He made the right decision going to arkansas, but what bothers me is at no point in this interview did he say at any point loyalty is important to the school, to yourself, instead jokes about giving away uk items. At some point along the way money wasn't a issue, pride in school and HIS team, should've at least been part of the conversation. Is his major flaw, besides that aspect hes a great human being.

mr calipari, you say you help these players families, i must laugh, the caliber player you consistently bring in... in no way need YOUR help, your reputation of moving these players through that revolving door is what these guys are looking for, however, they are also looking for exposure which for the past 5 -6 years has dwindled to early exits -not only from the ncaa tourny - (1st round last 2 years and 2nd round 3 years before that and one 1st round NIT ) but the sec tourny as well.
it actually started to become obvious to me these past 5 years (minus the covid year) that any coach out there with any semblance of coaching prowess and within 10 points the last 5 minutes of any game - ate your lunch and handed you back the bag. yes, you were out coached, not only during the sec schedule but every coach during the out of conference schedule who wasn't a division 2 gimme game that all coaches/teams are supposed to win and pad their W column just a little, even those games were much closer than should have been, sometimes actual nail biters.
i for one gasped with a capital HUH and WTF when your rhetoric switched from "i'm here to hang banners" to "i'm here for the kids" as if hanging banners was not what you were being paid $7 million a year for. if the school, students and fans wanted you to be there for the kids then a teachers salary would actually suffice. when you came to kentucky you told the BIG BLUE NATION you expected to retire there, that time came and went about 2 - 3 years ago or maybe even as far back as when you got your hip replaced.
on a closing note i would like to especially thank you for going to arkansas. KFC over tyson 7 days a week ~ kyscot

    Dear Hog Fans,
My name is Random Kentucky Fan. I wanted to let you know that you're getting a raw deal with Coach Calipari. He's a no-good wannabe gangster charlatan who only cares about the NBA draft.
Sure, he won 32 NCAA tournament games, went to 7 Elite Eights, and 4 Final Fours in 15 seasons. And yes, I'll concede that he also won 6 SEC tournament championships, along with six regular-season championships. But he only won ONE national championship, and for that sole reason, Cal will forever be an underachiever.
All of your chicken money will be wasted, and you will be stuck with that shyster for at least 5 years. Unless, of course, winning 27 games per season is "enough" for the little piggy fan base. If that is the case, then I suppose you deserve each other.
No, we are not bitter or jealous about your acquisition of Coach Cal. Mark Pope is our savior and will lead us to the promised land shortly.

How many coaches have you EVER heard of meeting with a rival school AD to talk about coaching replacements??? The situation was shady and he was looking for a way out. You don’t take a face to face meeting with a rival AD unless you know what’s he going to ask. If anyone thinks differently, I don’t know what to tell ya. It’s obvious the last week of his UK tenure was fake (tv interview) and he was looking for a way out. He’s even stated that he should have left to UCLA in 2019. Again, I’m grateful for what he did here but it’s OBVIOUS he was looking for a way out. You don’t accept a face to face meeting with a rival AD if you are not looking to leave. Barnhart muked up royalty by giving him a lifetime contract (he should be fired for that) and $35 million owed, forced to bring him back. Fans were pissed and NIL contributions from fans not going well at all. Cal, who is bigger than the program, met with Arkansas, which voided his contract (Barnhart rejoices) and gave UK an out. It took a few days for Cal to speak to his attorneys to realize he had voided his contract, and bye bye to that $35 million and a lifetime of $1 million a year for consulting UK. Bingo, bango, bongo. @@christopherp7392 a top 5 portal class? wow that explains first round exits in both sec and ncaa tourny's, and btw, the kraft center is probably the nicest basketball facility in the sec as well as wildcat lodge next door where the players live, a buffet spread for meals. as for pope winning a national title, the ring on his finger say's kentucky on it, i would say he's worth a try, i will be looking forward to your hogs coming to fayette county ky.
lets be honest, cal has had the players and under performed 5 years straight minus an unfinished covid 2020. i am personally very happy arkansas now have cals services to endure. as for nil contributions as you put it, who do you think built the kraft center, and yes his millions in nil donations rival anything the chicken man puts out there, nice try. lol, one year cal took a #2 recruiting class and was knocked out of the first round of the NIT for gods sake, enjoy. ~ kyscot

Complains about a 24 year old that killed them in the tourney when his leading scorer was 23.

Don't know what Arkansas was thinking but thanks for taking Calipari. Hes a Hof recruiter but a horrific coach. Good luck with that.

Is the real reason why he left kentucky is because they would not hire his son to be on his staff And so then about three years He will leave it to his son And then he'll go do podcasting as he just said in the beginning of this interview
