    I am glad that:
    1 - It's not my car
    2 - I didn't do it
    3 - don't have to pay for it
    I hope nobody was hurt in the events leading up to today's instructional video.
    Thanks from Portugal Charles!

      Great, quick tear down video. Keep up the good work! So thankful that the air cleaning race caR we have been building has the DSG, so we can NOT mess it up with a Money $hift! Looking forward to soon being able to show the World how to “burn rubber instead of toxic gasoline.” Maybe we will get the chance to do a little head to head, friendly race with our Golfs? Might not be totally level playing field though because “R caR is cleaner than your caR!”

      If someone makes an engine autopsy channel of a miss-shift when those believe they wanted to go from third to fourth when they went from third to second when they believe the engine wound to at least 10,000 RPM before self destructing. As the few believe they wanted a diesel dropped off after it ran away when those had to do an autopsy as to what damage the runaway did.

      Ujiltrom M wait till you see front wheel drive transmissions, you’ll never look at a transmission mechanic with the same respect again (unless they pull it too, which a lot of specialty shops don’t do)

    • @ryanb.2967
      @ryanb.2967 4 роки тому +1

      aterack833 i personaly work a lot on FWD and FWD engines are build different
      First of all they are transversals not longitudinal
      So it’s easier to work when the engine is in, even more since the transmission need to be disconnected with less space
      But when talking about longitudinals engines it’s generally more simple to throw it out in my opinion

      I ain’t no expert. . . but the ECM should limit the RPM so that an inadvertent shift into a lower gear should not destroy the engine. We didn’t hear what the respective ratios of second and third were in this car. . . My Humble (see what I did there?) opinion. . .

      @@oijhhytdirhrbru It does not matter, tuned, Turbo, NA. This will happen to most engines when going from redline on 3rd gear down to 2nd gear. Rev limiter is only there for top of any given gear, that is software, in this case it's all mechanical.

      Bram Moerman he forced it into second gear and dropped the clutch, so the physical speed of the car and transmission at such a low gear is what overrevved it, not him pushing the gas

    • @francoisdvanderwesthuizen
      @francoisdvanderwesthuizen 4 роки тому +19

      Because of the red lining in 3rd gear and the speed he was flying in and accidentally forced it into 2nd gear he mechanically overrided all ecm safety measures and it being a mechanical override it is simply impossible for the ecm to react to make things right. When accelerating and you hit the max possible rpm your ecm simply won't allow the engine to turn faster, in case of a downshift from a higher gear at redline rpm into a lower gear the rpm of the engine would be much higher then the ecm or engine can handle...

      I've owned a DSG and a Multitronic(CVT) before. While the Multitronic was kind of weak, the downshift from gear 3 to 2 in a DSG often acted quite bumpy. I'd therefore choose any old-school Aisin 6 speed torque-converter automatic over these two German creations.

I have a friend who works in the VA group who has told me they can see if any re programing has been done even if it was later removed ,with lot of the data stored permenantly. This has shown up when there have been clutch failures due to tuning ,needless to say it voided the warranty. I guess there must be hidden files in the ecu software. A very enjoyable video.. especially watching someone else work.😉

      Yep, most modern cars will show if there has been any tampering with the factory ECM, some of the new ones even record if the ECM has been removed and for how long. That means you go in for a warranty repair and they discover the ECU has been out of the vehicle for XXXX miles and hours and was just replaced, Instant warranty void. Then there are others where you try to do any tuning and it bricks the vehicle.

Car was still under warranty (except for this repair). Amongst the 0300 and 0304 faults was an engine over speed fault. Expanded conditions showed it set at 9700 RPM and just under 100 KPH. Had slight compression loss on cyl. 4. One tweaked intake valve. Just had to replace the cylinder head and it was good. Probably could have just done a valve, but I didn’t want to risk a damaged guide.
