If you're an author and not a member of this diverse community, then remembering these three things are crucial when writing LGBTQ+ characters in your novel. There's a bonus tip in there as well.
Did I miss anything? Do you have any additional advice for authors on writing LGBTQ+ characters? What's your favorite book with one of these kinds of characters in it, and why? Tell me all your thoughts in the comments down below!

I have one most important tip - don't let it be the hero's only thing. Don't let the characterization end there. Just write an interesting character

Love the sunglasses! These were great tips. I have a story with an LGBTQ+ MC planned (the character actually appears in one of my other books as a side character), but I have yet to write her in any romantic arc. So, this is super helpful. I'm definitely going to hire a sensitivity reader. That's a must. :)

The author Jacqueline Carey writes awesome LGBTQ characters. My favorite is her Kushiel's Dart trilogy, the Santa Olivia books are also great as well.

The amount of times you've told me about Kushiel's Dart and the number of times I've made the mental note to read it only to forget... That ends now. Going to put it in my shopping cart immediately.

@@kristinaebert822 There's obviously a reason why you have and I'm going to find out dang it. Also I nabbed it on kindle so I probably won't notice how enormous it is.
