Good luck with those hawks billet hinges....my passenger side one snapped about 12 months after i installed it....and it did paint damage at the top and down at the spoiler....i was freakin pissed. I would suggest finding an oer set of steel ones and replace as soon as possible
is that Thunderhead289? I think that butile tape might be a good way to give the hinges some degree of flexibility to avoid the hatch glass shattering.
Awesome video Stan! Seems like an easier & more controlled method of getting it done by removing the rear hatch entirely like you did. One thing though, I reckon an adjustment of the hatch pulldown or latch would be in order after doing this? Been postponing this job for years because I hate glass-work more than anything. All these threads on TGO about hatch breakage makes it nerve-wrecking! I reckon a misaligned hatch makes it more prone to breaking too. *Sigh* There's no way out of this, I guess.😂
Thank you! 🙏 yeah, you sounded like me before I did it. Just get a friend to watch over everything and I bet it will go smoothly! Remember, less is more in this case lol 😆
You made a good point if nothing else, for peace of mind. I have the luxury of a pole barn for storage, and I always leave the rear hatch AND the hood up to take the load of the lifts and the hatch assembly / hinges, especially for the long winter storage . Great stuff, I will have to add those Hawks "Billet Hinges" to my summer 25 plans.
Keep doing what you’re doing i just found your channel and I’m using it to swap my 1989 trans am gta. Make whatever video you want, I’ll watch it!
That sounds like a great project! Good luck and thanks for watching!!!
I really need to replace mine. Might be a good winter time upgrade.
Good to see you back to making some videos.
Stan, I hope you’re safe in the storm.
I use your channel all the time to help with my F-Body build thanks man👍
No problem! Thanks for watching!

Wow, I haven’t heard anyone’s do that! Hopefully that set was an anomaly. Thanks for watching 😎

New review and how to video! Looks like it's time to upgrade.
Thanks for watching, Wes!
Where did you get your wheels from? I'm restoring my 85 Z/28 and what size are they?

That doesn't do anything since the struts are constant pressure
Great video on how it's done. I went with the Hawk's hinges and they don't disappoint. Very well designed! I feel like they are a luxury upgrade. 😁
Thanks for watching as always! Yeah, I was very impressed with the quality, now I need to do some good hinges next lol
@@martinmoore9873 definitely! Thanks for watching!
