      I mean that's what over 90% of actors do, remember most actors are indie and stage actors who rarely get paid fair wage, most do it because it's a passion, only a very few percent are actually Hollywood stars.

    Ed Norton plays some of my fav characters. I loved him in Grand Budapest. You can really tell everyone who does these movies is enjoying every second.

      ​@@thedelster9525So actors have to pay to their agents and unions respectfully, so alot of their money goes to them oh and there's also their public relations team, assistants etc. if they have them. And of course there's house and car payments

      I don't buy it. I believe he got $4200 or whatever out of the budget. The movie eventually made a profit over $100 million. Guarantee he got at least low six figures in residuals.

      You have to pay hundreds of people from the people who build the set to the costume designers to production assistants, the list goes on and on.

    Wes anderson movies dont generally do well on release. Fantastic mr fox is the exception to the rule and even that had a resurgence during covidb

      I'm not really a fan. I've seen films of his which I quite enjoyed (Moonrise, French Dispatch) but overall he doesn't do it for me. I think there's a niche crowd that he appeals to. Partly New York intelligentsia and partly a particular subset of male cinephiles. Obviously he's a good film-maker, but his stuff is generally not for me.
      You know, I don't even know why I wrote this. Because you really like him, and that's great. And I wouldn't try to dissuade you of your enjoyment of his films.

      He’s not in charge of paying actors, he’s employed by a studio

      @@ewansquire5010 no, he's not. He's a named lead producer on all of his movies, which means he's absolutely involved in production costs, budgeting etc. He signs his films with distribution companies once the films are complete.

    After all this time Wes’s films are reminding me of Kevin Smith’s in that most all the characters all are talking with the same unrealistic voice like they are one brain. This explains that.

He’s been in a ton of great movies and the harshest criticism you can give is he was kicked off one of his worst movies for wanting to change the script? Sounds like all data would suggest he’s an enormous asset to have on set. Maybe he handles it the wrong way but the dude knows something about scripts

    Every Wes Anderson movie is like hey look at this symmetrical shot, monotone acting. Oh everything was fine all along the end. The color balancing always bothers me so does the predictability of everything. Its pretentious. Art for the attempt of art sake, which is fine to do alone for yourself.

    Went into Astroid City the other day cause my gf suggested it. Not knowing it was a Wes Anderson film. After the first few minutes the film style look familiar then it dawned on me so I turn to her "babe.. who directed this film " she says "i dunno, Wes something. Why?"
    Needless to say she soon found out why I was disappointed to hear it was one of his films..

      Are you intentionally misunderstanding what he's saying, as well as the point of the strikes?
      It's not that he doesn't know the line, it's that Wes says it in the way he wants it delivered and Edward Norton mimics that. I'm sure Wes Anderson would not agree with this description and say that Edward Norton is being too modest and brings much more than that to the role.
      Actors like Edward Norton (and other big actors) are not on strike because they want more money (or expect to get paid more at the end of the strike). They are doing it in solidarity with the vast majority of the members of their union, who don't make enough to live on just from the salaries they get alone.
