This weekend gone; Bolts snapped on that engine mount. Going by the corrosion on one, it may had been over tightened and snap a while back. So second bolt taking all the weight snapped Friday. Ratchet strapped to ironed girder to get car to garage. Now found dipstick pipe got squashed. Project for this weekend.

      Great fun!! 🤯🤯🤯
There must have been a way to make that engine mount better. We’ve had 3 hydramount failures on 4 cars and getting the bolts undone is always a painful experience. Is it because of steel bolts screwing into aluminium? Steel and Ali react apparently.
Good luck with your repairs (Scotty)

Well done, some hard graft in the cold ,so that was the morning, what did you do all afternoon ?
An inductor tool for heating those stuck bolts might be a good investment.
If you can bleed it all by pressure machine that would reduce the risk of damage to internal seals on brake and clutch masters.
Pedal pumping to bleed on old cars can ruin the master cylinders sometimes.
I think it's going to be the best one for sale anywhere .
    Great work 👍

Cheers! The afternoon was spent building ScottyX space capsule and launching it into low orbit - that took nearly 3 hours!!🤣
      - "An inductor tool for heating those stuck bolts might be a good investment. " - I have often thought about them, but never looked to see how expensive they are. I completely agree though.
      - "If you can bleed it all by pressure machine...." - I have a Sealey one and it's excellent.
      - "I think it's going to be the best one for sale anywhere . " - I wish!! It'll be pretty good I think, though, and a very good base for another enthusiast to take on and make into a top notch one. Subframes out & reburbed, poly bushes, silicon hoses etc... all the stuff I have done for my 135. If I were keeping it I'd do all that, but since I have not even finished the 135 yet, let alone sorted the RAV, Cayenne and Dino, someone else can do that and get the long term benefits.

Good job Scotty, I had a few little jobs on mine when I changed the exhaust, the new CAT was poorly made, I ended up cutting one of the flanges off and welding it back on, It clashed with the silencer leaving 12mm gap, the supplier didn't want to know!

      Cheers Mark 👍
It was tricky rather than a total ‘mare and would have been much easier if the Gravity exhaust had the removable hook that the original (and the stainless system I bought for my 135) has. Having done it once, I could fit another one quite quickly I think, and overall I’m happy with what I bought. I didn’t have to deal with suppliers thankfully, although the Cat came from one of the ‘big’ names in MG parts so I doubt would have been a problem. Gravity? I can’t comment on but nothing was so much of an issue that I needed to contact them anyway, and thankfully I didn’t have to move mounts. I’d go with a 9/10 recommendation for that combination with a caveat that patience is a virtue 🤣🤣

What cat and exhaust did you go for? It’s easy to believe that manufacturers never even bolt there products to a car, isn’t it?

Lol, you know you are already spending more on it than you will get back if you sell it. Just admit you are going to keep the thing!!

I must stick to my guns and sell. Five cars are too many to maintain properly and I do need to think about the finances. Thankfully I don’t need to make a profit as this is just a hobby - if I can get close to what I’ve spent I’ll be happy. I’ve had fun, learnt stuff and made a few videos - and hopefully done my bit to keep another of the last proper British roadsters in the road 😀
      But…. it is tempting!!
