Mount Bonnell and the Balcones Escarpment

Dr. C.M. (Chock) Woodruff Jr. presents the geologic setting for Mount Bonnell on the Colorado River in Austin, Texas. Dr. Woodruff explains how the Balcones Fault Zone and the erosion over time caused by the Colorado River sculpted the terrain to form the Balcones Escarpment.

Makes sense that Austin has the bat caves. It’s interesting how it’s farm land east of the escarpment. We always noticed it in a simpler way, that it’s flatter and more green east of I-35.
