  • So after almost two months and much grass cut now, how have I got on with Aspen fuel? Do I rate this fuel? Plus, has my lawnmower and chainsaw worked any better using this Aspen fuel? Watch the video to see how I now feel about this Aspen Fuel! I have been busy building a small free summer house out of recycled timber hence the lack of videos. So my apologies for this.

Aspen and other similar alkylate fuels have worked well in my small engines. In Finland, we have many different brands on sale and many supermarkets also sell them. And there are about 20 gas stations in Finland where you can buy alkylate fuel from the pump.

I really rate this it's given my old mower a new lease of life in the year I have now used very interesting to read about how available it is in Finland! Many thanks, Kev.

I've just tried Aspen and found both my blower and mower run very well on it.

Thanks, I am still using Aspen in my old rear roller Hayter mower with the Briggs engine which is really clapped out after so many years of service! But this fuel works so well and I have found it to be really good the mower starts very easy and runs well never misses a beat and that is another season I have used Aspen with good results. And even left fuel in the mower over last winter and started second pull this spring! Thanks for your comment Kev.

Do you think I could mix two stroke oil with Aspen 4 instead of buying Aspen 2 which is premixed for two stroke machines ? I use a very good 2 stroke oil, OleoMac Prosint 2 which I find very good and I prefer to mix my fuel to 40:1, a small bit richer in oil just to be sure of good lubrication and protection. I'd rather not trust the mix ratio that is in Aspen 2 but I would try out Aspen 4 if I could mix my OleoMac Procint 2 with it, what do you think ? By the way, just to clarify I'm using this in two stroke machines.

yes you can mix/add your own oil.The aspen 4 is exactly the same as aspen 2 except the 2 has synthetic oil at 50/1. hope that helps

I talked to someone who works for Aspen fuels here in France. Got the same question, Aspen 4 with 2 stroke oil is it possible ? The answer is yes, but the mix ist only stable for 3 years because it IS open not sealed. I don't like the Aspen 2, it smells horrible and i can't stand that.

I did try it out mixing Aspen 4 with my 2-stroke OleoMac oil but my 2-stroke machines were gutless on it, they lacked power so I went back to regular Petrol. I tried the Aspen 4 in my lawnmower and it worked fine but it is expensive and I'd only use it in a lawnmower I don't use often as Aspen will not deteriorate if the machine is sitting around. I'm using a mulcher at present and my Orec with the Honda engine isn't being used but its filled with Aspen so I'm not worried about it. Thanks for the info, appreciated.
