Hey dude. This was such a great way to see Katima again. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. The last time I was there was 1986 when I was 18. It seems to have changed out of all recognition. I miss it so much.
Hi. You’re welcome and thanks for watching. 1986 I wasn’t yet born by that time. I really wouldn’t know how Katima looked like by then. I’m sure if you come to visit you’ll see few things are still the same.
@@AddvSimas Absolutely!!! I learned how to drive in Katima 😎🚙 and altho I was a conscript in the Air Force, I desperately wanted to stay there after my 6 months were up. The pub had a traffic light which the engineers stole from Braamfontien in Joburg,so the story goes and when it was green the bar was open, orange meant last orders and red meant the bar was closed. It was always funny to see a bakkie or two screech up to the pub when the light went orange. 😂😂😂I also spent 6 months in Grootfontien and used to go to Tsumeb regularly.
😅😅😅 Your stay was Adventurous. Grootfontein is now developed in more than Katima Mulilo. I’ll do a video for Grootfontein and Tsumeb sometime this year.

@@subarcticlife445 Yes, old military base is still there. I understand there’s permanent structures now. They don’t really allow civilians like me to go there 😅

I am a Kenyan planning to hit the road from Nairobi to Livingstone, Zambia. I was thinking of coming to Windhoek but the journey from Katima Mulilo to Windhoek is stressing me mentally. 🤣 a whole 1000+ Kms
Once you enter Namibia you’ll get the best roads. You won’t even feel the distance. Just come to Windhoek
That driver with phone on hear is not safe
I lived in KM from 97 to 99, it's interesting to see the commercial development that has occurred in the town centre. Is The Floating Bar still on the Zambezi?
Yes it is still there. It’s owned by Protea Hotel now.

Yes Namibia is slightly like SA. KM people gave up that hope long time they’re happy now.
We Namibians were South Africa by birth until Namibia got it independence in 1990.. Hence explanation for samilar features..

How dangerous is Namibia for a foreigner?
Namibia 🇳🇦 is a safe country for tourist / foreigners. The crimes mostly committed against tourists is just phone crabbing and theft. Our Namibian police has created a tourist protection unit for tourists/foreigners to feel at home.

Thanks for sharing. Which transporter(bus company) did you use? I checked for intercape, but they are not available during this covid-19 period.
You can use Oasis Bus or Silas Ndapuka. They Travel during the day because of the curfew
