Manan, I wish there was a way that I can help you but low vision care is something that requires the patient and doctor to be together for a vision evaluation. That is the only way to know what will help. I hope you can find help in Pakistan. Good luck.

Dr. Armstrong, My father has AMD. I am wondering if these glasses would help him. He is 88 years old. He sees a Macular Degeneration doctor regularly for shots in his eyes. Is there a doctor in the area of Havelock, Morehead City, or New Bern, NC that would assist him, at least do an evaluation to see if these glasses would benefit him? Thank you
Where can I get the glasses 👓 from??
These low vision glasses are prescribed by low vision optometrists following a careful evaluation of your remaining vision. With that information the doctor is able to prescribe telescopic or microscopic glasses which will be appropriate for your needs. Of course, I prescribe them. If you are not close to my offices in Virginia you will find a directory of low vision doctors at IALVS.com.
What are some options you would recommend for some one with keratoconus

Thanks for your comment. Helping people with keratoconus is something that I do not have any experience. Usually the treatment involves wearing a rigid contact lens. Possibly glasses in addition to the contact lens if the CL does not provide adequate vision. There are optometrists who help lots of people with keratoconus. You should consult one of them. Low vision glasses can help people with very limited vision but not someone who is totally blind.

Thanks for connecting. Low vision glasses are prescribed by an optometrist like me who will do a careful evaluation of the person's vision and their goals. There is no way of doing that by long distance. Unfortunately I will not be able to help your son. I hope you are able to find a doctor in your country who provides low vision care. Good luck.

I wish it was possible for me to help you but it is not. You will need to find a low vision doctor near you who will evaluate your vision and determine exactly what you need to help you see better. If you benefit from bioptic glasses you will get them from that doctor. Good luck.

There is presently no treatment available for Stargardt disease. If you can locate a low vision doctor in your country they may be able to prescribe telescopic glasses or something else to help help your children see better. I hope you are able to get help for them. Good luck.

@@dr.davidarmstrong5881 hello, Dr. Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I was not even given a chance with a low vision specialist here in Puerto Rico. The reson, bioptic driving is not allowed. So they said, but I looked it up and no specific law is written on Bioptic driving. I still want a pair of bioptics, so I will look around on eBay. Thanks for your time. I'm always happy to speak with people with low vision. If the person lives outside of the United States there is really nothing I can do to help. In that case the thing to do is ask your father's eye doctor or Google low vision. Good luck.

I’m sure they are. Try Googling “low vision “ or “bioptic glasses “. You may find a doctor who is skilled in prescribing help for people with impaired vision. Good luck.

It depends on how much vision the have remaining. I have helped many people with wet AMD see better with low vision glasses.
