Imagine being the director that people want to work with so badly they're happily losing money to do it.
I mean that's what over 90% of actors do, remember most actors are indie and stage actors who rarely get paid fair wage, most do it because it's a passion, only a very few percent are actually Hollywood stars.
@@EliasWolf77Right, but Edward Norton has a choice.
Imagine being the director so good that Ed Norton just does as he's told.
@@IceWolfLoki The main thing about being an actor is to do what the director says
Ed Norton plays some of my fav characters. I loved him in Grand Budapest. You can really tell everyone who does these movies is enjoying every second.
a good actor had the features to be a great actor
The low budget quality films garner the attention of the bigger films that pay big.
When it pays where does the money go?
@@thedelster9525So actors have to pay to their agents and unions respectfully, so alot of their money goes to them oh and there's also their public relations team, assistants etc. if they have them. And of course there's house and car payments
@thedelster9525 a bank account probably, tf?
I don't buy it. I believe he got $4200 or whatever out of the budget. The movie eventually made a profit over $100 million. Guarantee he got at least low six figures in residuals.
@@bsb1975 I was obviously talking, _in general,_ and not specifically this case.
he has such a cool voice
I would sell my kidney just get to an audition for a Wes Anderson movie.
I'd just give mine up
You guys should just donate your kidneys then. At least it wont be for a pretentious reason.
@@idiotidiot5821
I pity your kids...
How much for that kidney? Serious question
Its an honour being in Wes Anderson movie. That's why big actors do it.
Considering just how controlling he is on his own projects it goes to show how much faith he has in Anderson.
Artsy films don’t pay dick. It’s the Marvel movies and big box office shit. They do these because they want to.
I have seen nearly every actor say they don't care about marvel and are there only because of money
Wes Anderson films can pay though. I bet Wes Anderson doesn't make peanuts. Grand Budapest Hotel has a budget of $25 million and made $175 million
How can wes’ films be over budget and not be able to afford to pay actors? He uses like 1 camera angle, and like minimal special effects??
The sets bro. They gorgeous and expensive af
@@arturovazquez7653not really. Grand Budapest had a budget of 25 mil and made 175 mil. Wes Anderson is a dick
I bet Owen Wilson works for free, or at least very cheap. He and Wes Anderson were college roommates, after all.
But the movie made 68 million dollars, so I guess someone got paid.
Yeah the studio/investors
That movie had a $16 million budget. They should have been paid more than that.
I don’t think you understand what a typical movie budget is. 16 million is very low for a Hollywood movie
You have to pay hundreds of people from the people who build the set to the costume designers to production assistants, the list goes on and on.
@@fareshasan1038 And yet, perfectly good films are made on $5 million budgets. Watch Terrifier 2, which had a $250,000 budget and looks as perfect as it does and tell me why Wes Anderson did less with an extra $15,750,000.
Moonrise Kingdom starring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Bob Balaban
Loved this film. It was so much fun
Norton is great to listen to nowadays now that he doesn’t have that ego he used to, listening to him on Rogan was brilliant
I've heard a lot of stuff about him being a jerk. Is he nicer nowadays?
Too good for the Hulk 👍
What is the movie?
What’s everyone’s favorite Wes Anderson film? Mine is Royal Tenenbaums
Good insights great site
Chad move. Love it
W
His name isn’t Chad
“I’m just a meat-puppet for Wes Anderson”
…sus lol
Beautiful woman
Id be lucky to make 4200.
We're talking about approximately three months of work. 4k isn't that much for three months of work.
It's essentially less than minimum wage when you factor in how much time was commited.
Edward Norton is the DDL of my generation. Legendary.
Wes anderson movies dont generally do well on release. Fantastic mr fox is the exception to the rule and even that had a resurgence during covidb
I’ve told people before that Wes Anderson is the best director ever and they’re like “who’s that?” 🤦♂️
I'm not really a fan. I've seen films of his which I quite enjoyed (Moonrise, French Dispatch) but overall he doesn't do it for me. I think there's a niche crowd that he appeals to. Partly New York intelligentsia and partly a particular subset of male cinephiles. Obviously he's a good film-maker, but his stuff is generally not for me.
You know, I don't even know why I wrote this. Because you really like him, and that's great. And I wouldn't try to dissuade you of your enjoyment of his films.
So this is how he gets the casts that he does. He just doesn't pay people properly
He’s not in charge of paying actors, he’s employed by a studio
@@ewansquire5010 no, he's not. He's a named lead producer on all of his movies, which means he's absolutely involved in production costs, budgeting etc. He signs his films with distribution companies once the films are complete.
Additionally, Wes knew Owen Wilson in college, so I assume he's okay with not being paid very much.
Why do I have to ask what movie?
Moonrise Kingdom. Fantastic
He says the the title of the movie in this video
Holy cow he made 4200!!!!! And he's complaining???
After all this time Wes’s films are reminding me of Kevin Smith’s in that most all the characters all are talking with the same unrealistic voice like they are one brain. This explains that.
Yeah because it’s the writer’s dialogue and voice.
@@viperrecords3288 Yea, but that isn't always so noticeable for me except for those two, which is a choice, sure. I need to watch Astroid City again because the mono repetitive tone to everyone put me to sleep in the theater.
While 90% of marvel actors don't know anything about their film and mock it
Domt be fooled by norton, he is notoriously horrible on set
How do you know?
He's been known to want to modify the script a ton. One of the reasons he got dropped as the Hulk
@@MrTuasell he was probably right about the Hulk script. He’s been in a ton of great movies and the harshest criticism you can give is he was kicked off one of his worst movies for wanting to change the script? Sounds like all data would suggest he’s an enormous asset to have on set. Maybe he handles it the wrong way but the dude knows something about scripts
@@benjaminmann8028 I don't necessarily disagree, but imagine going forward and knowing he would want to change all of the Avengers movies. I can see why they would replace him.
@MrTuas that's right. Don't back down. Double down. Don't back down. Double down.
Every Wes Anderson movie is like hey look at this symmetrical shot, monotone acting. Oh everything was fine all along the end. The color balancing always bothers me so does the predictability of everything. Its pretentious. Art for the attempt of art sake, which is fine to do alone for yourself.
I wouldn’t mind earning $4 grand for having my lines read out to me also.🙄
U understand how long the hours are u not making a profit at all
Damm bro let’s see your acting chops
And I wouldn’t mind earning $100 million for having people watch me play basketball
@@banthehippies2335
If one’s English is up to scratch along with your pronunciation.
$4k isn’t enough to live in a major city for a month…it ain’t that much.
Went into Astroid City the other day cause my gf suggested it. Not knowing it was a Wes Anderson film. After the first few minutes the film style look familiar then it dawned on me so I turn to her "babe.. who directed this film " she says "i dunno, Wes something. Why?"
Needless to say she soon found out why I was disappointed to hear it was one of his films..
You'd only come out of his movies satisfied if you wear highwater skinny jeans, wearing a curly mustache, lens-less thick frame glasses, and a bowler hat.
Yes, I am implying only hipster douches like Wes Anderson movies.
They are overrated one-dimensional crap. 🤷♂️💯
Wes Andersons movies are horribly boring
Creepy an adult in a boy scouts uniform
It's pretty much a park ranger outfit
It’s a movie bruh
It's a park ranger's outfit, moron.
He’s the leader of a group of scouts, that’s how they usually dress up.
You’re looking old and tired Ed.
Moonrise Kingdom came out in 2012 and American history X in 1998 a long time ago. What planet are you from?

I was born January ‘70. My feet are firmly planted on this earth kid. I stand by my comment.
That's because people age
Edward Norton 1969
You 1970
Me 1960
All getting old in the face
He is just better looking than you
@@jakethehuman7
Don’t be smart. He’s my age.
Well Wes is probably the worst modern director still working at a high level so it makes sense
Well he doesn't even bother to remember his lines they have to be read to him so I think he was actually overpaid if anything 😂that's why this write/actor strike is a joke because they do a very small part but want all the money
Are you intentionally misunderstanding what he's saying, as well as the point of the strikes?
It's not that he doesn't know the line, it's that Wes says it in the way he wants it delivered and Edward Norton mimics that. I'm sure Wes Anderson would not agree with this description and say that Edward Norton is being too modest and brings much more than that to the role.
Actors like Edward Norton (and other big actors) are not on strike because they want more money (or expect to get paid more at the end of the strike). They are doing it in solidarity with the vast majority of the members of their union, who don't make enough to live on just from the salaries they get alone.
@@binkey3374 if they don't make enough money get another job like a regular person 🙄 what they do isn't special and that's why they don't have a leg to stand on. Hence why the public doesn't care one bit
@@moneymanifestation9505 Most actors do take on other jobs.
If you (as a representative of the public) don’t care, why are you posting about it? You seem to resent that actors get paid for what they do at all, for some reason and you definitely seem to care about it.
The movie is craparoo
As a man who's delivered many & varied dismissals--but never 'craparoo'--I'm comfortable disagreeing with you.
@@StankFernatra Have at it. turd of a movie
I enjoyed it. I really enjoy all of Wes' movies.
It's not for everyone, it's like a personality thing
Bait.
Wes Anderson racist nonsense
Nice bait. No one cares tho.
What?
Troll harder
Stop baiting, bro. You're wasting your time.
There is absolutely no way in hell Edward Norton was paid 4 grand to be in a movie. Full stop. Period.
