The June flower pants! So fun! I think one thing that draws me to all of your makes is they look so fun and cute, but they also look so so comfortable 🩷🩷🩷🩷
Thank you so much Nicole!! If I have a choice, I'm going to pick comfortable over fussy/uncomfortable! We're creating functional art and I want it to feel good too!! Take care friend ❤️❤️❤️
Zinnias are the Show-Offs in a garden! I love their bright happy colors…always makes me smile! Are Zinnias your color inspiration? You have a lot of those colors in tops, sweaters, H&H wraps… Rift tee is in my library, I really must make this top! Short Rows defined by color…hmmm, great idea! Thanks for more ideas!
I definitely get a lot of color inspo from nature and gravitate towards the colors of the zinnias (and have in years past knit my daughter a pair of socks in stripes inspired by zinnias!) but I wouldn't say I'm specifically looking at the zinnias generally for color inspo? Like it makes sense that I'd plant flowers in colors I gravitate towards because I enjoy looking at them. I pick the colors I feel like wearing that I think would go well with the pattern and go from there! Inspiration comes from many directions!
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes True! I wouldn’t be able to pick a favorite flower (or color!) because there’s so many shades of a single flower/color. Sometimes the season determines my Fave Color of the moment, yellow/purple spring, fuchsia or blue in summer, Cardinal red in winter… Color choices are never-ending! Yarn dyers keep me fascinated with their ability to create sooo many variations of color! My yarn stash is proof!! I’m always glad to see bouquets from your garden!
Thanks so much! I think the benefit with knitting is that if it doesn't work out, just rip it out! The yarn can usually be re-used (unless it's a steeked colorwork project where the steeks are cut and then there's no turning back lol).
Another delightful and inspiring video. Your chartruse/blue top is amazing. You definitely have a gift for color pairing. Having hand knitted socks for the beginning of each school year is such a wonderful gift. Your daughters will remember that tradition all their lives.
You just convinced me to order the pinafore pattern, lol. I've bookmarked this episode so I can come back and refer to your very clever striping and color blocking on the Rift Tee. Also, I'm really liking Purl Soho's Fine Print yarn. Really nice stitch definition and feels good in the hands.
I hope the pinafore pattern works out for you! Sew Liberated has a UA-cam video on it too I think - featuring different views and fabrics and styling. Or maybe it's part of a video showcasing different Sew Liberated patterns styled together...hmmm now I can't remember....lol. I totally forgot to talk about the feel of the Fine Print yarn *face palm* - agree with everything you said!
Stephanie, I have just started knitting socks. For the longest time I was not interested. I started knitting in 2016 and in all that time I have had no desire to knit socks - until now. So I have tried my mini needles that I use for baby hats and Addie flexi-flips and have not loved either of those experiences. So after watching you, I guess I’m gonna go with your method! Hey I hope you are planning to attend the Unwind Retreat in KC in March! I’m going and really hoping to connect with my online friends 😊
Hi! Sometimes our moods change how we feel about different knitting methods. I've tried magic loop, dpns, and 9" circulars. For colorwork and vanilla (stockinette) and simple ribbed socks I prefer 9" circulars. For a heel flap I'll switch to dpns while the front instep half of the sts are on hold on the 9" circulars and then when I get to the toes I switch to magic loop - I realize that isn't the most efficient use of tools since it means I need all three types but it's what works for me and I enjoy the process of knitting on those sections with those types of needles. If I'm doing a shadow wrap short row heel I can just stay on 9" circulars and switch to magic loop for the toes. Wasn't sure if you've caught previous episodes where I talk about how I like to knit my socks but thought I'd mention it since you mentioned your experience with different sock needles. I will not be at the retreat, have a great time!
I really enjoyed seeing your final collection of summer knits and sews. You apron is adorable, and I think you'll also get a lot of use from the longer version. Love all the layering. I'm getting ready to start "The Oceans And The Stars", a recent novel by Mark Helprin. I saw an interview with him on UA-cam this week, in two parts so a couple of hours altogether. Turns out he was right in my town for the interview, Charleston.
It's been SOO much fun following along to see the beautiful things you made this summer, Stephanie! You're kinda making me want to sew.... which is so, "sew" dangerous. Eeek! BTW - do you have a serger? I have a dinky sewing machine (that I've had since high school), and I always thought it wouldn't be a good machine with which to make garments because the hems(?) would not be secured and might fray easily. Thoughts on this? Also... I loved the sock parade. To end the series with a sock parade was seriously a cherry on top. :)
Always great to "see" you Eunice! I do have a serger and I use it all the time (and growing up my mom had a serger so that's how I learned how to use one) but that being said, I don't think it's necessary to have a serger in order to sew garments that don't fall apart. There are many ways to finish seams without a serger! If you have the option of going to a local fabric store or sewing store, I recommend going in and talking to someone who has experience and knowledge of many many machines and tell them what you'd like to do and what your price range is and maybe they can guide you in the direction that's the best fit?? Thank you so much for hanging out as always dear friend! Sending love, talk soon!
Question for you and the row counts on your sock and notes. Do you use a stitch counter so you know how many rounds you complete for each sock. Also, do you start out with notes or do you go back and note what you did? I find I start strong but then forget to update. The girls' socks are adorbs!
Great question! I use lightbulb stitch markers to mark every 10 rnds and just make sure both socks match up that way. I take notes along the way in a project notebook. Thanks!
So pretty! I love everything you make :) If/when you have time to answer, how do you read Aimee Sher's patterns? Do you print them out or do you have an eReader you like? I was put off by the small font so I printed out The Weekday Tee on large font and it's so much paperwork. I will eventually get to it, hopefully during winter break for the kids, but I'm feeling a bit disheartened by the whole thing. And, apologies for filling up your comments section and thank you for reading all that 😂 sometimes I think I should make my own youtube channel just to connect with other knitters so I can bounce ideas off of folks.
Thank you so much!! I print patterns because I don't enjoy reading pattern off a screen. I'll only print the pages I need though and if a page has only a paragraph of info I need on it, I'll write out what I need to know on one of the pages I have printed out so that I don't have to print an extra page just for that. OR if I know I'll be working off a laptop at that time because I need to focus sitting at a table, I'll zoom in on that section so it fills up my whole screen.
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes thank you for answering my question. I really appreciate it! Those are things I do. It must be an issue with my printer reader then. I'll play around with some settings and see if I can figure out what's going on.

i believe 'nursery' is flame retardant
Oh interesting. I thought "nursery" just meant how the fabrics were organized into sections!
