I'm not sure how many casualties Operation Husky had when it came to the invasion of Sicily but if there's a part 2 it's definitely one to mention as it started the allied liberation of Europe after the North African campaigns
There’s a beautiful physical map of Scotland gifted to the Scottish people by a Polish artist who designed it to thank the people of Scotland for hosting and helping polish troops. Wish we’d have helped them out earlier…
No shade towards you at ALL, but I find it interesting how in our western perspective we view the most "essential" battles of WW2 where the US had a major role in more frequency, opposed to USSR battles. Makes total sense for the Japanese theatre, but in my opinion a war flipped and decidedly cemented as not in Germany favour happened through battles in the East (undeniable western support, but still physical field battles fought by Red soldiers) yet it's hard for wider public to know bout names and backgrounds of stuff like operations bagration or Mars
Yeah it’s crazy how countries only teach its own importance like battles in the Pacific being the most important probably cause that was the biggest threat we faced against in World War 2 but still cool
