    MY working rule is to change out EVERY rubber part under the hood every 10 years.
    Hoses, belts, and anything else like that is going to be a mess in a decade, so every 10 years, its best to replace it all.

    It's in great shape all things considered and the 440 isn't hard to work on providing it doesn't have headers you want to use a zinc additive in the oil or just use shell Rotella it's a flat tappet engine so zinc is your friend.

    • @torquealleygarage
      @torquealleygarage  Рік тому

      Surprisingly easy to work on besides the starter!

    • @violentshemp7776
      @violentshemp7776 Рік тому

      'tappet' somehow became a generic term for a lifter. it isn't a lifter. a tappet sits between a cam and the valve in a overhead cam motor.

    Stunning car. They don't make them like that anymore, built to last and fun to drive. The old 440s were almost impossible to "blow up" a long with the 3speed automatic tranny. My parents had a 1972 Chrysler Town&Country New Yorker Station Wagon. We ran it till we wore it completely out. We made plenty of fast trips all across the country pulling a U-Haul trailer. In the mid to late 70's we stopped pulling trailers with it and used it as our daily driver until the late 1980's. Happy to see these cars being restored again.

It got really hard to hear you at times when you were doing the wide shots. That is a beautiful car, and it is fantastic condition. My grandparents had an Imperial for a while. I think it was a '68. Damn you really fired the parts cannon off on that one. I have got many cars going from sitting and 99.9 % of the time it don't need anything to run except to file the crap off the points and to hook up a tank with clean fuel and they will run. I bet you that car would of ran without replacing anything at all anyway I guess you gave it a tune up before you got it going but by the looks of that one plug you showed us it looks like it was running good when it was parked.

    It's not everyday that you find a FULL FRAME, REAR WHEEL DRIVE, 440 POWERED IMPERIAL IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION. Without seeing it in person, idk? Any luck on the calliper situation maybe a rebuild kit or parts number reference to see if any nos parts are hiding anywhere? Look online & everywhere? Maybe junkyards?

      @torquealleygarage  Рік тому

      I looked high and low that year for a drivers side front caliper, I wasn’t able to find anything in way of rebuild or replacement anywhere. Fortunately, I was able to sell it to a gentleman who planned on restoring it and he said he knew where he had a set of calipers that would be used.
