Hi I´m Swedish what you refere to is smalltalk in general Swedes are very reserved and this is all around Sweden more I beleieve in the north. Smalltalk is generally sen as a waste of time and we normaly dont do it. If there is a topic that is more in depth and are worth puting time in then we talk a lot. It can take some time to come on a close level with Swedes so dont give up.
Yes it’s six months of darkness but also six months of light
Oh You think it's dark in Stockholm in the winter? Come to the north.. We have the lovely Polar night, where you sometimes don't see the sun at all for a month. But then again, in the summer we also have the Midnight sun, where the sun don't set at all. :)
I really want to go to the North this winter. Sounds beautiful!
This was so interesting to watch because I'm French but lived in Brighton for 8 years and moved to Manchester last August. I really dislike Manchester and I'm currently thinking of relocating to Sweden potentially. All the things you said you disliked about Stockholm are what I dislike about Manchester! Only difference is Manchester is neither pretty or clean and the quality of life is pretty low. So I might as well get those cons somewhere nicer :D
I mean you are so right talking about how swedish likes to talk surface topics only and that’s actually one of the things that makes this city so hard to live at
Agree 👍
And when it comes to fika. It´s not only coffee and cinemon buns. Kladdkaka is also nice with a cup of coffee.
The Fotografiska museum now also have a branch in Whitechapel in London.
You showed the "Stortorget" in gamla stan.
Are you aware that this is the site of the Stockholm blood bath?
This was in 1520.
The central parts of Stockholm could be nice to visit but,
I live in Västerås, about 110 km west of Stockholm.
Each time I visit Stockholm I am so greatful that I do do not live in Stockholm but am just visiting.
If you move out of Stockholm yuo will enjoy a higher standard of living and lower costs and a lot less crowding.
I have been a lot in the UK in line of work. I have also for a short period lived and worked in London.
I quite like the UK. Especially the country side.
The problem with it is mainly that it is just too full of people.
There have also been times when I have been verry surprised in the UK.
E.g. one time driving up from Heathrow to Stratford there were light signs above the highway warning for severe weather.
We were driving for quite some time thinking that something really bad must be coming.
As nothing happeneded we said, there are a few snowflakes coming down. Can this be what they mean whith the warning?
Fo us beeing Swedish this was nothing and we could not really at all understand the warning about severe weather.
We expected a real blissard at least.
Anyway, perheps you should look at other places outside of Stockholm.
I truely believe that this could improve your life.
If you would like advice and perhaps some guiding in the general lake Mälaren area just let me know.
You have such a soothing talking voice! (I am a woman in case that helps making it sound less weird)
Also thank you the video, it is so interesting hearing people's thoughts about a new country after they move to it. I moved to the Netherlands in September and I loved it, but I am thinking of visiting somewhere else for the sake of experience, and Sweden is up there!
Great video. Thanks Frida 🙂
Midsummer is our unofficial National day😁
Thank you for a great video🌸💗✨️
So nice to see your view on Stockholm! Followed!
Looking to move there soon. Definitely would like to reach out to you for more tips
I love the Abba museum, gorgeous summer, and breakfasts!
Glad you like living here. The renting is very hard to get.
Nice video! Well, if you are still living in Sweden and you by now passed maybe two years, I reeeaally hope that you have experienced more of Sweden thant "just" Stockholm. Even if Stockholm is a fantastic place and one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, there is so much more outside Stockholm to explore and experience to get to know Sweden. So pls,..this spring and summer, travel around (ad not just to Gothenburg and Malmö then also :-) ) Enjoy! Cheers!
Hello Friday, what other cafes do you recommend? And also where to get good quality clothing? 😊 great video, thank you!
Hey, can you speak fluent swedish? I've been looking to move out with my partner, we've holidays many times and everyone spoke really good english so curious to know if you picked up the language before/your experience
Which facebook groups do you recommend for finding a room in Stockholm?
Hey Frida let me know is it good coming on One year Master Program in sweden?
Get to the level that you can have a meaningful discussion with a Swede, and it will be meaningful. Have a meaningful discussion with an American and they dont really care. The minute you leave you are yesterdays news
This is true. When you get to the meaningful level - then it’s good
06:53 Were you tearing up? Seems like you were about to cry a bit there.
i also want deep conversation BUT you shouldn't talk deep with just anyone. you'll learn that there is so many manipulative people so avoid it untill you know the person
Where are you from? I can't place the accent.
Sommartider 🎉
I always love when these videos have 90% nothing to do with Sweden but are just general "I moved to a capital of another country and can't find a room and the weather is different and people don't talk to me" videos.
That's the case EVERYWHERE. That has nothing to do with Sweden. it's hard to find an apartment in EVERY major city in Europe and north America. That'd be the same in Paris or Vancouver. People in big cities also don't talk much and it's hard to make friends. That's the same everywhere. Maybe a tad easier in the south but big city folks are big city folks anywhere. Try Gdansk or Munich and tell me you have a friend within a month. Just won't happen.
We dont like the small talk, like, ""Nice weather we having today""!! , Dont you think i see that??
Am Caroline from Uganda, about to head to Sweden KTH Royal Institute of Technology for my Masters. am a deep conversator. I would love amazing people like you who love the same. See you soon. Share any group hangouts if any.
You never have been living in scotland, ithe difference is not that big
Its just you...
We don’t want to go Sweden
