No matter what kind of music from rock and roll ,big band , opera, country this lady has sung it all and done it all.We are lucky to have this great God given voice in our live time .
She has a Mexican background. She grew up in this culture. As beautiful as Linda's voice was, an affliction has made it impossible for her to sing ever again. This must have been so devastating for her, but she gave us years of great recordings.
I know she says she can't sing but I think she still sounds good. She can't hit notes like she use to but she sang with a couple of relatives and it was just awesome to see and hear her.
Check out her duet with Jimmy Webb on his song "All I Know" from 2010. It was her final recording. Beautiful, yet tragic, especially given the eerie aptness of Webb's lyric: But the ending always comes at last Endings always come too fast They come too fast but they pass too slow I love you, and that's all I know...

Lind Ronstadt is an amazing talent that only comes around once in a lifetime! Oh my God, what pipes she had to sing those classic songs! It takes very strong vocals to hit those notes the way she did. Singing with a Mariachi is a huge test of your vocals and range. Not only that she touches our soul inside that bring out that inner Mexican heritage and you can't hold back a tear of joy and happiness! Very rare when a singer can do that to you in any language! I am so glad that she recorded those songs and I believe in my heart that she found her calling! The most beautiful voice I have ever heard. I've loved listening to her sing since the Stone Ponies. It's pretty obvious this person had never heard of her.
Linda won Grammy awards for her work during her Rock and Pop years. Then she decided to do some mid century classics, arranged and accompanied by Nelson Riddle and his orchestra, in spite of her agent and record company telling her it would ruin her career, she said I don’t care, and went on to win another Grammy, and did three albums. Then she decided to honor her Mexican heritage, in spite of her manager and record company telling her she would hurt her career, again she said I don’t care, and went on to make two albums, the first winning another Grammy, and becoming the number one selling Spanish language album of all time, even to this day! Every young man of my peers in the late 60’s until today had and has a crush on the beautiful and talented sexy as can be Linda Ronstadt!

Linda grew up with family and ranching in Northern (Sonoran) Mexico and Southern Arizona (near Tucson). Her family would sing when she was little. She had the idea and desire to produce an all Spanish album “Songs of my Father” using traditional mariachi music. Her label tried to talk her out of it. It went on to be the biggest-selling foreign-language album ever in the United States.
Tucson is less than 100 miles from the Mexican border. My step father's family was bisected by the border during the Mexican American war. Linda's ranching family is very similar.
It is Mexican, so Spanish. Linda had part Mexican heritage and covered her Mexican roots for a period after her initial popularity. The guys with the big hats are mariachis. You are right, she is so versatile. Speaking of mariachis, check out "'We're Not Gonna Take It!' mariachis". Love your channel, man.

You should really check that out because the song she sang with orchestras were very beautiful and then she ended up going back to her roots and began to sing mariachi music. SHe is an American treasure, with hits across so many genres, rock, pop, Broadway, country, standards and best selling Spanish language album in US history (still). Shocking she wasn’t more popular in the UK, so many firsts in US, ruled the rock scene and first female to sell out stadiums, early connection to Eagles, trio with Dolly Parton and so much more. She has German, English and Mexican heritage, grew up listening to music in Spanish, her father sang (album translates to “Songs of my father”), she didn’t need to do this album, was a passion for her. No one like her. (The US has the second largest Spanish speaking population in the world, many people with roots in Mexico. She grew up in Arizona not far from border between US and Mexico)

I remember reading somewhere that John Lennon saw how Spanish singers would stand with their legs apart and their head cocked back in pride while singing. He liked the look and adapted the style in the Beatles early career.
Harri, I would offer you my "well wishes" but, by the time I saw this, you got better. I know because I've seen you since. I'll save the "well wishes" for another time when you need it 😊. Anyway, Linda did this because she wanted to bring some of her heritage's music to light. I found this nice quote about her that I thought I would share with you ... Christopher Loudon of Jazz Times noted in 2004, Ronstadt is "Blessed with arguably the most sterling set of pipes of her generation ... rarest of rarities-a chameleon who can blend into any background yet remain boldly distinctive ... It's an exceptional gift; one shared by few others."
I pray you get better soon!!! Linda Ronstadt is a legend. She started out with the Eagles as her backup band. She has made such a wonderful music during her life. She’s done mini duets with wonderful singers. She is of Mexican dissent and has a wonderful album out called Canciones de me Padre. She is a very talented woman! It’s with sadness that she is suffering from Parkinson’s disease and is no longer able to sing. I’ve seen a number of interviews with her where she does not speak or peer in public anymore. Please try out some of her other songs. She has a huge number of songs to choose from. One that you might try out is called “goodbye my friend“. It’s a sad song so prepare yourself. One of the songs that I often sing at karaoke is “You’re no good“.
Linda is Mexican American raised in Arizona,USA. She recorded an album in Spanish dedicated to her father. Album: Canciones de mi padre. Translation: Songs of my father.
From album, " Canciones de Mi Padre." " Songs for my Father" in English. Like me, she's half Mexican-America from her dad's side. Mother's white. She had lots of musical influences growing up. Her 1st hits were pop/rock. You should watch the documentary on her. She sang Gilbert & Sullivan's Operetta too! Amazing vocals. Play "Blue Bayou."
Linda's father is of German, English, and Mexican ancestry. When Linda was a little girl, her father taught her all the Mexican standards he grew up listening to. That is why when she finally got around to recording these Mexican songs, she called her album "Canciones De Mi Padre"..."Songs Of My Father". As she got older she started singing Country, Rock, 1940's standards, one Opera type Broadway show, then she finally went back to her roots and recorded two albums in Spanish. As I've said before, Linda could, and did, sing it all, and in amazing fashion.
Linda is Half Mexican, Half Caucasian. This Mariachi Music is in Honor of her Father. The album is called “Canciones de mi Padre” (Songs of my Father). She doesn’t speak a lick of Spanish, but her singing is Dead On! She says since they are from Arizona, they would BBQ on weekends and her Father and Uncles would play and sing this music. Please React to “Los Laureles” off this album. Just sooo sorry she has M/S and can’t sing anymore. Her Vocal Chords don’t work right, still her music lives on as her Legacy. Thank you so much for Highlighting Miss Ronstadt, we love her, God Bless you Darl’n!.. SanJoséBob
Lindas' father is (was) Mexican. Linda was born and raised in Tucson, AZ and is of Mexican decent. Because of her upbringing she understands Spanish but is not fluent in speaking it. She had to work very hard with a coach to get the dialect correct. She nailed it!
The only thing to add to the comments already here is to highlight favorites....one of mine is her duet with Aaron Neville...another that comes to mind is an appearance on the Johnny Cash TV show....she and a handful of other singers defined the last half of the 20th century as legends must!
The three amigos was Steve Martin. But Linda comes by this honestly. She learned these songs from her Mexican-American father. She did two albums of Canciones. Beautiful work.
Hm Harri, I like the gravel voice, bit of Isaac Hayes or Barry White about it! Spanish. Linda's father was Mexican, and she did two whole albums of Mexican folk songs like this. That lady could sing anything! Most versatile pop singer of her time, probably of all time...I love Karen Carpenter, but for versatility no one comes close to Linda. You should check out some of her big band era stuff with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, too...
Even though her last name Ronstadt is German, her dad was of Mexican heritage from Arizona who also had German heritage. Linda grew up listening to traditional Mexican songs in her household while growing up. She didn't like touring in big sold-out stadiums after several years and decided, against her record company's advice, to branch out to other genres of music, including a Spanish-language album, acting in a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta "The Pirates of Penzance," recording an album of big band standards from the 1940s-50s, and a couple of folk-country albums with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris. There's a great 2019 documentary called "The Sound of My Voice" about Linda, which can be found for free on UA-cam, that covers her childhood, her mega-success in the 1970s and the diverse paths she chose in the 1980s-90s, up to her diagnosis with Parkinson's disease in late 2012. She can still sing a very little, but does not have the same power, control or range.
Linda is Mexican-American. she is singing in Spanish. The is from her album "Canciones de mi Padre". it is a tribute to her father and her Mexican heritage (Mexico is in North America, right below the United States).
Not French!! 😂. It's a mariachi band. She grew up in Tucson AZ, she's Mexican -American. And the album is called Canciones de mi Padre, songs of my father. This was a very macho male dominated art form, but now because of Linda there's more women in mariachi music than ever before, Linda made it okay. In Los Angeles we even have some all female mariachi groups now.

Linda is Mexican American raised in Arizona,USA. She recorded an album in Spanish dedicated to her father. Album: Canciones de mi padre. Translation: Songs of my father.
she's insanely good....there's no one like her
From album, " Canciones de Mi Padre." " Songs for my Father" in English.
SanJoséBob
My first time hearing her was on Sesame Street. She sang a kids version of this in English and I was hooked
Steve Martin , Chevy Chase and Martin Short. Her Spanish is flawless!
The GOAT.
Mexican Spanish ... La Charrrr-ee-ah-da... hope this helps... xo ... :)
The three amigos was Steve Martin. But Linda comes by this honestly. She learned these songs from her Mexican-American father. She did two albums of Canciones. Beautiful work.
Get well soon,my friend
She IS the best of them. Nobody is close.
Harri, Steve Martin
If you want to hear yet another side of Linda, try her version of the old Jazz ballad "Skylark." She is, as you would expect, perfect.
Linda is Mexican-American. she is singing in Spanish. The is from her album "Canciones de mi Padre". it is a tribute to her father and her Mexican heritage (Mexico is in North America, right below the United States).
So cool
Mexico is in north America but it is south of the U.S.A.
Find the album "FM" (its a soundtrack). She has two "live" tracks on the album that are spectacular. "Poor Poor Pitiful me" and "Tumbling Dice"
She was a huge LatAm star
Not French!! 😂. It's a mariachi band. She grew up in Tucson AZ, she's Mexican -American. And the album is called Canciones de mi Padre, songs of my father.
This was a very macho male dominated art form, but now because of Linda there's more women in mariachi music than ever before, Linda made it okay. In Los Angeles we even have some all female mariachi groups now.
Great great reaction bubba...by the way it's her Mexican background hermanito!
