Title explanation first: Isan (written 遺産 in Kanji) means “legacy/heritage” in Japanese.
Most of you probably already know that I am a massive admirer and fan of the Far East, especially Japan with its isolated culture that gave birth to such a unique identity. With this song I tried my best at describing my admiration for this culture, I hope I succeeded.^^ The past months the topic Japan somehow has been on my mind all the time, I spent countless hours reading about its history and mythology, all the Youkai and Kami and folk tales, there is just so much material to read about Japan, it's amazing.^^
I hope all of you who read this have a wonderful day/night! =)

Japanese instruments are so great! I really love their unique sound. You did an amazing job using them.
Japanese culture is definitely among the most interesting. Their medieval organization was feudal, like Europe's, which was pretty original compared to other political institutions in Asia or around the world in general. In fact, they had all the prerequisites that were necessary for an industrial revolution, but it happened more lately, when the Japanese leaders decided to catch up with Europe. Thanks to the respect they have for their history, we can still enjoy what made them great for the last two milleniums, and at the same time using in our everyday life the technological improvements they developped.
    PS: Sushis are awesome.

    Usage rights - please read:
I’m posting the usage rights and important
information about my music right here in a comment on every new video so that
they’re easily accessible to everyone. =)
    USAGE:
    If your
project (any project at all, movie, photography, websites, live shows etc.) is
non-commercial, which means it doesn't earn you any money, then you can use my
music for free. Only given credits are necessary, that's the only condition.
Credits would be totally fine as a small text in the movie, website etc.
written "Music by Adrian von Ziegler". In live shows and other
projects where including a text would be difficult, an oral mention would
    suffice as well. =)
    On
UA-cam and twitch you can also use my music for free even if you monetize your
    videos by the way!
    ANY
school projects have automatic free permission to use my music, no license
    payment is required.
    If the
project is commercial, meaning it makes money in any way (except UA-cam and
twitch, see above), you would have to buy a license for the music you want to
use. The license payment would be small in almost all cases except for big
budget productions. It would be a one-time payment, so you can use the music
you bought forever in that project. It does not give you any rights over the
music however, so remixing the music, re-selling it etc. is not allowed.
    Giving
credits is also necessary in commercial projects.
Remixing, sampling and other forms of altering the original song into a new
piece of music is also generally not allowed unless the remix is 100%
non-commercial and labelled with the original title and author of the song
(me). Adding bird noises, nature sounds or similar things are allowed. Nightcore alterations are also allowed while non-commercial and
labelled with original title and author (Google "Nightcore" in case
    of confusion).
    So if
your project is non-commercial or a UA-cam project, just give credits and
there is nothing holding you back from using my songs. ANY song you want. =) If
it's commercial stuff just write me a personal message or an email at adrianvonziegler@gmx.ch
and inform me about the scale and details of the project and we'll make a deal.
    REQUESTED
    MUSIC:
    I
generally do not accept offers to make songs on request or to write music for
movies, games etc. One reason is that I can't handle it time-wise but even if I
had the necessary time I would still stay away from it because I - quite
honestly - don't really like to do it.^^ I basically make music to express
whatever topic moves me, randomly. I tried it a few times but I have the best
creativity and feel the most freedom and happiness when I do that completely
alone and without being “employed” by someone. I hope that’s understandable.^^
    Important:
    I do not
allow my music to be used in any project that has a clear political, racist or
discriminatory message. By that I mean anything that goes from direct
political, racist or discriminatory videos or underlining speeches with my
music, onto remixing my melodies into a song that has lyrics with clear
political, racist or discriminatory message and similar things that clearly
    promote these things.
I hope you're having an awesome day, and thanks a
lot for being interested in my music! =)

Could you do some Slavic music? Btw I really liked this

    • @AdrianvonZiegler
      @AdrianvonZiegler  8 років тому +41

+Raven Angel I want to do that for a long time already, yes. The issue is just that true Slavic music is very similar to Celtic, general Medieval and Nordic music. So yes, I could make it but I would have to somehow make it sound different from these other genres which is almost impossible. The other possibility is of course that I do it anyway and just ignore when half the people tell me "this sounds Celtic/Viking/whatever, not Slavic".^^

+Adrian von Ziegler Really? I think your Celtic music and general Irish and Scottish music in general along with your viking music would sound barely anything like music by Slavic bands like Percival, or Polish or Russian or south Slavic folk music. Anyway you do what comes and speaks to your heart dude.

    • @AdrianvonZiegler
      @AdrianvonZiegler  8 років тому +5

Jarrah Shmutter Never heard of them but keep in mind that every artist has his own music identity, so my music will not sound like theirs either way and WILL have my signature, which will make it similar to the other European folk genres that I already compose.

Hey, Adrian, long lurker of your stuff here. I love how you simply name things "Eastern", or "viking", there are no genres there's only inspiration and art. I don't know, maybe you've studied all of this music, but it feels like you just "know". I relate to this feeling, that's why I say it. I play a lot of folk 'cause it's just natural to us Scandinavians and Germanic people. However, sometimes some kind of Spanish hexmaster takes over me and I create the strangest songs. Sometimes from dreams, sometimes it just "clicks" and I can see a vision of sorts and compose to it. Anyway, rambling.
Here's what I wanted to ask: I am a big fan of the Old Norse. So, naturally, I like your Viking stuff the most. However, I'd like to ask if you'd ever think of working more with vocals and less instruments? Focus on very beefy choirs (but keep it simple and primitive) and accompany it with minimalistic percussion?
I see the dawn of life after Ragnarök, when Lif and Lifthrasir sing to the Gods, the only male and female mortal to survive. They sing for their dead kinsmen, honouring them and also calling to them for chant. I see them around fire, and this could be the beefy choir. Many parts of man is questionable, but two things are absolute certain, Life and the One Who Clings to Life. Your mere existence and hope is why we are able to defy even our own extinction. These are traits not even found in the Gods.
I wish I could work this software like you are able to, but I can't. :( Anyway, hope you read this!

Not really, the instruments are very unique to Japan. There are major differences between traditional (though this is far from it) Japanese and Chinese music.

I have ALWAYS been fascinated by Japan, ever since I was a little girl. I'm even learning Japanese now. (I'm in my forties, so it's a little more difficult than it might have been back then, lol!) The folklore is intriguing, the art and traditions are beautiful...and this music is distracting me from watching Inuyasha, haha!

Imagine...this music plays if Ieyasu Tokugawa, Nobunaga Oda, Shingen Takeda and Kenshin Uesugi declare a final war. Not to mention other Daimyo. Wouldn't that be so epic?

You're one of my favourite people on youtube :) You're not uppish even if you reached such great success and you're that talented :) What could I say? I just love your music. I heard it for the first time when I was in a highschool, about 2-3 years ago :) I remember, that when we had to write about our favourite musician at english lesson, I choosed you, just that, my first thought :D I'm playing piano for a month or two, you know? :D I love piano even if it's that short time of playing. In general my story with music started some time ago, with the guitar, but nevermind... I would love to be able like you- to create something, from my spirit, spread it to the World and have so many people, who will watch it, listen and who just are :D
And heey ! I'm from Poland too :D I didn't even know, that we have that many artists in here, good to hear it :)
The only thing, that is left to say is just thank you. Create music, do it with your own passion. I will be the one who applaud :)
PS. If you want, you can tell me, what do you think, first piano composition :) drive.google.com/file/d/0B3ynBwXS4o98MjZidXl2LTYwckU/view
