There's a lot of harmonic choice and taste found in both Genshin's OST and the etudes here. Glad that he managed to inject some of his esoteric harmony into a main stream game like Genshin for the mass to enjoy, though.
Godowsky's called, he wants his study on the 1st Chopin etude back.

Strange. He's the Genshin Impact composer. Shouldn't a person of this caliber be able to find a good pianist to record this?
Edit: I said the audio was very good and human-like, but now that I use headphones, I can notice it's a bit more wooden that I previously thought
@@adlfm well it says they're from 2017 in the title, but aside from that, hiring people for every written piece can get pretty expensive i imagine.
@@adlfm These etudes got released as a set in 2017, and the actual dates of composition go way before that (e.g. the 3rd piece was featured in a tv show back in 2011). Yet it wasn’t until 2019 when Genshin Impact was released and he became real famous.

Especially no.1 and no.5 are so elaborate that you can actually imagine what they look like.

@@RaptorT1V I transcribed the notes from the audio file without access to the original MIDI. Presumably Yu-Peng cooked up his MIDI file in some DAW like Cubase.

The first Etude heavily reminds me of chopin's etude opus 10 no. 1, but this is probably even more beautiful. I wonder if it's as technically difficult, though?

It’s hard to appreciate this set of etudes because they’re mimicking Chopin’s etudes from the start. We can LOVE Chopin and still have our own identities. Chopin was a fellow human like each of us. Mimicking him or other past composers is not giving to the world what God gave us individually.

God doesn't exist and really only the first one, maybe the second one, and _maybe_ the fourth one sound explicitly Chopin-inspired. Every famous classical composer drew inspiration from those that came before them, Chopin included, so you really sound like you have no idea what you're talking about.
They are nice but not very original or special in any way. Enjoyable though!
