Me and my mate used to do it when I worked in Salford about 20 odd years ago. Just for fun. Most of those boozers have gone, it was an interesting thing to do especially in Odsall
I stuck with you til the end...I'm your long distance drinking companion from the French Alps to Sketchy boozers in Mancland. Great Content as always! Slainte!
Lived in salford in the 90s...now in oz...my grandad David Barlow worked in the Winston and lived in Holcomb close behind...as did my uncle John sconny Barlow.....good memories....top video
Been a Publican for 30 years my wife and kids just laugh at me love a back street pub wherever I go uk Europe love them meet the locals fab channel keep up the great work 👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺
In the space of 30 years (back when I was 17 in 1994) my local area, Bredbury in Stockport, went from people complaining about how many pubs there were, to now 30 years on in 2024 and I am 47, there's maybe 2 of the 13 pubs we used to have still in operation and people are complaining about the _lack_ of pubs. Even the Queens on Bents Lane now seems to be boarded up and they have closed. The Greyhound on Bents Lane that was always an "old biddies" place and the Rising Sun on Stockport Road that I remember even as a kid going in there and having a meal and as far as i know, nothing has really changed there and they still serve food, there's still the beer garden/kids playground at the back I remember going to as a kid with my parents. How important these places are but they just vanish, it's terrible.
When I was living in Manchester, late at night if in Oxford Road I'd go to The Salisbury and get a pint of Theakstons Old Peculiar on cask BTW Titanic beers are brewed in Stoke-on-Trent - I've had Plum Porter Grand Reserve 6.5% on cask which is superb - it's a rare find,
Filmed through the rain and hail. Gotta love the effort. Everytime you told the camera why are you still watching.. I just kept waiting for it to get better. You got character and because of that I can’t wait to see what you do next 🍻. Keep going rain or shine.
Ha! Danny, this is one of my favourite segments! Haha! Your honesty is the best. Always real and genuine. Gonna watch again tomorrow just to see the 5p bit again and the under-the-street pub. Been to Manchester loads of times, but never saw that one before. Looked killer. Bangin'! Thanks mate, you the man.
Enjoyed 2007-2010 there at Salford Uni. A World away now with the BBC down Salford Quays end! Did you not see The Old Pint Pot, or Kings Head? They would have been just a bit behind you where you open your video up at. Two amazing pubs, back then anyway. Think Kings Arms still hosts music and contemporary theatre nights upstairs and the lark…. Quality
You say it's one of the worst videos but in fact, it's one of the best! Loved to see Manchester while I'm stuck in the States. No matter where you go, these videos are great. Keep it up👍
The Peveril of the Peak is a super little boozer and looks even better in the daylight (green tiling). A pint of PP is a must in there (most of their beer is decent). Gets proper rammed quickly though. Best pubs in Salford are away from the estates towards Salford Central station, tbf. New Oxford and Kings Arms might be pricier but the beer's normally pin-sharp and there's been a good mix of people whenever I've been in. Cheers!
This video is proopa our kid. Nitty gritty England's finest, on a mooch looking for a dull boozer. You inspire me to do a flog of where I live, 30 odd boozers in a 1 mile radius. Keep up good content
Great vid, loved it and the city centre pubs were a good memory lane trip for me having left Manchester 18 years ago and not getting back to the centre very often
The Winston, known locally as Fraggle Rock. I grew up around Ordsall/Pendleton in the 70's & 80's when Salford was full of pubs. The precinct, Cross Lane, Regent Rd & Trafford Rd was full of them. It's sad to see what's happened to my home city, I now live in Co. Roscommon, Rep' of Ireland.
Titanic Plum Porter, my favourite beer. £4.30 in my local! It’s brewed in Stoke on Trent. 9/10 is a good score. It’s definitely a 10 when served right. Only discovered your vids in the last couple of weeks or so. Love ‘em and gonna binge watch them over Christmas.
2 pubs on the estate where you started, the Bricklayers Arms and the Welcome Inn.Also the Palatine opposite Strangeways and The Star near the Cliff training ground. Used to be 1200 ish pubs in old Salford. That's without Eccles , Swinton etc.

Great video - I keep walking past that place with the plum porter when I’m in Manchester for the Damnation metal festival every November. I’ve had the plum porter at home in a bottle so will need to call in next time.

Yes I can confirm (as a British Indian) Cobra is an Indian beer. Just to be sure though, it's brewed here with UK water as you can imagine the cost of transporting that much water intercontinentally is prohibitive.
@@honestplaces Sadly. There are some Indian beers made with East African water by the community there, pretty expensive by the time they get over here, but absolutely lush. BTW you never scored that final Guinness :)
Is it really? That surprises me, I thought it was a marketing thing. Is there much demand for beer in India? I know the sikh /punjab lads like a drink.
The Priory Arms looks so run down from the outside that its awesome. That shot from the rear, with the barbed wire, is pure gold. I'd love to have a pint there.
I was having a beer in Salford on the day of the Hillsborough Disaster and not one person uttered a bad word or any of color comments about scousers so don't be so sure about your welcome sometimes the rough of the area the better the welcome. The boozer I was in was called the Tallow Tub if anybody remembers it?
