I am a massage therapist and have had one bout of sciatica and work with client having had sciatica as well. I do not believe in remaining in excruciating pain. I will temporarily take the pain medicine while radically addressing sciatica. I use THC oils, regular stretching and yoga. Pidgeon pose has helped considerably. After massage session ( focus on gluts, feet and legs), I take Epsom sales baths, and ice-heat-ice. Never stop stretching and yoga is excellent for hip openers and release low back pain. Glut massages and specifically the piriformis muscle attached to the tail bone and hip joint has sciatic nerve the runs from the foot through leg, gluts the low back ( sciatic notch). Right, doctors want to make cash and send you through the whole program of examinations like X-rays, blood tests, cancer examinations, and brain scans. They know very well that there is no cure for sciatica except healthy food and exercise. Of course, in the case of inflammation, you need a powerful remedy such as turmeric tea or nettle tea. Exercises in the pelvic area are important, as they relax the nerves.

I didn't want pills or surgery but if a trauma or injury is left untreated and I'm using supposed anti-inflammatorys you need surgery PT to get a fresh start as you were before injured
I have been battling with sciatica for a year now. It was intense at first, to the extent that I had to crawl. I first thought it was a pelvic problem until I went to a physiotherapist who confirmed it as sciatica and had an X-ray 🩻 scan diagnosing it to be spinal sclerosis on the L-spine. I took injections a month after the pain started, the pains were relieved until after a week, it became worse. I could neither stand nor sit. Thankfully since the beginning of the year, it hasn’t been as painful as before. I am still going through physiotherapy sessions. I couldn’t do any physical exercises, but as at March, I aggressively started to workout 🏋️♀️ in spite of the pain. The journey has not been easy but it has been worth traveling.
Similar situation here. I took the diagnostic injection. It lasted a day. Then I had radiowave nerve ablation. I'm not sure it really made that much difference. I've been given morphine patches, Amitriptyline, Vallium. They're all horrid. Espesially the Morphine! I never felt so ill in my life! Slowly, over 6+ months my back has improved. There are good days when I think I'm finally getting over it. Then there are bad days when it seems to go backwards. So frustrating. I think it's just a question of time and patience. The two things modern life is chronically short of. One crucial thing I have learned is that there is no one cure fits all. An exercise that works for one wont necessarily work for another, which is what makes it doubly hard to fix. We're in the dark from day one. I do hope we both keep getting better. We've just gotta stick with it I guess. Sending love and healing hugs from Kent in England xxx
Today I bought a bottle of valerian tincture in a good herbal shop. I have to say that the remedy worked immediately. The pain in my right leg has temporarily disappeared. Now I just have to wait and see how it continues in the next few days. I also ordered a heatable knee warmer. If my knee hurts at night, heat from a hot water bottle is good. I put the hot water bottle under my knee and this relaxes the knee.

The meds or pressure or such caused me to be crippled for 3 week,s I had to go to the hospital, It was the worst pain Ive ever felt, I litterally could not get verticle, I had to crawl on the ground like a snake, Even at the hospital, I had to crawl. Its evil pain
Try on the bed, I find walking is the best exercise, my work is physical so at work the pain goes, sitting down is bad for sciatica, if I watch TV I lie down, if u work in an office, try and stand
I liked most of this but felt it missed some key helpers that you can do daily. Chamomile tea twice a day. Magnisium taurate 2 or 3 times a day. Cbd at night, so you can get a deep rest. Garden of life cbd, inflammation response. Read and test the levels you need to keep the nerves quiet. It takes about 4 to 5 months.
I exercise and eat pretty clean and have tried about every supplement available, didnt see any noticable relief from any diet, supplement changes, I think the most important diet move to make is to drink tons of water, nothing but water, and maybe limit acidic foods.

Omega-3. Anti-inflammatory. Not more than 50g/day max. If you have hypertension or diabetes, consult your physician before taking any. Also you might be allergic to the chia seeds.
Stretching and CBD helps me deal with Sciatica flare ups. Also sitting on a foam roller and rolling back and forth over the Piriformis muscle which is under the buttocks helps too.
Get yourself in to consult with a physical therapist. You'll get some specific exercises and stretches that will help you get better again, and out of that wheelchair.

Healthy Pina Colada Chia Parfait A gluten free, dairy free, vegan and paleo chia parfait with no sugar added. Rich in healthy protein, healthy fats, vitamins and electrolytes! Ingredients : 1/4 cup chia seeds 1 1/2 cups coconut milk (or other plant-milk) about 1 cup chopped fresh ripe pineapple a handful of coconut flakes Directions : Mix the chia seeds with coconut milk in a mason jar or bowl and set aside the fridge overnight or 6-8 hours minimum. (After about 1/2 hour, come back and mix the chia in the coconut milk again so they don’t stick near the bottom). It’s best to keep mixing them every couple of hours so that the seeds don’t stick and settle near the bottom.) Blend the pineapple in a blender or in a separate bowl with an immersion blender and top your chia pudding with the pineapple puree. Sprinkle coconut flakes on top and enjoy!

I'm sending this to my son whom is a sufferer of bad sciatica I hope this helps as nothing else has. I hate seeing him suffer.
check out dr bergs video on sciatica
I can relate to your son I suffer from sciatica pain I don’t wish that on no one prayers to your son
Valerian root works For sciatica
Today I bought a bottle of valerian tincture in a good herbal shop. I have to say that the remedy worked immediately. The pain in my right leg has temporarily disappeared. Now I just have to wait and see how it continues in the next few days. I also ordered a heatable knee warmer. If my knee hurts at night, heat from a hot water bottle is good. I put the hot water bottle under my knee and this relaxes the knee.
Dr Oz, I love your show and respect you as a physician, however, drinking juice is not a remedy for excruciating back pain for me.
l4 L5 groin pain, Had a epidural and my left legwas useless. The meds or pressure or such caused me to be crippled for 3 week,s I had to go to the hospital, It was the worst pain Ive ever felt, I litterally could not get verticle, I had to crawl on the ground like a snake, Even at the hospital, I had to crawl. Its evil pain
Same here every word for word going on third week as I type.....
Ughh, I feel your pain. YES the worst ever! No smoothie is gonna stop that lightning ⚡
Chiropractic care will help.
I really hope you're better now 🙏
I need exercises for sciatica that don't make me go on the floor. It is really hard trying to get up.
Try on the bed, I find walking is the best exercise, my work is physical so at work the pain goes, sitting down is bad for sciatica, if I watch TV I lie down, if u work in an office, try and stand
suprised they can lay down with leg straight.. I have a impingement on my S1 spine and severe pain on the right leg- cramping and spasm.
DR Berg on yt has excellent exercise videos for Scotia
Have the ingredient list, what are the measurements for each?
My Satiaca is almost entirely gone. It's taken about 3 months. No doctor, no drugs, no surgery. Just rest, then stretches, exercises that were not too painful. Almost back to 100 percent.
@@alexrossi4464 I had similar experience, people are way to quick to jump into surgery. At 59 years old I TRAIN 6 DAYS A WEEK and am barbell squating more than I did at 25 with no pain, just takes hard work.
@@65dalexander that's good. I'm. 49, and in good shape. I work out with weights at home, occasionally at the park/ using my own weight/ bar. I walk everywhere. And eat healthfully. First serious injury at 49 y.o. , but after 3 months I'm almost 100 percent back to normal. Now, I'll just be careful with some of those twisting with weights exercises were putting too much stress on my back.. That's what caused the injury in the first place. Keep up the good work. Greetings 🤠 👋 from Sacramento, California....

@@alexrossi4464 I had my worst Sciatica episode from turkish-get ups..not a fan anymore, but I still do a crossfit and BJJ as much as possible. There are more over-weight couch potatoes with back problems than there are people who train regularly but every time I injure myself the coach potatoes say "see i told you your too old for exercise", LOL!
I’ve had sciatica for over 4 weeks- stretching, heat and self care is not helping- it flares up every morning. I have to go to urgent care and wonder if they’ll even help me.
Yup I'm going through this now smh I feel helpless at times
Finally got an mri after trying everything with no avail. Going on month 8 and lost my quality of life. 😢
Lyrica changed my life, helps me alot
I am experiencing sciatica right now and will be starting these exercises right away
How do you feel now ?😩
How is chia a medicine for sciatica?
Omega-3. Anti-inflammatory. Not more than 50g/day max. If you have hypertension or diabetes, consult your physician before taking any. Also you might be allergic to the chia seeds.
ALA - alpha lineic acid. Google it. If you buy it in a pill form, make sure it's R - ALA.
Massages helped me the most. Find a specialist who can work with sciatica pain. My masseuse would release my muscle from my bone & seperate the nerves
Kegel Exercises are must..yes it takes long time to recover..but nerves, muscles need rest , good nourishment , pain killer too.
Stretching and CBD helps me deal with Sciatica flare ups. Also sitting on a foam roller and rolling back and forth over the Piriformis muscle which is under the buttocks helps too.
Acupuncture works wonders for sciatica
Gabapentin and stretching worked for me.
Gabapentin makes your brain stop growing look into it. That’s a nasty drug.
I take that also but a very low dose to2 3 times a day it does take the edge off the pain. I have spinal stenosis.
Isn't fructose an Inflamatory?
I can no longer walk and using a wheelchair to get around. Sitting is also excruciating. .
U mean you’re paralyzed because of sciatica?
Get yourself in to consult with a physical therapist. You'll get some specific exercises and stretches that will help you get better again, and out of that wheelchair.
I had sciatic nerve pain really bad for 4 months could not walk at all. Then it got a little better now I have it for a few months again in both legs its a pain in the butt.
I’ve been suffering from sciatica for over a year now. I have tried it all even spinal decompression. Everything helps for a little bit but not even a month after the pain starts coming back. I even changed my diet and nothing has worked so far.
I wonder if your shoes might be causing you to walk unbalanced & triggering these issues to your back side. Maybe a visit to podiatry might help you figure this out so you won't have to live with the constant pain.
Can we massage olive oil on spine once jn a week to prevent sciatica pain
Yeah I had a no pill solution alright…..it’s called surgery, it’s the only thing that got me out of over two months total pain--NO RELIEF! …….This came on like a light switch being turned on--I pray it doesn’t happen to you!
Worst pain I ever experienced for sure. At times I couldnt stand for weeks.
How do you give a recipe but not the measurements. I made the smoothie anyway and suffered the worst diarrhea ever.
I bet u used coconut milk you found in the grocery store. Don’t, just make your own
But did it work
@515dmb, I found this recipe. It doesn't include the banana but I'm going to try this and see. Wishing you pain free movement!
Healthy Pina Colada Chia Parfait
A gluten free, dairy free, vegan and paleo chia parfait with no sugar added.
Rich in healthy protein, healthy fats, vitamins and electrolytes!
Ingredients :
1/4 cup chia seeds
1 1/2 cups coconut milk (or other plant-milk)
about 1 cup chopped fresh ripe pineapple
a handful of coconut flakes
Directions :
Mix the chia seeds with coconut milk in a mason jar or bowl and set aside the fridge overnight or 6-8 hours minimum. (After about 1/2 hour, come back and mix the chia in the coconut milk again so they don’t stick near the bottom). It’s best to keep mixing them every couple of hours so that the seeds don’t stick and settle near the bottom.)
Blend the pineapple in a blender or in a separate bowl with an immersion blender and top your chia pudding with the pineapple puree.
Sprinkle coconut flakes on top and enjoy!
Please what is the treatment for nominees in my feet and fingers I have sciatica pain in my back and legs down?
Target the bloating first before stretching
I’ve been prescribed an antinflammatory twice a day It’s called Nabumatone and it’s for hip/leg pain that the doctor couldn’t figure out until he did MRI and said I have arthritis. Would it be safe to take the pineapple/chia seeds regiment plus my antinflammatory twice a day
Same problem. Hip/leg pain - osteoarthritis. Inflammation. Everyone has a remedy. I’m tired .
I won't be getting in the floor because I can't get up, but I will use the other things. I'm 73 and have Fibro and Paraostearthritis. I lose more mobility with the passing of time.😐
I wish the doctors would check me the way you just described. It really upsets me. That they don't..
Pineapple is going for pain. But I think that I'm allergic.. I use chia seeds when I can.. what do chianti seeds to for pain? Besides possibly helping you to move your bowels??
Thought that ginger was helping but not really.

I would rather walk & exercise rather than have surgery or take pain medicine. Because I can't tolerate medication the dangers side effects. Are not good for your body.
Great video, thank you. Please could you let me know if someone has had sciatica for years because the sciatic nerve at some point has to be where it passes though a tight area of bone that surrounds it, if this person starts taking high levels of vitamin D will the bone around the sciatic nerve that is already causing the sciaticic pain increase in size causing even more pain because the space the nerve has to be in has now has gotton smaller?
what is aigh level of vit D? 😮
What happens if you have diverticulitis chia seeds ar bad right
I'm getting relief from over 50 years of sciatic leg pain by taking 320 mg per day of benfotiamine.
How long did it take to work?
@@jazzycattruthkitten4101 I started noticing a decrease in pain within days. Now about nine months later I've reduced the dose to 160 mg/day and still getting relief.
This is excellent news, Thank you Dr. Oz.
Doctor Dr. Oz, do you have any cure for cervical dystonia? Is there anything out there besides Botox or brain surgery that can help people with cervical dystonia I miss your show and I would love to know what you think about that.
I barely can walk. I'm in pain sitting standing laying down 😢
I have the same problem. It is so depressing not being able to do the things I used to do because of the pain. I have done physical therapy a few different times but doesn't seem to help.
How much of what you need of all the ingredients? I'm aware of some of the amounts but the rest I don't know
Mckenzie
Yes, sugar filled smoothies are the ticket, lol
Dose this also help with tilled pelvis ??😔
Is the breakfast drink too high in sugar for diabetes?

Informative video
I literally thought I had shingles my lower back both butt cheeks burning and pain couldn't stand to have anything touch my skin.
can't generalize exercises like this. Sciatica happens due to various reasons. One of them is anterior shifting of Lumbar vertebra. Here, the backward bending ( like Cobra posture) is totally contraindicated. Please see these videos with a pinch ( not grain) of salt. Go to a physical Therapist for exercises. As far as the drink is concerned, no comments. AS LONG AS WHATEVER YOU INTAKE IS EDIBLE, THERE IS NO HARM TRYING
Thank you for sharing ❤️
Do you get relief right away ? Or do you have to keep drinking?
Drinking alot of waterer wont it

I brought sneakers from new balance. Supportive sneakers and a custom-made insole. My sciatica, heel spore, and cyst went away.
Which sneakers did you buy?
@orebonegosiame new balance. For men cause I have big feet. I asked for the one with the most support, plus I wear custom made soles.
Get on a treadmill, set it for 10% incline, walk backwards at 2mph for 1 mile to start. Working your way up to 3mi. Take long backwards strides, after 1 week you will thank that you read this. God Bless!

I am 26years and I am a nurse.I have sciatica pain since 3months and MRI spine shows spondiolysthesis, spondilysis and L5 S1 protrusion….my dr advised medications, avoid strenuous activity, back care and physio(exercise) since 2 months. But sciatica pain was came to another leg also….what can I do….let me know how to recover from this
People who have to do physical activity as part of their job can’t get relief 😢 I remember wanting to cry because my job requires me to squat all the time to organize things and pick stuff off the floor and put some things away that are low. I was in pain for a month at work.
Who is going to make it when you can’t stand? I know I just got over it. I would have to wait until it was over. Maybe it could be pre-made and frozen.
Shame Dr Oz isn't replying to questions asked!
Hi all parts are healthy
Iv done all this no luck😢
