Daz, I look at this, form a North point of view, we cannot lose with our first pick, whether it be at 2 or 6, plus if we end up with pick 18 (Not taking into account bids etc) still plenty of options for us at this selection, Looking forward to Wednesday Night
Outstanding Daz, as a Blues supporter I'd be rapt if FOS is still available at our pick. Great work, I imagine there were a few sleepless nights working all this out !
No chance, if the blues are smart we go for speed and that’s Draper. Not only that but Sid has been playing in the SANFL seniors so he’s ready. FOS doesn’t get enough possessions in games so I’m worried
Richmond wont trade away pick 6. I cant see them trading away their first 4-5 picks. They can get 1 of the following from Pick 6. (most likely) Jagga Smith, or 1 of the following three. Harvey Langford, Alix Tauru or Josh Smillie. I can see them using all 8 picks this year. If they trade any, its one of their late trades for a F1 2025. My Mock draft (same i've been using for several weeks). 1. Sam Lalor (Richmond) 2. A. Tauru (Kang) 3. FOS (Carlton) 4. S. Drapper (Adelaide) 5. H. Langford (Melb) 6. J. Smith (Richmond) 7. J. Smillie (StK) 8. M. Reid (StK) 9. H. Armstrong (Melb) 10. T. Travaglia (Richmond) 11. Either a key forward, or Bo Allan or Joe Berry. (Richmond)
I don't see Richmond doing that trade. There is at least a 50-50 chance that Jagger Smith is still there at pick 6 and even if he isn't there is still a top midfield talent (Langford and Smilie still available in this mock draft) So that just seems like flushing pick 18 down the toilet for little to no gain. They would be much better off trading 18 into a first round pick for next year, they could easily get Hawthorns 2025 round 1 pick from WC. Or maybe even WCs pick with a second rounder going back. Or maybe Melbourne's 25 round 1 pick. So do you think Richmond would prefer to get Smith or get Langford and have a pick in the 10-15 range next year? I see a lot of North fans hating that trade too, though I can't work out why.
@fergulator7297 I don't mind anyone predicting some trades, I think it has to be realistic though and justify why both teams would want to do that trade.
I'm glad you're not on the "St Kilda will draft Murphy Reid" bandwagon. Josh Smillie is EXACTLY the type of midfielder St Kilda needs, I agree with you on Xavier Lindsey at the second pick, but I'd also like to see the saints take Tobie Travaglia too 👍 you must have also seen that St Kilda is entertaining the idea of splitting pick 8 (GWS) 🤔 I'd prefer they don't. Take 2 bonafide stars instead.
@daztalksfooty St Kildas list needs dictate drafting point of difference Midfielders (Smillie, Langford) I really think the quality of mids drops off outside the top 5-6 Midfielders. Trade back in the first round, even the second, instead using full deck of future picks.
Great video...... I hope North doesn't try to trade back in to draft using it's 1st round from next year . Insurance if L.D.U does leave. We can grab a high ender mid in 2026. Top 5 is supposed to be really good next year ! Ps....Do Hawks need LDU in midfield ?
YES ❤ YES ❤ YES ❤ After waffling around all year I finally settled on Barret as the best choice for the Hawks. Although many are touting a FF/Ruck, I see a huge chasm in our forward line next year with the probable retirements of both Gunston and Bruest. I think that we already have enough 6'6" guys on the list, so forward fire-power with a bit of Mongrel is just what we need. Add Cody Anderson to that and, the unsociable Hawks are coming back. 😂😂😂 And perish the thought, if for some reason, we did need another tall, what about a 1yr SSP contract for Matt Tabener.
Saints, Hawks (& Pies & Blues, yadda, yadda) stock up on yr mids. LDU bleeds the Royal Blue and White, will be rewarded for it, so will not be leaving the Roos.
Richmond WILL NOT burn a 1st rounder just because they have multiple picks. Pick 2 would be nice, but the difference in quality is not much with pick 6. Plus, you keep an extra 1st rounder in a deep draft (in this mock it’s Jack Whitlock). What a perfect replacement for Tom Lynch in a few years. The only trades Richmond will be doing is possibly some of the later picks into next year’s 1st round.
I've seen some criticism of Jagga about his lack of hurt-factor but I do wonder, in the modern game, if he is possession one or two in the attacking chain is that the a problem? is a safe short kick a bad thing? Given turnovers kill in the modern game maybe a bit of safety first in a midfielder is a good thing.
I agree in a way. Not every mid is going to be penetrating by foot. Lachie Neale isn't and look at his career. If Jagga is an elite piece in a good midfield, that can work wonders and doesn't have to be the guy who's bitting off too much
Seeing some talks about Hawks trading up for Moreas. If Hawks don't do that and Moreas is available at approx Pick 35. Do you think Hawks take him there?
@daztalksfooty Yeah that confused me too. As I thought if Hawks were to trade up it would be for either Jonty Faull or Jobe Shanehan (if available) or take the best KPP available with our pick in the 30s. But Moreas does have ties to the Hawks. Which made me think it could be possible Hawks might make a play for Moreas
Hey daz great work love how u do these, Carlton supporter so I’m hoping we get our second pick b4 the campo bid u did us harsh there I’m hoping we can get a tall at 38 wat can we get in the 60s
I understand the "dick" aspect of it but clubs are and should be more ruthless with the draft process. If the Blues can get Mraz or O'Farrell, would be unreal
Last year, Adelaide took two bigger bodied midfielders with Edwards and Curtin. Dowling previously. Do we really need Harvey Langford? Surely Sid is the best option because of the pace and the class?
@daztalksfooty thanks for your work. I think a lot of people would be really upset, if we do trade for North's 2 to get Jagga. Sid Harvey or O'Sullivan will be available with our pick. It all makes sence just to pick Draper. If Carlton do, there will still be a big talent available.
I think a tigers going to the draft. There's a chance one of Langford, Smith or Tauru will be there 6. Reckon pick 28 will trade in 2025 maybe a later picks in 2024
Do you see a world Daz where if whitlock and Trainor both slide far enough that North can pick them up if they can trade down from pick 2 and trade their future second with someone in that 25-30 range? It may be a big ask and come at the expense of getting Tauru but if North can get a key forward and key defender then tick tick. Or we get Tauru with Pick 2 and trade in our future second to get either whitlock or trainor if they slide far enough? Honestly as a north fan I want this draft to be over so I know what we have done instead of hearing all the 50 bazillion different possibilities of pick swaps and who we can draft 😅
@ let’s compare the Dees with Ben Brown and without Ben Brown … we need a giant for our structure. I love JVR , Petty and Disco but they are not getting it done without him .
The system of matching bids with multiple picks has to change. It is ridiculous that teams can match a top 10 talent with multiple picks in the 40s and 50s. I would propose that bids must be matched with no more than two picks. (The 10% discount still applies) Personally I would be comfortable with making it one. With live trading and the ability to trade two years into the future, teams will easily be able to get their father son or academy guys if they want them badly enough. The salary cap and draft are the only equalising force on the league, any compromise (don't get me started of free agency compensation) is antithetical to that and should be as limited as possible.
This is the final year of the current point system next year the afl has introduced well over due changes that will address your points. While I like your idea, they should achieve close through new point system
@sash3595 I will welcome any changes in the right direction. I am sceptical that they will go far enough or close loopholes without creating other for clubs to exploit. Time will tell, I would be more than happy to be wrong.
Completely agree with you on the Dusty comparisons to Lalor mate. Richmond fans getting real toxic on heaping these expectations on him and its going to sufficate the poor lad unless they wise up to it. Great shout. Not as great as that pick trade though! it makes WAAAAAAY too much sense for both oarties to do this trade and Richmond would be foolish to pass up on this opportunity. Adelaide might trade two F3rds for WC'S F2nd (tied to Hawks I think) and package that up with pick 4 to North but IF Richmond do this trade its a given done deal. Think Lalor and FOS is a far better combination but Smith is a good shout too. Smart call for Langford to the Dee's, talk is he's botched alot of interviews with clubs though cause he's got a preference for Richmond... hopefully the kid pulls his head in. If not, he'll still fit in a Melbourne *touch wood 😂 Tauru or Armstrong at pick 7 mate is perfection. Preference is Tauru but Armstrong is the perfect plan B. And how dare you sir! LDU is staying at North. A ROO through and through!!! Care to expand on the GC logo thoughts? Hahaha Tell ya what mate. Lalor, Smith, Travaglia and Allen with Richmonds first four picks is gorgeous!!! A really strong selection for every facet of their midfield rebuild. Port selecting Shanahan is very niche tbh. Especially with how Jobe can potentially play defence in addition to the forward line. Brilliant shout! That WC trade while a win in Oliver, I believe would definitely hurt the eagles long term as their F1st (I presume. The trade was blocked out) will be a top 6 pick on 2025. HUGE loss to trade out. Looking forward to this draft alot!
Never apologise for an essay my friend, I frickin love it! Really appreciate all of the support and feedback you've given over the years mate it means a lot. Hope you can join the livestream!
the dees don't have any future assets to get back into the draft. we traded most of it away. I'd be annoyed to get Armstrong who has poor skills. The issue wit the dees is that our midfield is just as much a hole so we may go 2 mids. We also have no key backs for life after May. Another fwd would be good but it's not as big an issue as people make it out to be. Daniel Turner looked to be more than handy. Our midfield depth has no depth though. Especially if/when Oliver and Trac leave.
Not sure as a bomber fan how much I love this haul obviously love we are getting Kako but after that love Gross as a player but I see him as a mid and another 180cm mid yeah nah and unless the key fwd is to good to pass up he don’t need a key fwd and don’t know anything about Boxhall
Bombers first two picks will be eaten up in the draft by a Kako big if he want that early. Currently 28 and 31 just as an FYI. So couldn’t possibly pick up Gross at 34 unless Essendon trade back in.
@@daztalksfootyhappy to be corrected. But to my knowledge, pick 12 is worth 1268 points. Essendon have to use their next pick regardless to match, being pick 28 (677 points) which means they will have to also use pick 31 (as it currently stands which = 606 points) both totalling 1283 points, matching the bid. Unless Essendon use 28 and a bunch of later picks. Will have to be 46, 53, 54 and 65 just to match the points if Kako went 12
Completely understand, also justifiable to say why would clubs trade back into a weaker draft? It's such an interesting game of cat and mouse that's bound to happen I can't wait
@daztalksfooty lot of academy and father son prospects next year, 2 fut 2nds helps with bid matching or trading for a first that a team wants to get rid of. Dunno who could bite but the eagles need an extra pick not just an upgrade. Maybe throw in hawks fut 1st and 3rd instead . Risky to do that but we need another pick or we waste the opportunity to take advantage of this drafts quality
@ Daz if we trade 26 and a future pick for 16 which comes 19 what future pick are the eagles giving up surely not hawks first round no way but in saying that the idiot did give away pick 3
Herald Sun & Fox have reported this week that it's still a chance and in the last 5-7 days I've been told by people in the know that the talks are ongoing. It may not go through but I do my research mate, I've got an idea. It may fall through but the assumption isn't meritless
One thing I'd like the AFL media to do in the draft space is, rather than compare draftees to stars of the game, compare them to a more recent and unproven pick. That way you can give the yard stick analogy for those who don't watch the games without the expectation attached. Rather than throw around Curnow comparisons, go with a Logan McDonald comparison. It's a win win
@ cause we will be in the finals in 2027 a very quick turnaround just remember my words it’s taken 4 yrs for nth Melb and they still haven’t been no where near the finals but all we need is a full forward with 100 games under he’s belt and a one or two mids with the same sort of experience the most important coach at Richmond is Blake Caracella
Nice work Daz and congrats on a great year. Tigers didn't even have the decency to lube up when they made clarkey bend over re baker and pick 3. Yes I'm one of them still bitter and hurt. Then to add insult to injury and despite the other imbecile in that trade debacle pyke saying its important to maintain relationships, then the tigers take Allen right from under their noses. Hows that work out for you Clarke and pyke.

Dream draft for Richmond - possibly could sway Reid for Allan but other than that, think that would be a good draft for us
Yep fair deal your whole draft hand for Harley Reid sounds good to me from a lakers fan
My top 10
1. Lalor (Rich)
2. Smith (Rich) trade
3. Draper (Carl)
4. Ashcroft (Bris) matched bid
5. O'Sullivan (Adel)
6. Langford (Melb)
7. Tauru (North) trade
8. Lombard (GC) matched bid
9. Smillie (St.K)
10. Lindsay (St.K)

LDU stays a Roo! And I don't think 6 and 18 get it done.
😉
What id like to see is see my eagles keep all our picks this year but trade our and hawks fut 2nds for a late first this year.
Risky to do that but we need another pick or we waste the opportunity to take advantage of this drafts quality
why the fk would Freo trade pick 32 for a future 2nd in a weaker draft?!!!!
As I said, could be another asset to offer the Swans for Chad Warner
Suns might want to offload first next year for academy player who is rated high
What happened to the pick 6,10 & 20 trade 😆😆
It's almost like with more time and more information, an opinion can change. Crazy huh?
West Coast will take take Trainer over Oliver Daz if they trade with GWS they said in the local paper they want Trainer
I'd be happy if we couldn't get Allan then Trainor is severely underrated
@ yeah agree don’t know if Allan will be there at our pick don’t mind Murphy Reid but
Rate this
@ Daz if we trade 26 and a future pick for 16 which comes 19 what future pick are the eagles giving up surely not hawks first round no way but in saying that the idiot did give away pick 3
@nicolacantatore7095 the way this twit Clarke works probably eagles and hawks 1st rd next year
2:34 why does the lion in the top left have teeth lol
Why not my friend?
blues traded kennedy to doggies for pick 38, if doggies nominate campo at 36 causing blues to waste 38, that would be a dogs act.
Would be REAL fiesty!
Where were the hawks?
First pick atm is 33
Pick 35 in this draft mate
Pick 2 trade does not happen without F1.
Who's future first? Why would North trade two top 5 picks for Pick 6 & 18?
@@daztalksfooty Why would Richmond give up pick 18 (Jack Whitlock)?
Cool. Tigers adding adding pick 10? Without that they ain’t getting North’s F1.
Richmond won't swap for 2 you have no idea
Herald Sun & Fox have reported this week that it's still a chance and in the last 5-7 days I've been told by people in the know that the talks are ongoing.
It may not go through but I do my research mate, I've got an idea. It may fall through but the assumption isn't meritless
Youve made me angry Daz. You take Battle and now you bid on Cole. Why do you hate me so much?
Essendon bid on him mate, not the Hawks
WC need Bo Allan.
Do they? They didn't move down for him specifically (per Cal Twomey)
@@daztalksfooty Sorry.
What I mean is, I need Bo Allan.
Saw Fox Footy do this a lot better last year!
Faull is another Riewoldt watch him
Very athletic, huge call!
@@daztalksfooty give him 3 seasons u watch him be a star ⭐️
6 and 18 for 2, just no
👍
I believe it is Jack 'oh' rather than Jack 'off' so maybe not as funny as first thought sorry.
Uniacke will be a Tiger reminder me as will Cadman
Why would LDU go from one bad team to another?
Thanks legend!
Richmond don't have pick 2 ,how about actually just doing a draft in the actual order it is
Trades on draft night will happen, there's fun in predicting what they could be.
You have nothing original. Sorry.
What are you after in terms of originally my friend?
