelease. At least they're easy to emulate.
It had some unique cutscenes, characters and plot points that never made it into Yakuza 6. It's a great "what-if" to analyse while looking at that game's evolution and development cycle.
@@luizhos4763no no that demo was the whole first chapter. This demo featured a completely separate story and one of the first times we see kiryu in a seemingly casual outfit (jeans, t-shirt and puffer coat) which never reappeared in any capacity. Strangely enough, the demo has kiryu meet haruka fairly early as opposed to the actual game. It’s an entirely separate story which is interesting to look back on.
Sega should do a bundle of Dead Souls and Binary Domain remastered with Streets of Kamurocho included for last/current gen consoles and PC. Also, check out the pachislot OST for Bayonetta. It's got some good songs too.
yakuza 3 as it was originally is one that's gonna be sadly forgotten. The game was already a black sheep because of the story, then the remaster comes along and fucks over everything because of the 60fps. Very weird problems for such a massive franchise.
I hate pachinko machines cause its the only devilman related "video game" that you can play aside from the ps1 and nes game,i also hate the fact that a lot of them have like high quality animations made specially for them and there is no way to watch those animations unless you gamble in those god awful machines,so you arent alone on hating pachinko machines trust me
Out of all these games, Streets of Kamurocho is the first piece of lost RGG media and one that I'm already desperate to try and wish I heard about it sooner.
If you have a steam account and a pc that's stronger than a grain of rice, you can easily install Streets of Kamurocho today using steams console. I just did it a few months ago.
As always, thank you for checking the video out! By all means, feel free to share your own stories regarding obscure Yakuza media down below ;)
Not really a game unfortunately, but I ordered the new Digsta Kiryu & Majima figures a while ago, super excited for 'em.
I just wish I had my Channels Back Yakuza Like A Dragon Generation Series 🐉 😞 😢
You can actually get SOK by getting a certain reddit url but the rest of the games are cooked
You can't say that and NOT provide a link right?
@@ariehamm241You know you can't post links on UA-cam comments right?
@@ariehamm241 steamdb website for it worked for me
Hold up, fr? That's so cool
What i find very funny is that i actually picked it up during sega's anniversary not knowing what even is yakuza.

Imagine if SEGA did Streets Of Kamurocho 2 with Streets Of Rage 4's engine tho
I want a Kurohyou Remake...
Trust me, you don't want a remake of games like these... They're definitely gonna remove tons of features from it.

Great video! Would love if you covered the Dead Souls prototype for the PS Vita that Nagoshi introduced.
Interesting, seeing Ishin and 0 later got companion apps that let you play portions of those games on vita.
Streets of Kamurocho might be delisted on Steam but its not deleted. It can still be downloaded and played on steam using its download link

1:56 Oh wait it was not an substory it was main story lol
RGG showing some prototype Judgment game structure with how they give you mandatory substories to do every time :D
@@gokudoni I feel like Lost Judgment's entire campaign was just a giant substory 🤣
Streets of Kamurocho was exclusive (limited edition) game in steam as anniversary, i still have it
