You should do more amp reviews. You didn’t waste any time trying to show off, you did exactly what you knew would show the amp’s tones which is why we watch reviews!!! Thank you

I have the head run into a 2 1x12 cab. I love it. This guys demo is one of the best. I picked up on an "Entry Level-if there is one" comment. I have heard people call it a poor mans Mesa Boogie. O.K. I did not know there was a price point that + quality. I have seen More expensive 50 watt heads made in China. I do not think they sound anywhere as good or versatile as these. I would not sell mine for more than I paid. For a comparable amp today would be 2,800 on up. I would love a Friedman. There is some thing about American made. Yes USA. Hughes & kettner are great. I would rather have my efects not all built into my amp.

Great review brother I started out on Marshals and then Switch to the Mesa Boogie Triaxis and a rack mount Dual Rectifie I recently purchased the 5:50 Plus Head love the simplicity almost went with the Mark 5 but the salesman told me to play the 550 before I made up my mind This amp does exactly what I want run this with 2 4X12 Mesa cabinets with vintage 30's Great for any venue size also love the 5 watt Option Great for the studio

I switched from the fitrst Express 5:25 to the Plus. Got my purchase price back after playing the amp for 10 yrs or so. Rebought the 5:25 Plus.
The Slider post gain EQ adds a lot to the flexibilty, clean is better (they say LoneStar based). The first only had the Contour knob post EQ. Now you have 3 power options: 5, 15,, 25 on the 5:25, 5, 2t5, 50 on the 5:50. It was 2. I use the new middle option most. Also durng medium size club venue gigs my band mates hate me when I go beyond 15 watts.
Then there is the Solo. Very relevant if you go straight into the amp.
I use it mainly as a clean pedal platform. It is so damn versatile it takes forever to find the best gtar /pedals / amp setup. More so when seitching gtars, which I do a lot. Singles, P90 and PAFs. All go.
But: after owning it for 15 yrs or so Im still loving and learning to use it. From Jazz to Metal: it s all there.

Great review and great amp. You need to get you a Lake Placid blue Strat to match it!!!

Good demo, I wish you would have focused less on distortion sounds though but of course it has to please every customer. I liked how you explained the eq presets.

For me mesa may well be the best combo with a stratocaster, they sound great together.

Agreed. It s easier to get it set up right with single coils than with P90s or PAFs. Can be done. Needs a mid cut. Given the flex EQ options can be done though.

I only ever play single coils, just love the sound of them. I think the sound on "Your Love" by the Outfield was a strat through a mesa if I'm not mistaken. That is one of the better strat sounds out there imo@@MrRFasters

I have a 5:50 with a single spkr... I get the most awesome tone, sustain, and all those warm fuzzies by putting a volume pedal in the effects loop. I crank the pre up to 100 and the power amps to around 70-80% or so depending on the channel set(two sets of two configurations)...... the volume pedal is impeding much of the volume but, oh mamma!, the tone when those tubes warm up... can't over recommend a mesa. The point is awesome tone without blasting out your ears or your neighbors'... great for recording because the white noise is about nothing. Turn it on. Let it cook a bit. And then go to guitar dream land........ bye bye.....

Yes, I know you can impede the signal between the amp and spkr. This works for me.. experiement for yourself.

I have a single 12 5:50 as well, and I use a volume in the FX loop too....I love it. It's like a gain knob for the power section.

It has 3 types of EQ, not 2. It has the regular TMB tone stack, the slider EQ, and the preset knob

i was about to sell my amp for a kilo of silver......whew glad i didnt. i rarely use it in the studio...I would never take it out since my pedalboard has all I need. But....had to revisit a review to realize how groovy she is. Ill apologize to her when
i get home, and put her back in the studio and on her stand/perch?

I used to like Mesa in the 90's. Then I treated my depression and realized how dark and depressing Mesa amps are. Now its Fuchs, Fender, and Supro.
