Right, because we had to push it back a few weeks we thought we'd sling you all one more tune off or debut record by way of an apology / peace offering. This one is called Rich.
It's a hypothetical song about me accidentally becoming rich, and contemplating what I might do with all the power it brings. It's basically saying, c'mon let's have some sympathy for all the millionaires out there, it's tough for them too.
Obviously it ain't really saying that, but as we all know, money doesn't really bring you happiness, and even the rich have feelings to process and therapists to feed. Don't get stuck on simple ideas... Also, i should make it completely clear here that I am in no way defending the rich. They deserve all the stick they get, the rich bastards.
(Unless you're a rich bastard who wants to preorder The Overload)
Y.A. x
Almost by accident,I have become rich
Through continued reward for skilled labour in the private sector
And a genuine lack of interest in expensive things,
It appears I have become rich
And since I have become rich
I have been constantly living in fear, of losing everything,
That the bubble will burst and falling from my perch
I will return once again to the life I used to live
With the things I didn’t have before I had become rich
I put a pinch away each week in a place my hand won’t fit
So I cannot reach it, It is made of solid steel
A square foot deep with a slit, no bigger than an inch
One day, when the seams split in such a way that it can’t be restitched
I will scratch that insatiable itch. I’ll buy the whole hospital,
And everything in it.
It appears I have become rich!
You twitching like some headless bird
Whilst the witch doctors poached for the stragglers in the herd
Pitching for business down on skid row
The line goes out the door, and you’re right at the back
Man, two more poor kids dead in a ditch
I fucking love being rich!
(Can’t pin that on me)
It appears i have become so rich
I’m literally drowning in it
But no matter how much I’ve got
I’ll never lose the plot on top of the hill
Looking over the valley you can see for miles and still get shot
The farmer doesn’t want his cows getting what the other cows have got
He keeps his livestock
Stuffed in his sock, that’s why he’s rich
It appears we’ve both become rich
It appears we’re both very very very rich
It appears we've now got gout
It appears we have no shame
Lord have mercy on my soul, never
No one ever tells you, how tough it really is
Please teach me, How to be both modest and rich in equal measure
I’ve done some terrible things because I am rich,
Looking for opportunities in ventures that are bound to bring the silver rain
Sure it’s a rush being kush,
But then again, life is a bitch,
Yeah people hate you for it, people really hate you for it
You run a real risk being rich
It appears I have become rich (woop!)
It appears I have become rich (woop!)
Rolls off the tongue real nice, RICH!
Flip the switch, kill em all
Scratch the itch Kill em all, Kill em all
Own it, embrace it, Be it
RICH RICH RICH

It appears that almost entirely by accident, working my way through endless videos on UA-cam that I've become a fan of Yard Act and subscribed to the channel.
Brilliant!
Old lady here... still love discovering music.
I have found my new favorite band! Love these guys. 😃
The continuity in the Yard Act universe is amazing hahaha. Another slapper lads!
let's all be grateful to Mark E. Smith for the music we have all been enjoying for the last thirty years in our lensless, rimmed glasses and suede boots.
Listened randomly to a few songs. The Fall all over the place
Yeah, sure, I could also add, more appropriately, John Cooper Clarke, but all these comparisons detract from the fact that this is new, of itself, and fucking great!
@@michaelcincotta7694 Not my impression.
Grateful they’re influenced by the Fall and not Bieber. Large mercies in this day and age.
@@michaelcincotta7694 Imagine dismissing a band as beloved and influential as The Fall after a only few songs and your only comment is that they were "all over the place". It's actually heartbreaking.
I absolutely cannot wait for this band to blow up and get the success they deserve.
They already did they’re called The Fall 👀
I thought this at the time you commented, bought a ticket to see them in Manchester O2 ritz, and its by far the best gig I've been to this calendar year. Liam Gallagher didn't come close. Although it's the small venues that are the best, I'm glad I've seen them before they do explode!
Success to true artists is about not blowing up
Graham's fuming that Dr J Konopinski made something of his pointless media degree
ahah i forgot that was his degree
I think you mean Mr. J. Konapinski.
Oh no wait that's not an 'm' that's a 'd'...
Sounds a bit Russian to me
@@amcarthy1 ...or Polish?
I suck at finding new music usually, but I found these guys before my friends. I will gloat endlessly
@Genghis kharnage you must be fun at parties.
you absolutely should gloat. i am also doing that.
by my standards..... you still suck at finding music.... cheers
They're such a _Yard Act_ to follow.
hahaha.i saw what you did there.
So that's why there was a 50p on stage at Blackpool last night lmao. I love this band so much. After they went off stage I went and bought a ticket for their solo gig in Manny. Fckin amazin.
These music videos imply the existence of a Yard Act Cinematic Universe.
I'm now in my 60's and not really paid any attention to new music, whatever new means. Anywhoo! the video of endurance and the guy on the bench in an estate just like the one I grew up in until that bitch Thatcher destroyed whatever community we still had, I had to watch and listen. Anyway I love this band, and their lyrics. i would definitely make the effort to see them.
Love this band just what the music Scene need
Agreed. Perfect for today
@@alessandrob9744 WTF your off your head sunshine
@@alessandrob9744 kriss kross will make you jump 🤣🤣
I spent 40 years working in the homes of folk whom didn’t realise they were Rich and didn’t know how to be happy 🏴❤️
I first heard this song on my way to work one morning on a local college radio station and have been hooked since!
I have been listening to this band for 45 years except we called them The Fall
😂😂😂 me too.
I think Yard Act are the first band to have me THIS on edge for each new thing they put out.
It's proper exciting 😊
The landlord Fat Andy, and the fifty pence piece. Love the crossovers. There were probably more that I missed too.
edit: J. Konopinski from Fixer Upper
Trapper, Fat Andy, Skinhead and Farmer all stall holders from Overload video
Fat Andy also eating Peanuts is pretty subtle
Also of note in the Overload video: a 'prosecco o clock' poster (presumably half price from ikea)
Reminds me of Swearing at Motorists. One of my happiest random finds was listening to NPR and this song came on .The lyrics and the voice are fantastic
I wish to join with the dozens and dozens of others who enjoy this group. They have motivated me to purchase pelts in order to grow rich.
Most interesting band I've heard in a long time
I really thought this guy was around 70 years old when I first heard this.
Genie: "You have 3 wishes."
Bob: "I wish I was rich!"
Genie: "Done. And your second wish?"
Rich: "I wish I had a lot of money."
Some of the best new music I've heard in a while.
Indeed it is. The style of this track is a cross between Beck and The Streets in my opinion. Still a great track though.
Thanks to NPR for my discovery of this absolute banger of a song
It appears I have become a fan of Yard Act like instantly!
If Vampire Weekend is known as the Wes Anderson of indie rock, Yard Act is Edgar Wright
50 pence piece from Land Of The Blind
J. Konopinski from Fixer Upper
What an amazing attention to detail!
Trapper from trappers pelts, also in the overload!
@@blackcountrynewroadie Olly Irving and farmer also in Overload
Since discovering this band, I have become richer, just not financially.
Man best band ive heard in ages hopefully they'll get mega famous soon really talented funny & cool
Definitely one of the strangest tracks on the album but probably a favourite. The day after I’d heard it I had already listened to it 5 times. Really looking forward to see what Yard Act do after this
Those who think this band is exactly like The Fall either haven’t listened to enough of The Fall or haven’t listened to enough Yard Act. Both great bands, but this one is doing something different while embracing the influence.
James Smith channeling the late Mark E Smith quite shockingly well on this one. Definitely worth checking this band out!
But with a pulse
"Guys I'm thinking we should make another music video"
"For which song?"
"ALL OF THEM MUHAHAHA"
I bloody love these! My hype for this album is unreal but what you've created with the visual is such a perfect accompaniment to these songs.
Bloody love this band
.........honestly, this song and " ISOLATION BY THE IMPURES " are some of the best songs i heard and are keeping me going during these hard times.........
Is that Billy Bob Thornton watching the telly?
That FIFA 22 money coming in big ey lads?
It appears they have become rich.
This is miles better than it needs to be.
I fucking love Yard Act. Cannot wait for the album. At least I know I am not their oldest fan, because Elton John loves them.
From the band who gave us ‘The Overload’
I can't stop listning to it. I almost feel rich.
People really really do hate you for it.. 🤦♀️
Love this track though!! Obsessed! And obsessed with every 50p I'm currently scuppering away 😂
Yard Act: The Fall circa 1981-1982.
Just now heard of Yard Act today. Love the album. I'm a fan for life guys. You're gonna be bigger than the Rolling Stones or Beatles.
Come on Keith you going too far on that one.
hmmm don’t think so
They deserve to be
Great lyrics got to be a John Cooper Clarke fan
My new favourite group.
Never heard of em.
Brilliant!
The great modern day poet and troupe, thank you
Just discovered you guys! So glad I did love this so much!!!!
This is a great song thanks Niles
That fifty pence piece…
lead singer turning his head back to say rich at 3:00 cracks me up
Brilliant band
He's definitely a young Simon Munnery
Thank you! A decent sound similiar to 'The Fall' but comprehensible!
How many music videos do you want to make?
Yard act: Yes
This fucking band is so dope!
The album's great, but what you're doing with the videos is phenomenal
Anybody here remember Half man half biscuit?
They're still making music. Brilliant band.
The landlord Fat Andy, Fifty Pence Piece, J. Konopinski & Peanuts. What a fucking universe!
This is about to blow up. Guarantee it.
The Bass Is si adictive
Lord have mercy,, no, we don't appreciate the accuracy, that's for them t'uther folks.........
YESSS!!! James!!!! GO ON!!!!
Yet another class act courtesy of Yard Act!
Wow. Is that Jordan Peterson in the cowboy hat? What an awesome band.
I'm suddenly convinced there's a lore behind their music videos, j konopinsky, 50p's Graham and fat Andy. It's all connected somehow... or maybe it's all just a brilliant gag
dr j konopinsky, do you know him? sounds a bit russian to me
Yes!
this video is what my dreams are like
I remember my first Fall album.
There was a Nigel Farage ad that I was forced to endure seconds of in order to attempt to watch this video 😭
This is great 👌
So many songs and videos in a row. We have got something Sherlock
Been a while since I understood what's being said; bit of The Residents & bits of Primus and something different and very very British English.
Bloody hell, will you guys hurry up and make a disappointing song? How the hell are you keeping this ridiculous standard up? This might be the best one yet.
I do hope that you have the link to every potilician. They need to see this.
🔥💯DAMMMMMM
You guys are amazing. Cheers from Yankee land
That is realy good stuff ;)
📢
Cake and Chips
This is great!
This band is like Cake meets Doctor and the Medics.
Very Fall-esque......nowt wrong wi' that.
Nice ⭐⭐⭐
Love this !🔥
i fucking l😊ove this band
The videos just keep getting better.
Great & funny
Yard Act is such a goldmine (pun fucking intended!)
KOOL!!!
I'm trying to not find this ______ but then it hurts
I dream of being a 50p WINNER!
Nice drums
50p in Australia is nearly a dollar!!!
I'm almost rich
J. Koponinski making good use of his Media Phd.
"a bald Michael Palin"!
WOW. Just to hear a politically-charged (but catchy) post-punk song in 2022 gives me hope for the musical universe. What is it in the UK water that is giving us so many great bands like Yard Act, Shame, Idles, Fontaine DC, etc? Wish the USA could join the movement and root out Trumpism on this side of the pond!
Oh yes, because trumpism is a big problem here - as we live within the aperture of a shrinking Overton window, where anything more conservative than Blair is ‘far right’.
This will be fun live in a crowd!
