It deleted one of the most dangerous parts of her kit for zero effort.
Not true. Her cooldown worked the same as it does now. It was just two seconds longer (12s) - and the cooldown only stacked up to 3. @Mr Jayboo she was not Fine.if you think a 5/6 range with 200 HP is ok, with a hero that had 1 HP in the turrets you are literally delusional. People got grandmaster because they are one tricks not because the hero is good. I'd love to see Symmetra as a support these days, but there's no way she can be good without healing in the current meta where all supports heal
@Mr Jayboo If the Overwatch team at the time thought about making the game more tactical and less reliant on healing and sustein maybe it would actually work these days.
Poor Zarya... they really nerfed her bad. I love playing as her, but the damage reduction and charge loss increase just makes it so hard to do anything.
I feel like if they made any changes though she just rolls entire lobby's even today I can still roll entire lobby's in like 2800 SR. When I smurfed (smurfed for about 100 games max ) in 2300 or higher SR range I had to intentionally bubble myself badly because of positioning I would just live entire game while killing 4 every fight if I wanted to. Zarya is just really dependant on your positioning and bubble management and knowing the heroes limit. Also dependant on enemy's ability to hit multiple headshots in a row. That's probably why she feels bad to play in higher rank because you won't live long enough to get away while still being effective after you used your personal bubble to get away. Also the fact of the enormous amount of heroes that can either fly or have vertical movement.
great intro 🤣 also to add on dooms slam if you slam close to someone they get pushed away from you. if you slam someone at the mid - end of your slam they get pulled towards you. this was a great qol change for doom
Sym has always been my favorite and this brought back some memories. i miss the locking beam so much, one of my favorite comps was lucio speed boost + mercy damage boost + sym locking beam. also because the teleporter came from the spawn room to the teleport, i would always find a really nice spot in the flank. i would wait for my team to wipe and place the teleporter down, they would all respawn then take the teleporter and instantly be in the enemy flank. also flanking with the locking beam while spamming turrets on the floor behind the healers was super fun.
Don't know the reason but like, his passive is gonna be something that all tanks will have in OW2 so its a default thing for the role except he just got it early.
@@rexoverwatch more or less. Say for example you play Tracer or Soldier vs an enemy team with a Hog tank. Before the passive people used to think that it was better to farm the hog until they could pop off their ults. Now that Hog gives less ult charge it makes those players take risky angles to get their ult, at the expense of getting punished for doing so.
I remember when I started playing OW and tried Soldier, the spread was so much I even got a mouse with and extra left click that was an auto burst mode to bypass the spread problem, I got so used to shoot in 3 bullet bursts when Bap came especially after a short time buff to his firing rate, I felt really comfortable playing him, man he even outgunned Soldier during that time.
I gotta disagree about Sym's old teleporter as an ult. Just because people trolled with it in QP doesn't mean it was underwhelming. With the unlimited range, if you could stealthily flank and place it out of the way behind enemy lines you could teleport your entire team behind the opponent and catch them completely off guard and out of position. Offense on Volskaya in particular was prime for this kind of play. Overall she is obviously a better hero now, but that teleporter made for some very impactful and memorable plays for sure.
I think it's also worth noting that reaper's shadowstep gave an easy headshot, since he would be outlined before teleporting, whereas now he's invisible until he actually teleports.
Next experimental card should be 4 weeks of all heroes with their historical best stats and another 4 weeks with all heroes with their historical weakest stats.
I really appreciate how u put effort not just into these video's but also your sponsorship messages. Making them quirky and engaging is a win win for everyone involved and really shows that you straight up care
Honestly Winston is the most balanced hero in my opinion, you play well: you get picks and ult charge, you play badly: you get rolled on universal levels
after she got her mini rework that replaced her shield on an ally to a barrier and gave her, her ult choice between 75 shields or teleporter, that was so fun i want to have that back so bad most fun on any hero
Think it shows how much power creep has affected overwatch across the years. As is normal for every game. The weakest states are mostly all sub 2018 for every OG hero
Bastion actually has an effective 375 HP due to ironclad, due to it being a 20% damage reduction, which translates to a 25% increase in effective health, not 360
You forgot about the untargetable in cryo change for Mei which they did to add more salt to injury and removed synergy with supports... I didn't know that her weakest state would be considered launch of the game, I always found her to be more fun as a close range rather than mainly using the icicles hero but nowadays you never can use her beam because it's too useless unlike back in the day. So April 2020 - October 2020 seemed to be her weakest state, she couldn't even counter a Hammond, not that she can now or anything
Tbh I don't think Ashe was that bad at her launch state, but the QOL changes were pretty nice. If all they added was that, and didn't change her hipfire spread, reload, or clip size, I think she would not have been a problem. The thing about Ashe that a lot of people simply do not understand is that every part of her kit has a weakness built into it, so you have to manage all of it really well to be effective. Her ammo, making sure you don't whiff or are in range of the dynamite, knocking yourself into a corner or pit with coach gun, or throwing Bob off the map. There's a lot more room for error with Ashe that is sorely missing with a lot of heroes.
I wouldn't say Ashe has that much more room for error than other heroes. Not whiffing can apply to any character and falling into pits and corners also applies to any hero with a movement ability. I will say her ammo management is specific to her and but wasting your ultimate is again, nothing specific to her. She's not the easiest character to play but she's not the most difficult.
Ashe was spread too thin. She was trying to be too many things at once and didn't do any of them particularly well You wanted long ranged poke: Widow and Hanzo were straight up better heroes. Ashe doesn't even have the advantage of her verticality here bc both can easily take high ground You want a midranged poke character: Cassidy was just better at that and his flashbang was a more useful counter dive/1v1 tool You wanted poke and AoE: Pharah and Junkrat were still generally better at fulfilling that role Like Ashe was a nice character in the sense that she has a lot of role compression: but it wasn't needed. She was only the ideal option in the extremely fringe scenario that you needed a backliner and AoE at the same time and even then I found pharmercy was much more effective in doing that
@@suppmydiff3257 Ashe does midrange better than Cassidy. Cassidy is more up close than Ashe due to his flashbang, fan the hammer, and worst fall off range
absolutely appreciate the effort you and your team put in the videos, i dont play ow anymore but i loved watching this and remembering all these moments in time, thank you karq!
One addition to the Zenyatta bit that a lot of people forget was he was actually slower than everyone else! Not only was his ult his speed and his health tiny but he was slow so he could barely get to fights on tine with it and would die very quickly as he was an easy target
Forgot to mention Reaper used to also have a ~1 second recovery window where he stood absolutely still after using Shadow Step which made him super easy to kill as Hanzo or Widow with an easy Headshot, or to CC as Ana or McCree
Also for Reaper, don't forget that he didn't have i-frames nor invisibility during his teleport, making it suicidal to tp on a Widowmaker or something like that (it's still risky today, because the players have gotten better at the game, but just imagine having 2 seconds to lineup a headshot on a Reaper standing perfectly still, no way you miss that) Also for Symmetra, teleporter was just a "get back into the fight". You only placed the exit and the entry was automatically placed at spawn. And as you can see in the clips, it's a one-way portal, you couldn't even use it to go back to spawn and switch your hero quickly
I remember taking a break from the game for 6ish months right when Hog became able to use breather while moving and when I came back it caught me so off guard lmao
I'm pretty sure old Sym turrets used to do 30dps, not 25dps. Going from 2.0 to 3.0 her turrets got a nerf in "potential" damage. Her turrets used to do 180dps total - and with 3.0 it got nerfed to 150dps total... and now they do 120dps total. This is all under the assumption that they didn't buff turret damage from 1.0 to 2.0... which I'm fairly certain they did not. As far as I'm aware all they did to the turrets from 1.0 to 2.0 was lower the cooldown by two seconds and make it so she can hold 6 turrets at once instead of just 3.
25:04 so that's what the orbs did, huh? 31:50 and that explains why the report section specifies under game sabotage the situation where Symm's tp is used to yeet teammated off the map, which made sense with the old TP ult instead of the current one with the limited distance. 33:35 man I'm really learning history here, I always wondered what was all about old Torb, I started playing in 2018 when Brig was dominating and never saw a Torb in a match until the rework that gave Torb the "splatoon" ult.
Sad times for Ball players, very hard to play hero with moderate to high risk to get decent value, while sigma and hog get higher value literally by standing still. Still my main hero forever.
ball and risk dont go in the same sentence. You still need a combination of 3 counters to burst simultaneously (like hog zen mccree) only 2 of them will never kill a ball. Which is to say, at that point, when you have 3+ counters, FKIN SWITCH MAN! Ball players have been so used to being actually immortal with 4-5 counters from the early days, that they think countering shouldnt apply to them at all. Please name 1 other hero, who can walk past 3 hard coutners, be stopped for a second to soak damage, and still get away 80% of the time? yeah. noone else.
I’ve only played overwatch since January of last year, but I’ve played Ashe quite a bit, to the point that if my team wants a good hitscan they’ll sub me in. The hitscan nerf ran her into the ground. She had gotten two nerfs before that, and while she’s still alright, I’d just rather play cree or hanzo
I miss 2.0 Sym. She really required work to make work(especially since she was considered a throw pick). I definitely miss Shield Gen and OG Teleporter. A good Shield Gen placement usually took a flanker outta the game trying to find it, and while everyone hated Mass Res, OG Teleporter had the same potential to be as annoying. Loved slipping away from losing battles and having my team wait in spawn for a TP behind enemy lines. I also miss blocking ults with OG Photon Barrier.
Remember Sym 2.0 shields stacked with Torb armor in old CTF? Yeah, that shit was cancer. And it caused many, many, many stalemates. It was nice to have either one or the other, not both. But neither exist anymore, so whatever.
On the Ashe part, there was like some sort of delay after each click untill she would fire. It was miliseconds, but noticable. Thats why she felt so off, you'd click their heads, but by the time she fired, you'd be a pixel to the left or right
While I wouldn't object to a buff for Mercy to break the 4-5 year nerf streak (yes, it's really that bad), I think what she really needs is a rework to make her reward skillful play. The two main complaints I've seen from DPS players is that 1) They feel rez is too impactful, and 2) They feel like she has a low skill ceiling. I think Mercy could definitely be reworked somehow to address point number 2. I don't think you can remove rez from Mercy, though. Blizzard has tried many times before, but removing rez is like taking away Rein's shield - it's something iconic to her character. All I can say is that I think rez is in a state right now where only the most diehard complainers still have a problem with it. There's nothing stopping you from shooting a stationary Mercy while she's in her rezzing animation except your own skill level. And with its long CD, it's not something you even have to worry about that often. But back on point #2, I would really be interested to see the Overwatch team tackle a rework of Mercy that makes her more accepted by the DPS community who feel triggered by a single support, and maybe more fun and rewarding for people playing her.
iirc Ashe scope used to be locked at 60hz at release too, which took around a month to fix to uncapped refresh rate. It felt so horrendously bad to try and ads with her back then and this was just the nail on the coffin back then

I kinda wanna see a 5v5 total mayhem of that
YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT ASHE DIDNT HAVE A GOLDEN BOB IN HER WEAKEST STATE
I honestly prefer the old Symmetra. She was so much fun to play when I didn’t want to actually try.
same with torb.
just build your turret and watch it get to level 3 and do all the work.
Honestly same. I just like melting genjis and watch them rage in chat
@Mr Jayboo The current one is useful
She actually still quite strong in my opinion
You are capping hard. All you need is good bubble management and you'll have a consistent 70-80% charge at all times.
@@charKT-7461 What objective are they capping?
@@scam your dad
great intro 🤣
also to add on dooms slam
if you slam close to someone they get pushed away from you.
if you slam someone at the mid - end of your slam they get pulled towards you.
this was a great qol change for doom
the biggest nerf in ow history is changing mcrees name to cassidy
Sym has always been my favorite and this brought back some memories. i miss the locking beam so much, one of my favorite comps was lucio speed boost + mercy damage boost + sym locking beam. also because the teleporter came from the spawn room to the teleport, i would always find a really nice spot in the flank. i would wait for my team to wipe and place the teleporter down, they would all respawn then take the teleporter and instantly be in the enemy flank.
also flanking with the locking beam while spamming turrets on the floor behind the healers was super fun.
29:10 hack also didn't disable passives like lucio songs or genji double jump which made it significantly weaker
I miss old torb, loved it when he dropped armour for his teammates
summers symetra armor
but that level 3 turret on low ranks is a nightmare
There's still that pre-release gameplay video of Reaper with 400 health thanks to Sym's shield/Torb's armour. That would be utterly ridiculous today
7:48 Someone needs to be fired for not putting Hog's new passive on the F1 screen. I'm furious.
Don't know the reason but like, his passive is gonna be something that all tanks will have in OW2 so its a default thing for the role except he just got it early.
@@thebigzan you've nerfed my ferocity by 5% lol
That passive should be named "Thicc".
@@josewolf9884 too funny, check this out though. an ult nerf discourages players to attack tanks....shouldn't we Encourage players to attack tanks?
KarQ: “Bastion was able to headshot in sentry, self repair was unlimited, his ultimate was cheaper and it gave 150 extra armor”
Also KarQ: “weakest”
And it's hilarious how brig would be the best in both patches
I really appreciate how u put effort not just into these video's but also your sponsorship messages. Making them quirky and engaging is a win win for everyone involved and really shows that you straight up care
Honestly Winston is the most balanced hero in my opinion, you play well: you get picks and ult charge, you play badly: you get rolled on universal levels
not a hero that can be played without good healing and a hero that relies on others to be effective is definitely not the most balanced.
@@bobparkes2493 gold SR opinion
Love the detail of putting Donkey Kong music on when going over Winston 😂🤣😂
Cassidy's weakest state was when they changed his name to "Cole Cassidy"
after she got her mini rework that replaced her shield on an ally to a barrier and gave her, her ult choice between 75 shields or teleporter, that was so fun i want to have that back so bad most fun on any hero
I had noticed at exactly 6:18 that "you will know our names" was playing, and it sent my brain into an adrenaline filled panic
As a DVa main who started 2 years ago that og kit make me cry
Think it shows how much power creep has affected overwatch across the years. As is normal for every game.
The weakest states are mostly all sub 2018 for every OG hero
I think he completely overlooked power creep in this entire video. Raw stats do not do justice in this regard.
Dps cast would just be "weakest state is during goats because goats"
I love how you gave every hero their own theme music in the background.
Love the minor detail by playing Donkey kongs theme in the background while talking about Winston
The game has changed so much, its crazy. A lot of clunky stuff and mechanics have been removed and others fixed.
Bastion actually has an effective 375 HP due to ironclad, due to it being a 20% damage reduction, which translates to a 25% increase in effective health, not 360
Excited for this, the strongest one was very entertaining.
Hey everyone, and welcome to a cool new game I just made up: It’s called “Guess who plays Ashe?”
Man, I’m an asshole.
Ashe was spread too thin. She was trying to be too many things at once and didn't do any of them particularly well
You wanted long ranged poke: Widow and Hanzo were straight up better heroes. Ashe doesn't even have the advantage of her verticality here bc both can easily take high ground
You want a midranged poke character: Cassidy was just better at that and his flashbang was a more useful counter dive/1v1 tool
You wanted poke and AoE: Pharah and Junkrat were still generally better at fulfilling that role
Like Ashe was a nice character in the sense that she has a lot of role compression: but it wasn't needed.
@@ricocarpenter2189 she is *now*
I'm talking release Ashe. When hitscan didn't have damage falloff
The amount of effort on these videos is insane
absolutely appreciate the effort you and your team put in the videos, i dont play ow anymore but i loved watching this and remembering all these moments in time, thank you karq!
Syms old TP was connected to the spawn area, so it was sorta like a mercy rez with different positioning
One addition to the Zenyatta bit that a lot of people forget was he was actually slower than everyone else! Not only was his ult his speed and his health tiny but he was slow so he could barely get to fights on tine with it and would die very quickly as he was an easy target
Wow I love the new intro! :D
Forgot to mention Reaper used to also have a ~1 second recovery window where he stood absolutely still after using Shadow Step which made him super easy to kill as Hanzo or Widow with an easy Headshot, or to CC as Ana or McCree
F in the chat for that roadhog who fell off the map taking tp from spawn
going thru these and seeing the old ways the heroes worked gives me so much nostalgia. symm, sombra, reaper. the good ol days
2:19 I think D.Va wasn’t able to shoot while boosting at that time too
Bastion is so weak we can't even play him, he died in the character select screen 😂
update to genji he is in his worst state atm
Also for Reaper, don't forget that he didn't have i-frames nor invisibility during his teleport, making it suicidal to tp on a Widowmaker or something like that (it's still risky today, because the players have gotten better at the game, but just imagine having 2 seconds to lineup a headshot on a Reaper standing perfectly still, no way you miss that)
Also for Symmetra, teleporter was just a "get back into the fight". You only placed the exit and the entry was automatically placed at spawn. And as you can see in the clips, it's a one-way portal, you couldn't even use it to go back to spawn and switch your hero quickly
Also for D.Va, you didn't used to be able to shoot primary fire while boosting
that sponsor sounds like they mine bitcoin on your machine and give you a little present here and there. very suspicious
we need this for re done for current states
It’s crazy how they took doomfist and said “let’s make him the worst in history”
14:52, blizzard also nerfed Cassidy's name for it used to be McCree
I remember taking a break from the game for 6ish months right when Hog became able to use breather while moving and when I came back it caught me so off guard lmao
Great to see you still finding ideas for content keep up the great work
That old Rein v. Sym clip hurt my soul
Lmao I forgot when Torb was just a copy of Engineer from TF2.
Don't forget Widow used to do 150hp a body shot, which meant that launch zen would get one shot body shot with that round ass hitbox
The symmetra teleport trolling, man. Holy, what a throwback I love it.
the intro was so good dude
Man I forgot about that Winston shield change, man that was rough
so many of the dates on screen don't line up with what karq actually says, especially during the mid dps section XD
I love how he plat Zangief's theme when he was talking about zarya
25:04 so that's what the orbs did, huh?
31:50 and that explains why the report section specifies under game sabotage the situation where Symm's tp is used to yeet teammated off the map, which made sense with the old TP ult instead of the current one with the limited distance.
33:35 man I'm really learning history here, I always wondered what was all about old Torb, I started playing in 2018 when Brig was dominating and never saw a Torb in a match until the rework that gave Torb the "splatoon" ult.
I just finished watching your other video last night and was just like I wonder what the weakest everyone was? Thank you karq😁
Please name 1 other hero, who can walk past 3 hard coutners, be stopped for a second to soak damage, and still get away 80% of the time? yeah. noone else.
Cassidy on release? there was no such hero named Cassidy on release
Cassidy’s worst state was his name change
Unpopular Opinion: D.Va was most balanced on release and only made the game worse as she was buffed.
@@LegendkillerBlueFire I didnt play CTP because I hated the gamemode so I cant relate lol
On the Ashe part, there was like some sort of delay after each click untill she would fire. It was miliseconds, but noticable.
Thats why she felt so off, you'd click their heads, but by the time she fired, you'd be a pixel to the left or right

There has never been a time that widow wasn’t the worst character.
Doomfist in ow2 has made a huge low
No he's not, you gotta play him like a tank now, not a dps
As a brig main suffering is just the only option
Ah, yes, the good old days of teleporting your team off the map...
I love the way you talk it's just so smooth
“Come get yer armor” -Torbjorn 2016-2017
iirc Ashe scope used to be locked at 60hz at release too, which took around a month to fix to uncapped refresh rate. It felt so horrendously bad to try and ads with her back then and this was just the nail on the coffin back then
I remember making a single big pile of armor packs when playing torb. It was kinda like your private health pack whenever a tracer came to duel me
Zarya really did just go from being one of the weakest tanks to being the strongest in the game with the release of overwatch 2
