      Are there any plans for a Fillmore 100 watt version with 6l6's? I am really interested in the Fillmore 50 but have been holding off just in case there is a 100 watt version on the horizon.Thanks much!

      Thanks for the reply. I have been playing through a Mesa Lonestar for the last 14+ years and although I absolutely love it there is something about the Fillmore 50 that has really peaked my interest! Guess I just have to play one and take it from there....How could I go wrong, It's a Mesa Boogie!!

    That 6V6 tone is FANTASTIC! Just the right amount of compression, not too tight, not too spongy. Great harmonics too and tone for days even at lower volume! Tough to find many 6V6 combos out there that even come close to being as versatile as this guy right out of the box! Great price point for a hand-made product with excellent support out of CA too! The clean classic looks with the vintage Boogie badge seal the deal!

    Nice demo. I was originally a Mark IIA combo owner that I bought new in summer of 1979 (ordered direct from Mesa as one did back then). Great amp.
    I also bought a White Mark IV combo new in 1990, which I still own in mint shape. Love Mesa amps since 1979....Still have all my Mesa Boogie Christmas cards too from the early days!...

I’ve constantly been trying to find something that I don’t like about it or that could be better and I simply can’t think of a single thing that this amp doesn’t do great. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about buying it, definitely worth the money.

    My only real question in regards to the amp is first and foremost to say you have done a great demo of the amp. I think this is the best demo online for it. I’m getting a good clear sound out of my speakers and can definitely hear every detail of the note, so thank you for that. I like the amp great deal, and I think it will dial in the tones I want and certainly be more compact than what I’m using now I really would like to pick up a lower watt amp but I have had a hard time deciding this is a lot more manageable. I have one studio, well actually too because I have a dirty Shirley and also a silver jubilee and I know that people say the silver Jubilee is like the greatest gigging amp ever for small venues but I have to tell you there’s just too much gain in it and the clean channel you can manipulate, but if you try to use the dirty channel, it’s just not really that controllable with a 4 PAF pick ups even I don’t know I’m just not looking for that high of a game tone. I want the option to be there for gigs but honestly I don’t ever get any more aggressive than Led Zeppelin or free and I think this amp will allow me to dial all of those tones in from the beautiful cleans with my ES 335 and get that B.B. King sound all the way to the naughty channel and getting with the options on both sides. This just seems like an ideal lamp but I really am curious how well it pushes that 90 W speaker it’s one of my favorite speakers it it’s just a pretty large speaker for that amplifier as far as wattage rating. However, I can understand that would give you more headroom to some extent in a small amp and like I said, I think the speaker is very valuable as far as the sound is concerned, I just wasn’t sure how well it would push it. Either way. This is basically And correct me if I’m wrong on this, I am seeing the amp is hand wired, which makes it even better and it $2200 not bad at all. Truly, the amp reminds me with its gain modes and staging on each channel. It sort of reminds me of my king of tone pedal, except for it’s an amplifier and the sounds are slightly different but when I throw it on this amplifier, it’s gonna sound pretty sweet I think either way looks like you sold me and I’ve talked myself into it in this book I just wrote you. Thanks so much for the demo I’m convinced, but I really am curious about the speaker, like I said sounds great, but is it there for headroom only and I’m glad the stamp is not metal and thank you for not playing all distortion and making us miserable. I truly think people focus so much on game that they forget about their own personal tone gain is a wonderful thing, but it needs to be used appropriately and I just see the kids going crazy with it more and more and more, thanks again and best wishes for a great day 6:30

    Great vid. Though i worked a few blocks away from Mesa HQ in the early '90s never had an amp i demo'd afterwards work for me. Guess i just couldn't crank them in shops. This Fillmore looks killer/perfect. Enough swat for a bar gig and i'd '3 channel' it, ch1 for clean then hit that with an OD like a Bad Monkey and set ch2 for leads. What else would i need ? Maybe a chorus pedal. Great Amp!!

    How does this compare to the Lonestar Special ? Is it higher gain then the LS Special?

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  5 років тому +11

      Hi Dave - The Lone Star is more blackface in it's circuit, but the EL-84s add some tighter bass and midrange grit and some chime on top. The Fillmore is more Tweed in it's circuit and the HI mode definitely offers a bit more gain than the highest gain of the the LS Special. The Drive mode offers about the same amount of gain as the LSS but again, the two are different due to the circuits being slightly different. The Fillmore is likely slightly tighter and brighter, the LSS slightly darker and more full. That all said, it would be way easier to make them sound very close to each other than the differences you would hear with everything set at 12:00. They're much more similar than different, but it's the subtleties that count in the end, and also - it's the control and feature set that lots of people make decisions on... Hope this helps and thanks for your interest!

  • @wheresallthezombies
    @wheresallthezombies 5 років тому +2

    damn it guys. why do you have to be so good. how much headroom does the clean have though? would it possible to play this in a band setting? specifically in a pop punk setting with distortion pedals in the front?

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  5 років тому +1

      Ha! Thanks Zombies... :) The Fillmore 25 definitely has enough power for a small to medium gig and it's definitely a great amp for pedals! If you're in a LOUD punk band, we might suggest you look into the head and pair that with a 2x12 Fillmore extension or a 2x12 Recto Compact cab as that will get you the kind of punch and deeper bass that sounds great for punk styles. The 1x12 combo could probably pull off lots of punk gigs but if you play loud, a closed back cab will make it do the right thing when it comes to heavier styles. Hope this helps and thanks for your interest!

      And aside from the build quality being amazing, their customer service is known for being FANTASTIC! Not sure how, or if, that's changed since Gibson bought Mesa, but I'd imagine it's still great.

      Generally speaking they are quite solid which also means that used mesas tend to be in good shape. Of course that’s a function of whomever owned it previously. But for new ones this should not be an issue

      I’ll be completely honest, they’re hit or miss, and they’re generally not the easiest amps to work on. Lots of people out there that have never had issues, lots of other people with nothing but a nightmare on their hands. Some of them are very complicated amps with a lot crammed into a very very small space.
      And don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Mesa hater, my Mark IV is my fave amp of all time, but a spade is a spade.

    Agree that this sounds marvelous. I get that it's 25w, but it's also a Boogie. Meaning: I have to imagine that the volume of this thing is excessive at the settings you're demonstrating here.

      Hi James - The Fillmore 25 is a giggable amp but it also has a great threshold of clip and overdrive without having to be unpleasantly loud. It rides the line between the two very nicely. Plus, the Drive mode does a great job of picking up where the Clean leaves off in terms of clipping and drive sounds. Thanks for the kind words! :D

      Yes- you would plug each speaker into one of the 4 ohm inputs. Sounds great!

    @MESA/Boogie Not totally familiar with the Mesa products, but as a "home" hobbyist, how would one choose between something like the Fillmore 25 (or even 50) or something like the Mark V 25? These are the 2 amps that have currently have my attention (yes, this excellent demo worked!!!) I hear Phillip McKnight rave about his Mark V 25 as a great all around amp that works at any volume and can you from clean, blues, rock, heavy rock, & etc. Aside from technical characteristics (6V6 vs EL34's) how would one choose between them or what drives one player towards one or the other? Thanks!!!

      Hi Brian - Great questions and thanks in advance for your interest! It's not an easy question to answer except to say that the very best way to go about it is to get to a music store that has both and play them, first and foremost. Next, between the Mark Five: 25 and the Fillmore 25, i would say that if you play mostly clean, blues and vintage rock type stuff, the Filllmore 25 is more specifically voiced toward vintage oriented sounds, whereas the Mark Five: 25 can do well in a Vintage style, but it's also got more modern sounds on offer as well as more unique sounds that it offers, given that there's 3 distinct modes in each channel. There's also the graphic EQ which is footswitchable and a powerful tone control that offers a huge range of adjustability, so there's a wider range of possible sounds in the Mark Five: 25. That said, some people like a more simple interface, and less options to deal with, and if that's what you like, the Fillmore will likely be attractive to you since it is a much less feature-full amp. Hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions or if you decide on a particular one!

      I would say that if the "home" factor means you have to limit the volume of the amp, then the Mark V 25 might be the way to go because: 1) it has a power down switch to 10W, and 2) it has a built-in cabclone, which in theory allows you tu use headphone or use it through a recording interphase with monitor speakers. The Fillmore lacks both of those features.

      I never dared buying an amp with fan(!) for home usage... the addednoise would irritate me and the mics.
      It's a shame the the Mark V 25 & 35 have a fan, which is not switchable!
      So I reckon the Fillmore 25 does not have a fan?

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  5 років тому

      Pretty darn versatile, Tricko... :) Between the Drive and Hi modes, there's some solid coverage of clipped and bluesy overdrive to singing classic Boogie lead tones and even some vintage gutsy rock, especially if you have a closed back cab doping some low end pushing. The channel and mode configuration keeps things simple but the modes and gain/Tone controls cover some pretty extensive ground.

      Hi David - The Fillmore 25 sounds great at lower or higher volumes. Plenty of sweet tones available for home playing and the Drive mode in particular allows you to dial in a huge range of great sounds between clean and clipped and bluesy overdrive sounds while the Clean and HI modes handle the extremes. This amp can be great at home or on a small to medium gig!
