    So satisfying to watch. The Mk7 GTI already makes great power for FWD with the stock turbo (or IS38 turbo) and a tune, but if I had the Golf R I would be dreaming about doing this in the future.

      Cuban Rider I'm definitely planning on it. Hopefully after winter. Until then I will keep dreaming.

      I completely agree. I have a 2015 GTI right now, wanting to do a stage two APR tune on a Golf R which I plan to purchase in the next year, and having a secon car, either a E36 or E46 to play around/thrash around. I used to have an E36 m3 which was a conversion car from a 318IS with a german spec m3 engine in it, thing was insanely fast and professionally done. I miss it. I think the golf R with a stage 2 tune would satisfy my speed, but i'd also be more careful with it as its more valuable than any e36. Thanks for spinning my mind wheels a bit! lol

    From one editor to another; this was a great video. I appreciate the work put into the sound design and minimal style. If this much care is put into your videos I can only assume it is also put into your products.

    Fully build a gen 1 2.0 tsi ccta engine and I will buy that sucker. My 2009 passat would love a bullet proof engine. With how much I hammer the car and spank limiter and push so boost through it I think I could use some forged internals. So far no issues except I blew the trans and now I'm saving to swap it to a manual

    It would appear that the exhaust cam shaft was not installed as per Volkswagen’s recommendation. Slides have to be adjust to small cam profile before the cam is installed to avoid damage. I’m surprised this was missed

    • @jasrod2012
      @jasrod2012 3 роки тому

      Plus, exhaust cam should be installed in cover, then the cover should be applied to the head. What was done here, it seems, is exactly what Volkswagen suggest not to do. Very surprising that this could be missed by APR. they should have sprung for the engine repair manual.

    I have noticed the size of piston oil rings...
    No engine oil consuption here...
    VW engineers have failed big time on previous gen of engines EA888.
    Ofcourse these are forged HQ aftermarket pistons but they have no excuse for that fail.
    At this cost you could include ARP bolts on main bearings...just saying :)
    Awesome build BTW!

  • @RacesForTheChannel
    @RacesForTheChannel 5 років тому +4

    I drive an 18 DSG Golf R but for the price of this engine I could just upgrade to an RS3 which I'll eventually do for the price difference. Your looking at around $21k dollars for the turbo upgrade and motor build and another $10k for the upgraded DSG sportsman+ clutch packs. Paying for the name too people. Granted I'm a Stage 2 R but I still wouldn't be foolish enough to spend money like this on my car to get it this fast and powerful. It's better to just upgrade the car 😉

    • @Tireabuser
      @Tireabuser 5 років тому +1

      Mr Red It depends what one aims for. RS3 has a reputation of an understeering monster. Tuned Golf R on the other hand has greater ‘surprise’ factor in a drag race than an Audi RS3 and certainly is faster through corners.

    • @Tireabuser
      @Tireabuser 5 років тому

      MrThePrivateer I agree provided that the engine which you're installing has similar weight and size. Otherwise you're inducing further weight imbalance of a car. If you're after 1/4 mile time only, then you will be most probably fine. If going fast through corners is your story - rather not. Weight is often highly underestimated in tuning. If one takes a look at performance cars, hillclimb ones for example, it becomes obvious that the lightest and the most balanced are the fastest. Of course it's not that 700kg 150hp machine is going to beat 400hp 1400kg (both rwd) but the more twisty and narrow the road - the closer time it sets.
