      I know I am just reaching now but if you could answer just one question: Am I right in assuming Binomial will NEVER HAVE dependent trials and Hypergeometric will NEVER HAVE independent ones? Distinguishing between hypergeometric gives the most trouble and this is the only concrete distinguishing factor I could think of

    • @Yuvrai96
      @Yuvrai96 10 місяців тому

      @@shivamupadhyay6325since we make selections without replacement in hypergeometric distribution, they'll necessarily be dependent.

    Ultimately, I've finished watching your video series both discrete and continuous random variables. But I didn't watch the multinomial distribution ( the previous video of this series). Your videos are pretty informative for people that can understand quickly (including me lol) and these videos don't consume much time because they are quite short. But for the people who don't know much about math, I think they will be struggled a little. They are advanced concepts, I know it's hard to teach without confusion. I like that there are captions for all videos and the text on the screen for non-native English speakers like me.
    Thanks for this series anyway. It's a great watch for my exam!

    A researcher looked at the occurrence of retinal capillary hemangioma (RCH) in patients with von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease. RCH is a benign vascular tumor of the retina. Using a retrospective consecutive case series review, the researchers found that the number of RCH tumor incidents followed a Poisson distribution with λ = 3 tumors per eye for patients with VHL. Using this model, find the probability that in a randomly selected patient with VHL:
    a. There are exactly four occurrences of tumors per eye.
    b. There are more than four occurrences of tumors per eye.
    c. There are fewer than four occurrences of tumors per eye.
    d. There are between four and six occurrences of tumors per eye, inclusive
    In a survey of nursing students pursuing a master’s degree, 84 percent stated that they expect to be promoted to a higher position within one month after receiving the degree. If this percentage holds for the entire population, find, for a sample of 20, the probability that the number expecting a promotion within a month after receiving their degree is:
    a. Five b. At least six
    c. No more than four d. between five and eight, inclusive

    A question out of curiosity: why are they called like that? The binomial I know it's because the "bi" corresponds to having two possibilities (pass/fail, yes/no, 0/1, etc) but the word binomial reminds me more of a math expression and actually the word "binary" makes more sense to me personally. Why the word geometric in the second one? What does the word "negative" correspond to for the negative binomial? I know, this won't come on a test but I can't seem to find a relation yet of the words used to name them.
