The 'Eye Murder' Workout

- Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Brewster's Millions Of Rants with The 'Eye Murder' Workout. I've had a number of requests to feature more picking exercises, along with more arpeggio-based material, in addition to requests asking for some of my original music/ideas, including a few asking for some music from my upcoming instrumental music project 'Nilbog.' So, I'm attempting to hit all of those requests in one episode - which is exactly what you'll find hiding in this lesson - so let's dive in!
The workout featured in this episode comes from my new album and is called 'Eye Murder' - which refers to the fact that a lot of Italian horror films seem to focus on doing things to the eyes. The motif featured in this song is actually a variation of something I wrote over twenty years ago, and it eventually found its way reworked and hiding in this song.
As you'll find with the motif behind this song, this is actually a deceptively challenging picking/fretting workout as the song unfolds, as we're basically transferring the arpeggio-based motif along the guitar neck using minor third intervals (Gm-Em-Dbm-Bbm). This position-shifting idea creates a number of challenges, not to mention the tricky intervallic picking pattern that leaps around the strings as it unfolds. It's actually a great workout hiding in one of my new songs!
Needless to say, if you've asked for more exercises/workouts, or asked for some of my original music/material, would like to boost your picking/fretting technique and ability, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson is totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
This is awesome David🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸 Can’t wait for the cd!!
It's just beautiful in a spooky way. Dreamy is another way to say it. Love the clean tone, and moving in minor thirds. Thanks so much.
Just in time, I was just repeating the same maj7 arpeggios everyday for weeks
I always loved the sound of chromatic mediants ever since I became a Rush fan.
This is super cool sounding David, looking forward to the album release.🥰😊
Brilliant lesson, Dude. Beautiful arpeggios. 🤘
Watching this episode having my guitar over my lap definitely made my day. Thank you very much, Dave!
Cool riff!
It creates tension as it descends and ascends the fretboard.
I get tubular bell's vibes.
Great stuff. Would be wonderful if you could do some Tony McAlpine. Just discovering his more recent stuff like 'Concrete Gardens'
Excellent work David. You nailed the mysterious vibe sound perfectly. You can close your eyes and fit any type of sick, tormented acts to it. 🎸🤘🏼👍🏻
Very cool tune , Dave !! Definitely a demanding workout !!
Felt the Giallo vibe. Like it
Sounds really nice and very Gobliny.
Nice, dark moody feel. Thanks for sharing...
Nice one.✨🌴✨
once again Dave made it look easy. I was able to get it down, but slow and clumsy. I'm happy, I had never heard of Goblin
great piece David, reminded me of tubular bells at times.
I like what you're laying down Dave. Looks like a massive finger workout.
Eye definitely dig that song!
Love it!❤ Thanks!!!
That's awesome bro... Thank you 🤘🤘🤘
So damn gnarley thanks a bunch for this!
Creepy Italian horror vibe for sures 😂

Loved it gonna work on it 🎶 🎵
The first few notes of each chord sounds similar to the intro of (mountain song of Satriani) you sound great and the song is mysterious, full of suspense and artistic🔥🤘
Great!
Really cool. Sound simple, but playing it completely without a mistake is the hard part. haha Plus: it reminds me of John Carpenter‘s music on guitar. Great stuff!
thanks 4 this one
Very coo!
Great title, reminds me of the Lucio Fulci films (Zombie, Gates of Hell, The Beyond, House by the cemetary)
Very cool. You're also playing my favorite guitar 🎸.
What brand is it? I've been curious about it for a long time.
Great stuff David...Could you please do some BTO with Randy Bachman also The Guess WHO?
Congratulatiobns!
Stephen King's Creepshow shirt- Excellent!
Uuuuu... Spooky thing) ahahaha
Love the song. Nailing that Italian horror movie vibe. Is the album drumless?
intrigue and suspense from the mind of mR. late night... 🎵r0ck0n 🎵
I like it...beautiful but weird and frightening like my life😊
i would enjoy a David Brewster 3 for all
Fantastic... Do I hear an echo of Fripp and Belew's arpeggios from 80's King Crimson?
My birthday is Aug 31 man! Happy early birfday!
I remember you're goblin lesson last summer it was killer. I want to check out some of their music where should i start
Hey! I would suggest starting with their first album which is called 'Cherry Five.'
That one was recorded before they were called Goblin and it's really great.
Also, check out their album 'Roller' for more of their non-soundtrack music.
From there, feel free to venture into their soundtracks and explore.
Good luck and have fun!
@LateNightLessons did they change their name to goblin reqium
Can you do a soloing secrets or a deep dive on Eddie hazel please?
Bro will you do any Angels songs? Rick Brewster is by far my favourite rock Guitarist..maybe "Long Line" ect..cheers..
The picking is not obvious. I see you are picking twice down the first time, but I have a hard time finishing the second half with a pick up like you do. I guess I naturally pick "inside" the strings but I see you tend to pick "outside" if I'm not mistaken.
really cool workout and for some reason has some Goblin horror flavour, might be just me.
reminds me of the exorcist
too hard ..💀💀
Consider it a challenge. Doing the "too hard" stuff is how we become better players. 🙂
@@aylbdrmadison1051 tnx captain obvious x
