- In 1991 Saatchi & Saatchi got together with Wellington Newspapers Ltd to create a pick-me-up campaign for the capital post-NZ stock market crash. Such was the success of the Absolutely Positively Wellington print campaign, it got turned into this TV commercial, became the city's brand, still drives the coolest little capital in the world's thinking and is quoted to this day.

Woot! What a delight to see this online. I first saw this at Wellington Museum a year or so ago. Its so striking how much is the same and how much is different now. I enjoyed seeing Broadcasting House RIP at the end behind the Beehive.
I was also struck at how dynamic and 'edgy' this video was, lost of fast custs and quick shots even by 2023 standards.
This is a great ad for Wellington. So much has changed in Wellington...love the catchy tune.
Love it!!! This ad is a true classic with a great heart!
1:07 was the spikey arch outside a house in Abel Smith Street by the top end of the Terrace. I always think of it when I walk past, although it must have been gone for over twenty years now.
Best commercial ever for WLG. Perfect song choice. Needs a remake.
Capital E and all the schools in wellington region met there and sung songs.
I just cannot stop thinking about Shrek every time I hear this song.
I am still a believer!
Absolutely Wellytown
Depressing town, never want to go back there, but interesting to see this video. Cheers!
Quite simple...if you don't like it then bugger off & let those of us do enjoy it without trolls x
If they do a remake , hope bros has to be included . Best bar in wellington no doubt .
Lol
Can't beat Wellington on a good day!
Yeah that one day a year is really worth it all. Not!
0:53 John Key? haha
1:13 Look closely, thats Burger King on the corner, no?
The building might be BK now, but no sign of that in this video.
Close , thats the Public Trust buildling on Lambton Quay. Its a little bit different from the Burger King that was on Manners Mall.
@@doublebanana-de3dt Wait, you say "was" on Manners Mall? Its no longer there?! I have not been there in years and last I was there I was pretty disappointed with what they had done to Manners Mall. Buses were driving through it!
DUMP
