Fog was cool, but oh man, in the Devil's roar it is something else. The islands are the perfect height where you can see them from the crow's nest but not from deck, so when a volcano erupts and you yeet it out of there, you're sailing away from nothing, to nothing, with volcanic rocks pelting through the mist, and when it's stopped, you slowly pull up onto the shores with boiling waters and a eerily quiet desolate land with this playing in the background Now that's some mother fuckin atmosphere right there boys
Then a volcano rock the size of a meteor comes outa nowhere and blasts your ship to pieces, mind you aren’t on the ship, you are exploring the island, and due to the fog, you had no idea what is happening to your ship. You decide to return only yo find your ship. Gone. You didn’t hear anything. How could this be possible? And then you hear a distance sound of wind, as you look up and see a Boulder flying for your head. Everything goes black and you awake in the sea of the damned. Once again stranded
Anyone that plays solo sometimes like me will know how weird it feels to be in the fog by yourself. You aren’t really scared but you are alone, and always ready for something to happen. You cant see past the next wave, it leads to the void.
exactly, except that I was scared because I am afraid of vast emptiness so the fog is one of the things I wish I could avoid in the game. I literally could not find the island I was looking for and I was so stressed
@@Yoon-mg9mxjust keep an eye on your map, same when your stuck in a storm, your boat will turn itself from the waves and wind so you gotta make sure your boat marker on the map is still going toward your desired island, never should you be looking for an island based on shape or size. map tells all.
It’s happened to me in the latest session (but also many more times). Amazing. An experience every time it happens. It’s like you’re facing a mistery you can’t avoid. Something of powerful and unknown. Pirates, ships, gold… nothing exists in the fog. No more. The fog eats everything. Also the time. Goosebumps. One of the best experience of the game, played alone expecially.
This fog saved me from being caught by a brig while i had fort, flameheart, and ashen winds loot on me. It felt like a blanket of stealth, and it was timed perfectly
I got saved by a kraken while trying to get away from a galleon in a rowboat. I was doing a tall tale and didn't want to lose the key which was worthless if stolen anyway.
Am I the only one who actually likes the fog and especially this music playing? It’s very calming knowing you can’t see and can’t be seen in the fog. No other players coming towards you, no skeleton ships around, no storm slowing sucking you in, and no giant skull clouds staring at you at all times. It’s the only time in the game where you feel like you aren’t being watched.
I Dont Feel Like Im Being Watched. The Only Thing I Like About Fog Is The Music. It Really Frustrates Me When I’m Doing A Quest And I Get Lost In A Fog Bank
I'd love to sneak into a boat in the fog and just be a trickster. Move loot to weird spots. Drop the anchor. Turn lights on and off. Give them the healthy reminder that danger is waiting.
We did that on a brig at a FOF. They didn’t have mics so we started secretly killing their crew members until they got creeped out. Shit it was cool but also a bit creepy lol
Imagine hearing the sound of your ship creaking while sailing through the fog, and the sensation of crashing into anything or anyone at random. They should a shanty that you could play while sailing through fog.
I'm always so watchful and concentrated when I'm in the fog, I always feel like the Shrouded Ghost has more chance to appear in these conditions, you know, because he's _shrouded_ you see
Dude I remember when this update first came out and I was new to the game, me and my friend were sailing like normal when I got my first Kraken encounter. I hid in the bottom of the ship cause I was still afraid of the oceans at that time and I remember my friend telling me that the Kraken will suck you up off the boat. My friend had to try and fight the Kraken alone because I refused to come out of the bottom out and help. Eventually the Kraken overpowered him and were both stuck down there low on wood just trying to stay alive. Right when we were about to die suddenly everything went quiet and this started playing. When we came out there was fog everywhere and it was the brightest point in the day making everything super bright. It was like our ship was transported to this white void. It was so strange for both of us, everything to change so quickly. From Kraken roars and black waters, fearing we would die. To complete silence and white void.
Little story tryna be cinematic fr I was traveling up to Kraken’s Fall for an Ashen Winds event, a sloop already stationed at the island, anchored to my advantage. I sailed up and sunk their ship before they could get to me. When they did, it was a solo slooper like myself, and I easily sent them to join their ship. I then proceeded to finish the Ashen Winds event, gathering the loot up and onto my sloop. By then a thick field of fog had rolled in from the Devil’s Roar and covered Kraken’s Fall and the surrounding area, and I was worried that the sloop would return. And of course, they did. I saw a mast in the fog just as I was sailing away from the island, and I’d say it was the most eerie sight I’ve ever seen in my days playing Sea of Thieves. And I don’t even know for sure if it was the same sloop or a sloop at all. I guess I’ll never know… (Sorry for such a long story I was cooking)
The first time I heard this I was in the Devils Roar. I was a singular person in a tiny rowboat hearing explosions in the distance, knowing at any moment I could have a massive rock fly out of the middle of nowhere and kill me. Everything was really silent apart from those things. I had no clue how close I was to the edge of the map and I decided to deem myself "stuck" because I wasn't willing to take a dip into the murky water, where I couldn't see further than 5 meters down from the surface just to catch a mermaid...
I always use a galleon... And i always sail very very slow trough the fog.. this one time i met another galleon doing almost exactly the same. they appeared out of thin air and drifted slowly by us, this big black ominous thing, close enough that we could have jumped aboard. But nobody moved a muscle.. we looked at them, they looked at us, and they vanished behind us just as quickly as they appeared... Not a word was uttered... Just stares.. that was the most tense moment in any game that i have ever experienced in my life
won't forget the time I was just starting this game, I was alone in the fog and knew a skeleton galleon was nearby, I was sitting in the crow's nest, and as this song faded in I saw the masts slowly fade in through the fog and recede from view after a few seconds. Wow this song brings back fun memories. I once joined an open crew while Shrouded Spoils was on. The guy I joined went full on ghost ship to scare people. He was using the Wailing Barnacle ship stuff and we only sailed in the fog and hunted down anyone else in it.

It's super foggy in my part of the country today. Just sitting in the semi-darkness staring out my window into the mist with this ambience playing feels kind of surreal
it would be cool if they reworked the fog by increasing random shipwrecks and debris in the water, making the water in the fog have no waves, and adding hallucinations like ghostly buoys or wails off in the distance.
Once when I was playing alone I did not even now there was fog so I entered the fog alone at night and I heard this creepy music I was freezes on how scared I was and to make it worse I was home alone late at night
So there I was, caught in a fog bank. I couldn't tell what direction I was going, couldn't see the ocean in front or behind my ship...then the strings began, and the Kraken struck! I raced to the cannons preparing to dig in and repel the beast from below. I fought when I could, repaired when I should have, and shortly after, the beast slipped back into the depths, and I sailed out of the fog, on to brighter shores.

I love fog
Best and funniest way to loose enemies, because u cant even see 10foot
Oh boi
So I only recently got the game and somehow never came across the fog when watching people play, so I'm just casually solo sailing and suddenly I can only see a few feet Infront of me and have to hope I don't run into any rocks because I don't have time to react...
Do the shroud music next
We Shall Sail Togethhmmmmmm.....
When the horn plays tho
