We all wanted to be Linda in those days. Beauty, humility, strength & enormous talent. You’ll be amazed when you explore her insanely diverse catalogue
She has 10 Grammy Awards, 3 American Music Awards, 2 Academy of Country Music Awards, an Emmy Award, an ALMA Award, a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and sold over 100 million albums. That was just some of her accolades. Yes, she is a voice you need to hear more of.
Should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame. There is no-one who has had a #1 country album AND a #1 contry single who is NOT in the CMHF, except Ronstadt.
Linda had the best pipes around. Over 30 albums and lent her voice to another 120. She wasn't just any old crossover artist, she built bridges between genres. She has more nominations for Grammys in different genres and taken home more awards in different genres of any other artist in history. No one can come close.
Glenn Fry and Don Henley were in her back up band, they told her they were thinking about forming their own band..she told them they should, they were too talented to stay.. she even recorded one of their first songs,to give it a boost. The song was “Desperado” and their band-“The Eagles”
She also made suggestions as to who they should get for their band. They took her suggestions very seriously and thus we have the Eagles. Thankyou Linda.
The lovely Linda no one can touch her, she was one of the top female artists of the 70's and 80's, she did this live, no auto tune artists don't perform like this anymore. She was a pure musical genius who explored multiple musical genres and was a smashing success in all of them!
Thank you. I'm 73 and have been a Ronstadt fan from when I first heard her sing. I may be a big fan of Angelina Jorden and Chris Stapleton, but I will always stop and listen to Linda. Thank you again
To me she is the female version of Freddie Mercury. Greatest voice. Can sing rock, opera ,pop, country and whatever she wanted. And did just that. She followed her heart and went against convention, and killed it.
Saw her in concert and she gave us a beautiful night of music. Her voice in perfect pitch. She was captivating. Her voice is flawless and her timing and phrasing right on. Power and tenderness and impeccable control. Truly one of the best singers of our time. Plus....she’s a doll. Down to earth and not full of herself or haughty. There is so much to hear from her. Thanks Harri
I saw Linda in concert in the 70's at least 4 or 5 times. She never failed to impress. She is magnificent. Her voice is powerful and soft when it needs to be. She was wonderful with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris. She sang every genre of music from pop, rock (Listen to Tumbling Dice), to opera, to show tunes, to Latin. And she succeeded at all. She is exceptional. Her battle with Parkinson Disease may have curtailed her career but not the love the public has for her. Long life, Linda.
Linda Rondstat could sing just about anything. From pop to rock to country to traditional Mexican to jazz and opera. She did it all and what ever she did, she was a massive standout.
Harri, so glad you’re reacting to her. She’s half Mexican and to honor that she created the most amazing show of mariachi tunes and dances- all in Spanish. The entire show is on video. It became the best selling Spanish language album of all time.
Thank you for this reaction. This is the voice of an angel. She can bring it up and down with ease and is always pitch perfect. Her catalogue spans four decades and multiple genres. She did some amazing Mariachi music a little later on. An early hit to check out is “Long Long Time”. There is a great wealth of material to enjoy. Great reaction. 🥰
I belieqve that linda,Jackson Brown, the Eagles, and Poco, all wrote and sang with one another. I imagine those were fun times. Melissa Ward here. Her voice is beautiful. She sang with the Stone Ponies too.
Please remember that she helped The Eagles get together ❤❤❤❤ love your reactions brother. I'm a 64 year old white guy who grew up in the 70s listening to lots of music.
In the documentary "The Sound of My Voice" a musician is recounting the story of her--early in her career--opening for another act. There was concern that she had never played a stadium before--was her voice up to it? There was concern until the moment she started singing. Needless to say--not a problem. LOL.
Top L. A. musicians all wanted to record or tour with her. She was on top of the music world! Please react to her cover of "You're No Good" done live on "The Midnight Special". She is superb with amazing backup singers and a band with members of Steely Dan/Doobie Brothers and Little Feat. Crazy good performance!
Linda Ronstadt is credited with inventing Country/Rock. One of THE most iconic female voices in either genre ever heard. Beautiful person inside and out. I went to the same High School as her, Palo Verde HS in Tucson, Arizona although 20+ years later. She graduated in 63. Some other great tunes by her are Tumbling Dice (a rolling stones cover), poor, poor pitiful me, just one look or you're no good live, not from the grey whistle test.
An old Roy Orbison penned song (of whom Linda was a huge fan of!) It's from her "Simple Dreams" album. She absolutely brought it to life in the most wonderful way! I'm in tears both from the performance and because the memory it brings back of when I was a teenager and she made such a strong impression on me with this song!.
Most of us who were teenagers at the time had a big crush on Linda. Beautiful voice, beautiful lady and very highly talented. Multiple award winner. If you liked that, try Lo Siento Mi Vida, I promise you'll love it.
Can’t think of another singer to sing successfully across ant genre she took on, queen of rock, country, American standards, pop, R&B and best selling non-English album in US history (Spanish, her tribute to her father/her Mexican heritage). An American treasure
She’s great! One of the biggest grossing artists of the ‘70s, both for tour receipts and record sales. Groundbreaking woman performer and champion of little-known songwriters.
Harri, I'm Howie. My father always called me Harry! I miss him so much 😢. Great reaction and Linda is amazing. Unfortunately, she has a disease which robbed her of her ability to sing. I can't imagine how painful it must be to have this amazing ability in your soul and not being able to open up and let it out! She was instrumental in forming the Eagles btw. Love you Linda! 💔
Its terrible..just terrible..Reminds me of Ali who was a great talker and active guy..Then suddenly locked in a mind prison despite your senses still working perfect. So sad..Just terrible
Most BEAUTIFUL lady with an all-time voice!! Linda sang ANY genre winning multiple Grammy awards in all genre. My favorite you should consider is her songs with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra singing classic standards.
She was the first woman inducted into the Hall of Fame! Also, Roy Orbison wrote this song. Amazing how things play out and overlap. Just love your channel!!!❤
Such a beautiful voice. She sings so boldly. This is a cover of Roy Orbison and Joe Melson. Sung by Roy Orbison. I did enjoy her version better although both are good. Great reaction Harri!!!
If you want to be bold and shocked, react to Linda’s Mariachi backed songs. Los Laureles, La Cigarra will blow you away. Her father was Mexican and even though she couldn’t speak Spanish, she did a phenomenal job on that album, Canciones de Mi Padre (Songs of my Father).
Linda kinda had three careers. After winning several Grammys during the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, she decided to do something different and hooked up with The Nelson Riddle Orchestra, who were big in the late 30’s, 40’s, 50’s to do some mid 20th century classics. Her record label, and manager told her she would ruin her career, she said FU, and went on to do three albums, and won a Grammy. Then she decided she wanted to celebrate her heritage, Daddy was Mexican, and do a Spanish language album, two actually. Again the same nay sayers were there, and again she said FU, and not only did she win another Grammy, she has the number one selling Spanish language album world wide of all time, and it’s been over 30 years. React to her 1989 Grammy performance, pay attention at the end for Bonnie Raitte’s reaction to her performance.
Linda has superb control and power in her voice...a great set of pipes. She also has tremendous taste in her choice of material and has been a favourite of mine for decades. Please react to Heart Like a Wheel or Winter Light
Wow 2 dislikes, seriously? Sad people. Beautiful, gifted singer. Beautiful person. Harri, did you know that before Don Henley and Glen Frey formed The Eagles, they both played in Linda's band? Yes!!! They eventually decided to form their own "little" group lol. She gave them her blessing. What a lovely human
I was lucky enough to see Linda Ronstadt a few times ♥️☮️👵🏼. Her “Trio” compilation with Dolly Parton and EmmyLou Harris is top shelf female country!! I recommend “High Sierra”
Hi Harri, Linda teamed up with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris to form "The Trio" about 30-ish yrs ago. "Telling Me Lies" and "Those Memories" are sure to bring the goosebumps out with their exquisite harmony. You may not be a "Country" fan, but these song's will definitely be diamonds in your ears. Even if you don't feel like doing a "reaction video", I urge you to listen for your own surprising enjoyment. Good job, Harri. Thank you.
Great song written by Roy Orbison who was no slouch as a singer. Linda is one of the greatest female singers of all time. Wish you could do Different Drum when she was in the Stone Ponys. Thanks Harri
I'm glad you did this live version. The post-1975 concerts features arenas and small venues able to install great sound-reproduction systems so attending those concerts - if the artists wanted to - that 'sounded like the records'. Ronstand's backup bands in those years were jammed with some of the best players. That's Kenny Edwards on bass and harmonies, that's Waddy Wachtel on wild-haired guitar... often, she toured with Andrew Gold, who had hits on his own. Every musician with her was 'top o' their class' types, and they'd litter album liner notes for 20-30 years.
Lovely Linda Ronstadt had one of the truly outstanding voices! She has a massive catalogue covering many genres. Please check out Poot, Poor Pitiful Me, Tumbling Dice, When Will I Be Loved, and It’s So Easy for starters!!!
Harri, great reaction to Linda and a fantastic song written and recorded by Roy Orbison in 1963, one of the best country/rock singers ever and also so cute too (don't tell the missus), she is also credit with introducing the future Eagles to the world as her backing band in the late 60's early 70's. To add to my recommendation list check out Jeff Healey band with "Angel Eyes". Keep up the good work kid and cheerio from Glasgow.
This was the last song the DJ played at my wedding reception back in 1977. A bunch of drunk Scots and Poles singing along at the top of their lungs since we all knew it like the back of our hands I was wondering how that last note was gonna sound. My first ex-wife nailed it (she has the voice of an angel), I brought it down an octave but I'll never the ungodly cacophony that drowned us out! Do yourselves a favor and listen to Linda sing DOWN SO LOW. Then do yourself another favor and listen to Etta James version. So different but both incredible to hear!
Linda has been for ages twined with the Eagles and all their concerts. I believe she sang along side them as well as dated a couple of them for a period. These are big acts in our last few decades, now they are gone and disbanded but Linda's participation in their huge popularity was always evident. You should examine some of the Eagles catalog some time.
All the plaudits for Linda are richly deserved; even my deceased father, born 1926, died 2008, and was almost chemically repulsed by anything recorded after 1950, loved her; but the writer of the song, Roy Orbison, deserves your attention, IMO. Please consider reacting to some songs from his 1987 "Black and White Night" concert, which includes Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello as backing musicians. If you do, you won't regret it!
Hari if yoy love live performances watch a very young Linda R. sing on the old Bobby Darrin show sing "Long Time Gone' (my favorite). She's mesmerizing. Linda,Joni, and Karen C were my favorite voices of the era. Linda could sing a menu and she would still melt my heart. Great start to my day! Love u Hari. You are doing a great job. 👍
When this song first came out, all I could think was play that again. Also, this was written by the great Roy Orbison and Melson. Roy released his song BUT it did not do nearly as well as Linda's version. And Roy also had a great voice.
Don Henley and Glen Frye performed with Linda Ronstadt before the Eagles. They let her sing Desparado and she made it a hit. Later it became an Eagles song.
Now Harri, if you really want her voice, listen to her album Big Band Sounds with Linda and Nelson Riddle. They go through some of the best music ever written. Just listen anf judge for your self.
...One of the most beautiful and touching songs ever. And a 1A+++++ cover from Linda......... She's around 75 years now, and suffers a kind of Parkinson's disease............. So sad. O, and BTW: The original is from Roy Orbison.
Three to check out by Linda: Desperado (Linda's backup band became Eagles BTW...) Round Midnight (with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra) All I Know (2010 duet with Jimmy Webb; Linda's final recording) But you can't miss with anything she sang.
Ms. Linda has a great voice, check out "Ooh Baby Baby" & "Long Long Time" and one of my favorites "My Funny Valentine".. Ms. Linda did a album with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra of show tunes and ballads.. Began singing with the Eagles.. ♠W.G.
We all wanted to be Linda in those days. Beauty, humility, strength & enormous talent. You’ll be amazed when you explore her insanely diverse catalogue
I wanted Linda

She could rock like the devil and croon like an angel - sometimes in one song - in Spanish and English. So glad to hear the Ronstadt revival.
Yes, and she had a lot of Hispanic blood.
Linda could sing Rock, Blues, Country, Motown, Gospel and anything else. I would listen to her sing the phone book.
And Mariachi and classical!
You should see her play Mabel in “pirates of penzance”. Awesome awesome opera that you can understand
Linda had the best pipes around. Over 30 albums and lent her voice to another 120. She wasn't just any old crossover artist, she built bridges between genres. Way more to the story then that, but you definitely got the gist of it.
She sings it so much better than them and I love The Eagles.
@@kurtsaxton823 I never knew that. Thanks for that!
She also made suggestions as to who they should get for their band. They took her suggestions very seriously and thus we have the Eagles. Thankyou Linda.
So great for you to discover Linda.
A very early song when she was with the stone ponies is "different drum" written buy Michael Nesmith of the monkeys. Made her famous.
Enjoy
My favourite! Oh didn't know Michael wrote it. What a talented person
Such a powerful and beautiful voice ♥️😎

I’m so glad you got to experience this song. I cannot control the tears every time I hear it.
One of the greatest female vocal talents of all time hands down. Her range was impeccable and she was surrounded by amazing musicians.
No auto tune, just pure talent.
A Voice Of An Angel
Terrific reaction. Love Linda
Beautiful woman, beautiful song.
Glorious flexible pipes. Authentic and unadorned. Linda Ronstadt is the rarest of songbirds.

Anything Linda Ronstadt is the best!
Linda, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris did a couple of albums together many years ago. Give a listen to Those Memories of You.
I just saw a clip of Linda singing I Will Always Love You. My favorite version. Check out Willing, Different Drum, Tumbling Dice . . .
They were called “Trio” and “Trio II” I recommend “High Sierra”☮️♥️🤘🏽🔥

Tucson's own "Barefoot Princess", Angelic voice.
Famous famous singer, so long since I’ve heard her. Huge talent and star in her time,
an angel, voice soars like the eagles & then into velvet softness; & absolutely drop-dead GORGEOUS lady.
In the documentary "The Sound of My Voice" a musician is recounting the story of her--early in her career--opening for another act. There was concern that she had never played a stadium before--was her voice up to it?
There was concern until the moment she started singing. Needless to say--not a problem. LOL.
The 70s offered its share of great female vocalists, but to me, the two who stood out most were Linda Ronstadt and Karen Carpenter.
Check out her singing OPERA!!!!

All I Know (2010 duet with Jimmy Webb; Linda's final recording)
But you can't miss with anything she sang.
Great old Roy Orbison song, sung by a great singer… 👍😁
