It's like Jarvis Cocker took Ketamine and channelled Mark E Smith and Simon Munnery through a lettuce that cost 50p at a car boot sale. And that's bleak.
I just love that YA are that perfect mix of 90s indie/britpop/dance throwback but so original and modern (both lyrically and musically). This track is a fucking trip and really hope 2022 is massive for these lads!
I love how every Yard Act song has the same energy as a bloke cornering you in the pub and telling you a long rambling story where he keeps repeating himself and stumbling over his words, pre-empting arguments seemingly with himself
the chorus for this song is 100% going to get taken by movie studios and put into movies and trailers about robbing banks or fucking people on the stock market or whatever other dumb hollywood bullshit that completely misses the point the lyrics are trying to convey.
Love it! My 69 year old mum put me onto this after reading a record review in The International Express in South Australia. Don't quote me on the paper.
And another one! God damn guys, you're gonna give me a heart attack with all this incredible material you've been putting out! Also I love that long-haired-lettuce-lady is a recurring character in the Yard Act universe
Yard Act are currently my fave band, They just keep knocking it out of the park with their singles. PS, Glad to see the crazy dancing girl, with the mad hair back again. I love her dancing. Happy Mondays had Bez, Yard Act need her. Ps, I noted that the Rover 216 car from The Overload video is also back too
James seems to really suit the totally sleezy suited Tory look. It's very disturbing. To quote him at the Rough Trade East gig "I tried being principled for 10 years and it just made me depressed". Looking forward to more YA in the future.
That car there looks like the excellent sort of bargain you would find unlocked in an empty parking garage at 3:15 A.M. with no explanation and a bucket of mysterious syringes in the back seat
Mark E Smith? More a Leeds version of Marky Mark. However it was worth the visit for the Neil Ruddock ad that popped up for life insurance and 'caring for your family' less than a year after he got done in court for non payment of £80,000 in maintenance costs.
@@rorybaker6586 the frantically dancing girl as well as the car and the lettuce can be seen in "The Overload", and "Land of the blind" has some actors from the latter as well!
Yard Act's album hits #1 in the UK and in the USA all we get is utter crap from artists named Lil __ and Baby ___. Please come rescue us from musical mediocrity! (and Trumpism while you're at it). Hope to see you guys in San Francisco or Oakland some time!
@@harryvedral8679 I’d definitely say they’re cleverer than dry cleaning, I love them but Florence (pretty sure that’s her name but don’t quote me) is just rambling in a deadpan voice. I think a lot more effort goes into a yard act song than a dry cleaning one
@@harryvedral8679 PLEASE don’t take that as me undermining dry cleaning. New long leg was one of my favourite albums of last year. But I don’t think they fall in the same category as black midi/country, new road when it comes to “cleverness” and I think yard act are a level above them when it comes to creativity. But that’s not a discredit to dry cleaning, more a credit to yard act
Sniffing glue was a middle class sport in the early to late 70s early late 80s ...then it became crack epidemic like ... even now I get a bit excited at watching a carpenter
I want to like this and I will try but super Art Brut .. Fall esque vibe.. almost Blur Parklife meandering in some post punk instrumentations - I just had to come back cause the chorus is catchy but also obnoxious - anyways pulled me in, gonna have to give em some change
There's good reasons to like em, but trying to mix every sound and style together doesn't quite work. Maybe put a bit more hip-hop in the mix. Too smart can be stupid

with just a hint of stranglers
lol NOTHING fucking original
It is a rehash of how we grew up
I love how every Yard Act song has the same energy as a bloke cornering you in the pub and telling you a long rambling story where he keeps repeating himself and stumbling over his words, pre-empting arguments seemingly with himself
lol
Also said that yard act reminds me of one of Frank galligher s rants from shameless
He's amazing that way tho
It's like the best of the Happy Mondays and the best of Talking Heads, brill. Love it lads.
Greetings from Bosnia, thanks for the toy guns :P
It appears I have become a Yard Act fan...
They are like a fun version of The Fall.
Your guitarist's pants look really comfy.
Dance punk is like 95% bangers, I swear
These guys will go huge
I,m Huge
Y'all kick ass
It’s simply impossible not to love this band. I’ve arrived late (April 2024) but just cannot get enough of them.
Ahhh...ghetto lettuce! Green vinyl make sense now. Love it.
Love it!
Getting "Talking Heads" and "Scroobius Pip" vibes
the chorus for this song is 100% going to get taken by movie studios and put into movies and trailers about robbing banks or fucking people on the stock market or whatever other dumb hollywood bullshit that completely misses the point the lyrics are trying to convey.
I drove up to their show, paid my 50p and I was absolutely blown away. Can't wait for their upcoming album!
Can hear a lot of Ian Dury and the Blockheads in this one. Really cool
Yeah…definitely.
Have heard James list them as an influence
take the money, take the money, take the money and run!!!!
Love it! My 69 year old mum put me onto this after reading a record review in The International Express in South Australia.
Don't quote me on the paper.
埼玉に 埼玉に 埼玉に いる!!
this song feels like something i would’ve heard on a radio station at a thrift shop back in ‘16. good stuff
im loving this like seriously...
this song it's like a drug, i can't stop listening to and i don't know why!
Heard this on 6 Music yesterday. Current favourite choon. Play in Newcastle soon willya?

Who is that dancer?!? She needs to be in every video! I can't wait to see this band live.
no paro de escucharlo, es impresionante, saludos desde Uruguay, que nada los detenga!
Quickly becoming the most exciting new band around. So glad I bought tickets a few months ago for their tour next year 🙂🙂🙂
Definitely the best band from U.K since a very very long time ✊✊ well done guys !
The Uk goes back up lads.
Lol
That Rover is indeed Golden still
Oh .I thought you were talking about that big old thing over the road
Probably the first band from Instagram ads that I really enjoy
Me too
Not gonna mention the best ever but by eck wat a brilliant modern and new perspective on David and his clan ...... love it ♥️
I’ve been following these dudes for a few years and I’m always excited when they release new shit!
I like this song.
Very unique, reminds me of Art Brut kinda love it
What a band...
God I fucking love this band

I was listening to Nothing But Thieves and I don’t know how I found this, but I love it here.
Both bands are great in totally different ways!
Amazing
This takes Cake into the 20s!

Picking up the gauntlet the Fall threw down.
Aces!
You have my attention.
Art Brut 2 electric boogaloo
Good Stuff ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sounds like our life in Newfoundland.
This is Revacholl as hell
awesome 💸💵💶💷💴
It appears that I as well have become a Yard act fan.
That car there looks like the excellent sort of bargain you would find unlocked in an empty parking garage at 3:15 A.M. with no explanation and a bucket of mysterious syringes in the back seat
"And there are starving children in Africa, so go send your toy guns to Bosnia" has been stuck in my head for the past week
the talking heads of the 20's !
I hope this band tour with IDLES
Yer could call it the middle class tour sponsered by the guardian
There’s a fine touch of Mighty Boosh about this video.

I really like how some of your characters travel from video to video, that's awesome))
Where else can we see these characters?

The Rover’s golden ;)
James acaster is furious
Something to get our teeth into....brilliant....
This is what i always wanted Franz Ferdinand to sound like, and what they thought they sounded like but never could. Someone doing postpunk right!
This is such a succinct and valid observation.
Innit funny?
Banger
A breath of fresh air in a time where British culture seems to be dying.
british culture lmao. we have none.
ok y'all got me with the algorithm

It hit number 2 in the UK. Don’t worry - we get all of that musical mediocrity here too but with the odd glimpse of hope!
Can't fault this
Christ, it’s like the Kaiser Chiefs went to Uni
(Jk love you guys rly)

James Smith = Mark E. Smith 🌟

some would say they're just a little cleverer than their contemporaries
More clever than Dry Cleaning, Black Midi and Black Country, New Road? That's quite the declaration.

Leeds - LSD & 2 EEs
Well done ⭐⭐⭐
I hear a lot of half man half biscuit in their tunes
Its right though ain’t it lads
brilliant!
FUCKING AMAZING £££
Am I witnessing the reincarnation of Mark E Smith?🤔
Certainly not
1:02 - cor, he scrubs up well
THE FALL?
Why is the guitarist using a frog pedal. Not that i complain i just want to know the creative decision making
makes it sound like that
They are brilliant. The front man is a modern mark e Smith
All Leeds Arent We.

Actually commented on this song a couple of years ago, funny how the tube changes ya name over time
I think this is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard 💀
