As a Swede, I laugh so much when I see a non-Nordic person taste the Salmiak (salty) flavored candy for the first time. You did not disappoint me 🤭🤭🤭🤭. I don´t know about the other Nordic countries, but we and the Finns love our salty candy. I get cravings for it...Djungelvrål and Turkish Peber are probably the most popular products. Thank you for coming to my hometown Mancunians ❤

The people spraying their suits are from Chalmers, one of two major universities here. Their sections each have their colour design, and they like to spraypaint extra designs on them when the semester starts.

And its not normal salt so you know 😄 its called ”salmiak” which is ammonium chloride! And we do love it, people believe it comes from that swedish people used to eat alot of salted and fermented fish!

@@CezandGazSurströmming, the fermented fish, is some of the most foul smelling food known to man, on a global scale. But some people obviously like it so they keep selling it. Just make sure you're not using clothes you like because if you get some of the juice on them, it's never coming out, or so I hear.

I love our salty sweets but I've been eating them since I was a kid so you it's normal for me or generally us in Sweden. The house you stayed in is basically Swedish summer house many people buy for summer outside the city to relax, fishing etc
We will have to try it again and hopefully make it normal for us too 🤣 We loved the Swedish summer, so relaxing! ☀️

The overalls people, might be University students. The overall is common among a lot of student associations. And this might be some kind of initiation because of the timing of your visit.
Because at least with some associations (Like mine had) you get a virgin one (in my case white) and after proven worthy, you get the real one to treasure forever.
You use the overall to show your association, and you use it during parties mostly, it's a very versatile piece of clothing as you don't really need to care that much about it, you can just sit where ever. it doesn't matter if it gets stained or if you rip something.. just patch it up with some other associations patches.

The people in the white clothing are university students doing an initiation ritual probably. Could be from Chalmers university, that's the only one in Gothenburg that does this stuff that I know of.
Salty licorice candy is very much an acquired taste. I can eat that stuff by the handful, but I've been getting it since I was a child. I buy candy less than once a month so I'm very picky and this stuff isn't on the top of the list, even if it's pretty good. I'd rather have something like Dubbel Nougat from Marabou, Fazer chocolate, maybe Daim bar or Tre Vänner ice cream.
Funnily enough, we have some of those chocolate bars from our last Sweden trip that we will be trying in a future video. I absolutely love daim bars! 🍫-Gaz

Ica is pronounded with a k. If you still are in Gothenberg you ca go to Marstrand and eat viking meals there. At Carlstens fortress (fästning). What you also could try is aqua very, like Nyköpings brännvin or if you to that viking restaurant in marstrand. You must taste mead. mead is a wine made of honey. It has sweet nice taste. (but you can get mead in the UK too). Famous swedish choklet brand is Marabou. Try some of that next time

Salty liquorice is an aquired taste but different from beer/whiskey and wine. Either you like it as a kid or not then you go on to more salty stuff and its so fucking good if you like it so its insane. Most lösgodis (pic n mix) only have small amounts of liquorice this, Mostly sour/sweet n choko stuff.
