It amazes me how most people don't know the risk of depositing their hard earned money in these banks. Banks don't have money -- except for NEW customer deposits. That's why there is the federal funds rate, where banks have to actually lend money to other banks at a rate, everyday and night. Thats why the FDIC was created to insure 250K for those poor depositors who deposited...millions.
Bottomline: banks don't have money -- my philosophy is to keep a plain old safety box 🦺 handy.

I squirreled away a chunk of change in a box, (truly, but in fire safety firearms safe) and very recently used it to buy a super tiny home for cash. Not land, just this home. It is about 2.5 hours away from where we live full time (for now). At the closing, cash was not (and generally is not) allowed and I had to bring my X$ to a bank and buy a bank check to present at closing. So they get you coming or going. You've probably noticed, a few years ago there was a 'change' shortage (still is I am guessing) but I imagine that may be part of the strategy to get everyone digital, so big bro knows everything you do, buy, where you go, where you buy. This is not a secret nor meant to be. Fortunately I am approaching the last 1/3 of my life and I won't live to see it all, but I do feel for the kiddos and future generations.

@@AllThingsSocialSecurity the last 1/3 of your life may be plenty time. According to my sources, it's not generations away or even the next generation -- it may be soon as next year! 'Deposit" and "dispose" are eerily similar words. If people are foolish enough to put all their savings in something with the colloquial term, "depository institution", then they should consider it a favor if they even get it back 😱
