  • We take the ferry from Sliema over to Valletta, the capital city of Malta.
Valletta was founded in the 1500s by the Knights of St. John and is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Walking through the city streets complete with their Maltese balconies and ornate door knockers. As well as some grand baroque style churches and buildings.
From the Upper Barrakka Gardens, we watch the noonday gun before heading to Fort St Elmo which is now the National War Museum.
For all fans of the film Midnight Express, Fort St Elmo was used as the location of the Turkish prison where the American Billy Hayes was held prisoner.
We take a look at the fort but unfortunately, the main location of Midnight Express was the lower fort courtyard which is not accessible although you can clearly see it from the ramparts.
We would definitely recommend Valletta as a city break destination and it’s only a 3-hour flight from the UK. #Valletta #FilmLocation

Showing the place, talking about the actor who made the film Davis, who died very young and highlighting the beauty of the song, are important factors to know that it is a power of the seventh art... A perfect masterpiece, Congratulations !

Midnight Express is my favourite movie since I was a child. I am 47 now. Now that I have watched your video I cant wait to go there and be there myself. Im planning to recreate the final scene. A shame they dont let you in what it was the prison

It is a very good film although not the most cheerful. I don't know what they intend to to do with the lower fort, the part they used as the prison in the film. Where they filmed the last scene as he walked away is instantly recognisable.
