great playing and nice to see a review of the Express. I have the 10 inch version and love it, compact and sounds killer - especially the blues. thanks for posting:)
@@pascalslingerland hi Pascal, i no longer gig but used to gig a Mesa F30 and it was great for pubs about that size. The Express is a better amp, I think you’ll be fine with it. All the best Billy
Thank you so much for this video. I think I'm about to buy one of these and I am now SO EXCITED! It's like Christmas when I was kid but it's just a Tuesday and I'm 48!
I have the same amp in head version. The crunch channel sounds fantastic. If you wanted to go heavier, throw a 6 band into the fx loop and you get pretty close to what sounds like a Mark. Though the Express has a lot more mids and can sound muddy. They seriously sound incredible with an EQ in the loop. Like all Mesas their gain is affected a huge amount by the treble knob first, all others second. Probably the most underrated Mesa they released, amazing cleans and all the other channels are great.
Cheers Js1! It's a 901 model from 1991,l believe Richard Kruspe from Rammstein made them very popular, its got a lovely slim,Stratish feel to it,plays great and a tasty purple too,it's a keeper, thanks again for checking out the vid!

Nice to see you play on the combi I also have at home: a Duesey Starplayer TV Custom and a Mesa Express 5:25. Your getting the best sounds out of it. That s cool. When searching for Metal you max out the Gain, max out the Contour (deepest Mesa V) and manage volume with Master and manage tone with the Guitar tone and Level with the Guitar Volume pot. You mention the amp to be new. Sadly it has been discontinued. It got in the way of the more expensive Mark V I guess.
@@aussiephildan440 Yeah it was. Sadly the price was increased as well into "usual Mesa territory". Im holding on as long as I can to my Express 5:25 Plus. The tones you get out if it keep inspiring me to crank it somewhat more. But damn - is the thing loud ...
This model has a switch for 25 watts class AB or 5 watts class A. The video demo appears to have been done all with 5 watts. The later “plus” model allow you to switch between 25 15 and 5 watts.
highly recommended.. worth every dime.. i had one..and if you sound bad in this amp, there is something with you..
Great to see you guys back … what a start a boogie and a duesenberg … cool
Thanks Gerry! Yep,Phil had to review the new Boogie,i'm so jealous! It's a great Amp.
Phil & Dan back in the house rocking out so cool
Cheers Doug! It's a Beast of an Amp!
Great demo of great amp i bought a mesa express 5:25 and what impressed me as much as the sound is the build quality hand built boutique amp 👍
Cheers Warren, it's a beast alright 👍

Hi Billy, how is the 1x10 for a small gig (200p), medium loaded blues?

Cheers Jeremy for the insight. A very impressive amp indeed. Seems a shame this line was superseded.
Loved that intro jam! What scale/mode?
Raw and pure
Great video well done
Best Express demo on the web! Awesome playing! Is this the 10 inch version?
Thank you Kind Sir. This is the 12 inch version with a celestion vintage 30
That’s one nice ESP.

Good combo for sure. The amp is from around 2011, never mentioned it is new. The series was replaced with the mark 5:25

Straight out of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.😱😱😱Or possibly STRAW DOGS. What a Fucking Pair.
Maybe because 5 + 25 = 30 total watts? That’d be my guess.

@@ElBrooklyn1 It switches between 30 and 5 watts. I am not sure where they got the 25 from.
Brother… lay off the Wah Bar. You’re good enough pulling the tone, you don’t need the distraction. Rock On.🙂
