    I started out with a Thorens TD125B and an SME3009, changed to the Rabco SL-8e, but the Thorens was a poor fit so I sold it and the SME and bought a Technics SL-110. Flipped the arm board over and mounted the SL-8e, which unlike the Thorens, was able to allow the dust cover to fit over the SL-8e structure. Then I brought out the cue wires to a separate switch on the mounting board so I didn't have to reach over to the arm's lift lever. Still works fine today, from 1974. The deck of the SL-110 looks bigger than your Sl-120.

    A friend worked at a large electronic chain and the Technics reps from Japan called it Technics, pronounced tek-nicks.

    I had one of those 80s Technics that was a sort of close-and-play version that had liner tracking. Hated it. Great music selection there BTW.

      I remember the "Close and Play" tables a few Mfg's were making them.. Just as CD's were coming into fashion.

    Guessing that's a non-powered arm? From what I'd been able to find, manual linear arms seemed to be rare. Must have been a job getting it aligned etc when installing.

    • @ddd2184
      @ddd2184  5 місяців тому +1

      The arm is powered by a C Battery. It has a Servo motor to move the arm assembly

      @@ddd2184 Oh cool. Interesting build. Think you might putting one of those on an SL-10? Good candidate for it.

    I see the cutting pliers supporting one of the legs - is your work bench out of level, or the turntable? Did that model need to be super level for proper operation?

    • @ddd2184
      @ddd2184  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes my work bench is not level.. so I had to improvise.. It has to be pretty close to being level but it will track even if its off

    I'm not familair with the track but to my ears that's skipping all over the place (and before you say, it's not my connection. Thats just fine). Anyone?

    • @Todd.T
      @Todd.T 5 місяців тому +1

      It's the song. It's odd cadence makes it sound like it's skipping, but obviously it isn't because Phil's words are not.

      Check the song: Genesis, Down and out. It has an unconventional rhythm pattern, hence you think it is skipping :)
