    Hey Sam, good video review.
Unfortunately for me my vision isn’t well enough to be able to use it but interesting to know that the features that it has and improvements that have been made.
I was about to ask you about this issues for a PC and then you said the only thing that was left is your final thoughts on product well, you asked that question pretty clearly the lag time would not make it good for using with a PC or gaming which That would strike it from something that I might try it and that kind of situation to use but appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for another good review. Keep up the great work.

I like Pixel phones. Curious if the user has full access to the Android OS, or if it's locked down.

Have you tried to use a video game consol with the vision cast? I'm thinking about using something like that to use my Steam Deck so I don't have to hold it to my face all the time.

Very interested in this! My IrisVision Live (first edition) seems to be wearing out since I use it so much and have had it over four years. Thanks for the review!

Sam, what is the refresh rate like when using it to look around? As you look around, does it take extra time for the image to catch up to where you move your head/view?

I’ve had this Iris product. In my humble opinion, the technology is not up to the task for long-term use-the battery life is very short. The phone tech and software quality needs to be updated or not so sensitive. There is too many little issues to deal with for it to be worth Using or paying the money for. Mine was well over $2400 and unfortunately I did not find it at all functional. I would not recommend this product for people who want to read a newspaper. It’s also very compassing and as I said, sensitive and breaks easily.the people at Iris vision should consider upping their game. With the technology that is out there today - one is better off just working with your iPhone. Not a really great product for the community.

Only a App on an old Smartphone in a old Samsung Gear VR (or other "Google Cardboard", Gear VR used, perhaps 10 dollars on ebay etc.).
What about the other IrisVision glasses that look like sunglasses?

I have the original IrisVision I got back in 2018 with the Samsung phone. This new updated device looks impression. Not sure if I like the idea of losing the controls on the side. Would like to know how others have adapted to that change?

To be honest, I'd rather just have the phone without the reprogramming. If the headset could still be recognized by the phone, then I could dev apps for it just like any other Android, and it could employ Google's Lookout app, which has a fairly decent explore mode. As it stands, this tech isn't really applicable to full blind users like myself.

Sam, you're the man! One question… Overall would you recommend the Live 2.0or the Inspire model?

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  2 місяці тому

If your vision is better than 20/200, then the inspire would probably be fine for you. Over 20/200, it’s no good at all and I would definitely recommend the live 2.0.

@@theblindlife one of my eyes is correctable to 20/200 but the other is not… So great advice, as always, Sam! Keep doing what you're doing.... One other thought… Have you use the Apple Pro Max at all? I'm thinking that might one day be an amazing product for us blind folks. All we really need is magnification and brightness! Thoughts?

It isn't obvious to me the value of this device for me. Lots of functionality is already available to me via accessibility apps on my phone. And those apps are of no additional cost to me. I've already paid for the phone for all it's myriad other uses. ANd then there is the weirdness of having the headset strapped to my head for some inexplicable reason. I'm sure this device costs a bit.
How does it interact with eye glasses? I'm aphakic, so my prescription is insane and I doubt any attempt to accomodate it would not be successful.

I wish they'd do nightvision on it. As a person with RP and having several children with RP seeing in low light or at night is super impossible. Of this device would do night vision so we could navigate to a vehicle or see if someone is outside it would be awesome! Also, if that vox would hook to the TV and display whatever is on the TV I could watch movies at tye same time as mu household. Is there any sort of program that could help make this affordable for a one income camily?

Hi Sam, i was just wondering if you or any of your viewers know of any devices that could help me? I have RP but have lost most of my central vision and still have some peripheral vision, which means I can’t see when looking straight ahead, I have to move my eyes to see out the peripheral. Have you any insight into what could help?
