I can only assume the reason why they held off on a sequel cause they were waiting to make Riley a certain older age to show much times past since the original since Inside Out take place in real world modern time.
I’m honestly surprised that Pixar is making an Inside Out sequel. At this point, I don’t know what to think and feel about it. Because don’t get me wrong Inside Out is a good movie. But I am skeptical and sort of excited at the same time.
This is a sequel long waited for. Can't wait for a official trailer and see those other new emotions. Out of any Pixar film Inside Out definitely does deserve to have a sequel.
The first movie was a huge sensation, getting lots of fan art on many websites about other characters' 5 emotions, and even getting parodies on TV like The Simpsons and Family Guy. It had so much feeling (naturally) and love shining through, and there are so many other emotions besides the 5 so there's fan art of what those characters could be like. So yeah, a sequel is definitely a good idea for expanding the world of Inside 0ut!
@@MineKurtMininerI think joy kind of represents courage herself Because when joy was happy she had courage that they would make it back to headquarters or that rylie would be happy again. Maybe an emotion like calmness or interest
It could’ve just been the lighting of headquarters, being night and everything, but all of the emotions look a bit older to me to correspond with Riley’s new age
A detail I haven’t seen anyone bring up yet: the console is NOT orange! It only turned orange because anxiety was touching it, once she took her finger off the console, it went back to normal again! 😻 That will be such a great touch, showing how (especially as a teenager), when one emotion takes over during a big event, every other emotion you feel in the whirlwind during that experience will be tinged with the controlling emotion. (And also corresponds to the way the control panel was greying out and unable to be used when Riley was sinking into despair in the first movie.)
I'm wondering if they will be exploring the concept of Riley having mental health issues like an anxiety disorder or depression and that's why they have given her more emotions than the other characters have in their "headquarters" I don't think Disney/Pixar has done anything about kids with mental health struggles yet either and that would be cool to see.
Let's look at what the main functions of the core emotions are to see how the new ones translate. Joy is the seeker of happiness, Sadness is the seeker of sympathy, Anger is the seeker of fairness, Disgust is the seeker of health, and Fear is the seeker of safety. Envy is wanting what someone else has, so Envy's role could be make Riley recognize what it is she wants. Like Joy, Envy is tied into the seeking of happiness, but in a less joyful way. Embarrassment is tied into the social poisoning that Disgust looks out for, but not everyone can see the red flags until it's too late, so maybe Embarassment's role is to make Riley recognize when she's in a socially poisoning state that Disgust didn't alert her to alone. Ennui is a fancy word for boredom, and when you're bored, you need something to do, something to stimulate. And when you're overstimulated, you need things to calm down a bit, so perhaps Ennui's role is managing Riley's stimulation levels, taking control when they're too high, and alerting Riley to do something when they're too low. Lastly, Anxiety. Fear is defined as a response to what is currently happening, but Anxiety is a similar response to what might happen. So, like Fear, the orange Muppet's role is all about seeking safety, but from all of the worst possible scenarios Riley can imagine.
Well, not everybody has anxiety or are embarrassed so it’s not that weird that the new emotions didn’t exist in other minds, the minds that were shown anyway. Just my theory anyway😅 Anxiety is basically fear, irrational fear🤷♀️ So maybe fear dealt with the anxious things in other brains. It is also alluded to that Riley is going through depression, even though the don’t say it. But that is what lack of emotion is, happy memories also get tainted and the reason why all the islands fell and it became darker, was to represent the darkness that grows inside you when you become depressed. Is my theory. I went through major depression myself when this came out, so it sort of became a comfort movie for me.
I feel like these new emotions will only show up occasionally as she grows older but will always be there during her teenage life as she's trying to figure out her life. This movie has alot of potential im excited for it!!!!!
I can't believe that even with four new emotions, Joy is STILL the only positive emotion in Riley's head. I know the message is thst negative emotions are important too, but what about Excitement or Bravery? I could totally imagine Bravery constantly trying to keep Fear in check. In fact, calling it now, I predict that in this movie, Love will show up! It's a movie about puberty, after all.
I don’t think bravery is rly an emotion tho? Bravery’s more like a virtue. I could imagine excitement being an emotion tho! Ik that a lot of ppl want love as an emotion but… I kinda feel like love would be interesting as a result of joy maybe mixed with other emotions, not rlly its own distinct emotion. Partly coz I think love isn’t always happy and joy srsly needs more to do 😭
What you said about no new emotions at the end of the movie got me thinking? You noticed that the memory orbs in the end credits weren’t mixed in different colors, they were the same color.
This is what I think. Puberty is a rush demolition job because the body doesn't quite have room for this new flood of emotions so they HAVE to shack up with the main crew. As Riley figures herself out, then there will be new rooms for the others. I doubt they go away. These main five just control the main console. And with the scrapped story, it was an entire network of emotions. As she gets older, Riley will be aware of different things so right now, it's chaos. We didn't see these emotioms before because they are already in their own departments coming and going.
Amazing video as always man! And yep, really hoping we get to see her emotions reflect her more. And that sounds good, those new emotions are things we need to control and live with
I don't think that Riley's core emotions will change...I think the only reason other characters in the first film had emotions that resembled them, was to try and distinguish them from the main characters...since from what we see, the emotions all have a very specific appearance that likely is the same for every person...so for the first film, they showed us basically the other peoples emotions resembling them to distinguish them, make them look different so it wouldn't feel bland seeing an exact replica of Riley's mind in other characters minds also...Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment & Ennui may not leave...we see that Riley only feels the emotion, when that emotion is using the console...so the other 4 can still stick around, without having to constantly be active in riley's mind and using the console...I mean Embarrassment is one of the new emotions that everybody feels
I think possibly the new emotions will have a separate center at the end of the movie for them to communicate to the main crew of emotions. Like down below anxiety may pop up with a message about how Riley will need to feel anxiety for some reason. And that one of the emotions needs to take up the task on how they are going to respond or feel about the anxiety that inevitably shows up on the counsels feed. Kind of like an ad does when it pops up and you have to either click the ad or x out of it
It makes sense for this movie to have a sequel, especially considering in the first movie there was a puberty button. You emotions change it’s normal even tho all the emotions kind of go hand in hand like anxiety = fear, but it was predictable for a second movie.
I like to think they will be temporary characters as they are all variations of the main crew but they show themselves in very different forms and sensations, and Riley will have to learn to recognize that "anxiety" is a form of fear. "Envy" is a form of disgust and sadness and perceived joy. "Ennui" is shutting down from the onslaught of stimuli and is a form form sadness, disgust and maybe a hint of anger. "Embarrassment" is a form of disgust and anger.
Ennui huh? I have been that way for years 😑 especially after my group of friends began to pair off or find more fulfilling jobs. Responsible and admirable as they were I still felt empty and aimless for the longest time before I finally understood what a fulfilling hobby was. So I eventually learned to live/embrace it and deal with it one day at a time 😁
I have a theory about this movie; i think every age or stage of every single person have the 5 main emotions as well as they're own emotions like in Riley 4 new emotions add up but in other person's mind was have a different emotions depending on what state they are in. So if im one of the character, i obviously might have the 5 main emotions as well as my other emotions in my stage(teenage).
A new emotions vs old emotions struggle could absolutely be the whole point but I think I would have rather used these new emotions as new aspects of the old emotions that they discover in themselfs. So they too become a bit more complicated, much like Riley does.
Maybe Ennui is only present in people experiencing depression or some sort of thing like that, anxiety obviously only in people with anxiety, embarrassed only in insecure people and envy only in people who are like in a position of which they're jealous of others. These things can exist in older people ofc, but could be more primarily associated with teenagers who maybe don't really fit in
My theory is these original emotions are foundational. Whilst the new emotions are temporary emotions that go onto live on other islands or something, living more stable in their own place.
Kind of like a basement level. I bet you the parents had these emotions in the first film but they just weren’t showing up because they didn’t see anything wrong with the move to the new state
Yeah I feel like anxiety is derived from fear. Anxiety disorders, on the other hand, are something completely different but not necessarily a new emotion -- more like a glitch with the fear emotion. That's just my take on it. I feel like the other three emotions can be derived from the main 5 as well. Boredom might be the only one that really makes sense. Idk. What do you guys think?
As a teenager she is more complex and so sub emotions are added that are related to but different from the main emotions. I am glad they added anxiety as anxiety plays a major role in your teenage years and anxiety is a sub emotion or relative emotion to fear but still a separate emotion. I really hope they do a respectable job with the puberty theme because a great female puberty movie for kids would be great as that Red Panda Disney movie was absolutely horrendous sexist insulting and terrible. I am looking forward to this
I think they hadn’t planned to make a sequel but because talking about Anxiety and talking about feelings is very popular right now, they are probably trying to surf on the hype. The whole point of the first movie was that the five main emotions could merge to make a new emotion (nostalgia is the main one shown in the movie), so envy, boredom, anxiety should also be a mix of the five mains. (Also, anxiety is not an emotion)
Well sure it’s not a real emotion but it’s still an extended version of fear. Kinda how like depression is an extended version of sadness. But sometimes teenagers go through anxiety all the time and I don’t think that fear and anxiety are the same thing. Fear is an emotion you feel in present time like when you watch a scary movie but anxiety is an emotion you feel for when something bad will happen like a school project or your in trouble

I think overall this movie will be about the struggles and changes that come with puberty and getting older. And I'm all for it. I can't wait to see it💖💖💖
Thanks for talking about this trailer. I've been so excited for this movie since it was announced. I think you concept of the other emotions coming and going is interesting, but lets be real these emotions never go away when we are older. I think that with all the new emotions, Joy and the others will feel unneeded and useless. So they needs to learn how to work around the other new emotions so they can do there jobs Either way, whatever happens I am excited for this movie
I think the reason why the new emotions were in in the heads of the adults or the dogs or anything is because the creators didn't think of these emotions before they made the first movie and they're creating these motions for the second movie I mean that's the only reasonable answer plus I had no idea about this teaser poster I literally watched the trailer for it the other day
When the first Inside Out movie came out I remember reading an Inside Out choose your own adventure book. In that book the emotions decide to send two people out of HQ to get rid of an annoying memory that keeps popping up. They figure that it can't be Joy and Sadness because of what happened in the last movie. However they ignored one important thing, just because it can't be Joy AND Sadness, that doesn't mean that it can't be Joy OR Sadness. I talking about it with some people and I said that I wanted to see "Logic" in the next one. Logic is black and white, and in my mind looks like a tall, thin man. Remember that she has some emotions that seem to be male: Fear and Anger, and some that seem female: Joy, Sadness, Disgust. So having another "male" emotion, would make sense. Also stereotypes say that men are more logical and rational, while females tend to be more emotional. So imagine that each emotion made a list of rules for Logic to follow. Fear and Disgust could leave HQ for a day and Logic could follow a list of rules that they have given him. Likewise Sadness could be allowed to leave for short periods, so long as there isn't a move or a divorce, or a death while Sadness is gone. Obviously these new emotions weren't there because they hadn't been designed yet. However there is also lots of room to move around, and they could have just been elsewhere within the adult minds.
I think the new emotions are the secondary emotions of the primary emotions Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disguist, Anger. I think Anxiety is a secondary emotion of Fear. That's what I think about the new emotions in the new movie
Maybe these other emotions aren't in other heads because they could be "special" like everyone experiences these things like anxiety and boredom as teens and that why they're so similar to the original ones BUT maybe these ones are just more specific because Riley actually has some mental illness like anxiety and depression.
I know why Riley has those emotions and not the parents. I'm guessing that the emotions in Riley are for a teenager, and they will stay for a limited time. By the time Riley is 18 or 19, the teenager emotions are most likely going to leave, which is a reason why Riley's parents don't have those emotions anymore. Besides, I don't think an adult would be having teenager emotions at 25.
I have a random theory, what if there's 'more' emotions, you know how at the end of inside out 1 they were able to 'mix' basically, what if like ennui and sadness touch the keyboard thing (I can't remember what it's called) and make depression or fear and anxiety make panic attacks or something like that but that's just a theory
I have a therory. Riley gets new emotions because she gets bullied Shes 13, and she dont have friends, only she and her parents. Why the new emotions are only negative? Bullying. Shes getting bullied. Therory2: those emotions are just here for a short time, in the time of puberty.
I bet RIley's mom or dad will bring up Bing Bong or find a picture of him, and he will reappear and help Joy (he'll look slightly different because she forgot what he initially looked like).
I think some of the new emotions might in the end move to a new part of the brain like maybe the subconscious or either be in control of specifically the abstract or logical side which would have stations elsewhere in the brain.
What of the reason we didn't see the other emotions inside out was because of rileys age it would make since for some of those emotions not to develop till later. And maybe riley because she didn't have them yet couldn't recognize them yet in others
I feel like the reason y other characters didn't have the new emotions is because the movie was from rileys point of view and because she didnt have the emotional maturity she didnt fully understand how other people were feeling
Exactly! I bet the parents did have these new emotions in the first film but just as neighbors. Like they probably lived in the basement level of headquarters.
I think as you grow up, you learn to work through all those other emotions through therapy or just growing up or even medication for some people so I think those emotions are there they’re just taking a backseat. Only show up when Riley feels that way. But through puberty and probably high school they’re going to be around for a long time.
my guess is that the 4 new emotions will help the other 5 over the roughly 5 years, to make the 5 emotions and headquarters be more like Riley and when Riley hits age 18, they get their bags, wish the others good luck, and leave headquarters
Or they just don’t always control her. Maybe they do stay but just don’t stay in the headquarters room. Because even as adults we all feel anxiety and the rest of these emotions. I bet they were still inside the parents heads in the first movie but since the film mainly focuses on Rylies mind it doesn’t show them on screen
This is the best breakdown I’ve seen of this trailer! Inside Out is my favorite movie and I’m so excited it’s getting the sequel it was set up for! I can’t wait to see where the new story goes😁
Fear is basically you being scared or afraid of something like a scary movie or going through a haunted house. Anxiety can be used for any purpose. School projects, a first sleepover. First job. It’s like being nervous about something that’s not in front of you but you know it will be something to worry about. Your not scared of it but your anxious about doing it
It could be that we don't see the new emotions in Mom/Dad/etc because we're seeing emotions through the scope of a child (ie: through Riley's eyes) the other ones COULD be in the other minds like they could be background players.
Anxiety brought suitcases, which could imply that she’s just visiting. That could also be the case for the other visitors. Riley’s parents have overcome or learned how to deal with the new emotions that enter Riley’s headquarters in puberty. That’s why we don’t see them in their heads.
That's what I was thinking.
that also might be why he called them CORE emotions
This makes sense.
I thought that the suitcases were meant to represent the emotional baggage that anxiety brings. But anyway your theory is good aswell.
So….. riley is a part of lgbtq+?
I really think Anxiety will be eventually integrated into Fear, Envy into Anger, Embarassment into Disgust and Ennui into Sadness
that sounds pretty amazing...but, its more then likely possible that they simply will go and take a back seat
riley only feels the emotion when they use the console, so if the 4 new ones aren't using the console they can be anywhere else in riley's mind during that time

This is a sequel long waited for. Can't wait for a official trailer and see those other new emotions.
Out of any Pixar film Inside Out definitely does deserve to have a sequel.
I wanted courage instead of anxiety
@@ZanderHanna I feel like courage should be separate so it can balance with fear and disgust
Mostly fear
YES!!!!!!
It could’ve just been the lighting of headquarters, being night and everything, but all of the emotions look a bit older to me to correspond with Riley’s new age
thought it was just me lol
I have high hopes for this one! Hopefully it will pull Pixar out of its slump!
pixar isnt the problem i think it disney
I like the idea that there is a whole network of emotions. That seems like a fascinating concept!
Amazing video as always man! And yep, really hoping we get to see her emotions reflect her more. And that sounds good, those new emotions are things we need to control and live with
i am more intrigued about that laugh at the end of the trailer
like who is that?
and evil emotion?
anxiety?
I don't think that Riley's core emotions will change...I think the only reason other characters in the first film had emotions that resembled them, was to try and distinguish them from the main characters...since from what we see, the emotions all have a very specific appearance that likely is the same for every person...so for the first film, they showed us basically the other peoples emotions resembling them to distinguish them, make them look different so it wouldn't feel bland seeing an exact replica of Riley's mind in other characters minds
also...Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment & Ennui may not leave...we see that Riley only feels the emotion, when that emotion is using the console...so the other 4 can still stick around, without having to constantly be active in riley's mind and using the console...I mean Embarrassment is one of the new emotions that everybody feels
You emotions change it’s normal even tho all the emotions kind of go hand in hand like anxiety = fear, but it was predictable for a second movie.
yup. I'm excited for this!
Whoa! I think I smell some "Turning Red" points in this movie!
Ennui huh? I have been that way for years 😑 especially after my group of friends began to pair off or find more fulfilling jobs. Responsible and admirable as they were I still felt empty and aimless for the longest time before I finally understood what a fulfilling hobby was. So I eventually learned to live/embrace it and deal with it one day at a time 😁
@@CRUMBSCAKES-kr6yl thanks 👍
I bet you the parents had these emotions in the first film but they just weren’t showing up because they didn’t see anything wrong with the move to the new state
@@ZanderHanna who knows maybe? 🤷♀️
Anxiety isn't an emotion just the symptom of an emotion of fear
Yes but since adults don't have these new emotions they likely gain strength in teenage years to be their own emotions and then go away at the end
no it's not. they may have similarities but they are two different things.
I am looking forward to this
Fear= being rationally scared
Anxiety= being irrationally scared
Some people have a mayor inside their head
Fear is an emotion you feel in present time like when you watch a scary movie but anxiety is an emotion you feel for when something bad will happen like a school project or your in trouble
it is an emotion depending on how you say it like 'i have anxiety' that means the disorder but if you say 'i feel anxious' that's the emotion.

LOVE your videos isaac! Been waiting for this! You're the best!😊😊😊😊
What I'm wondering is, why envy has sparkling eyes?
In anime, it is a common thing that eyes sparkle when the character sees something they like/love, so maybe envy is meant toreference that
@@milanbeerepoot4260 perhaps.
@@christianparrish3292 envy is basically your kind of jealous of that person and you think they have a lucky life.
Ennui was one of the concept emotions from the planning stages of the first movie. It's explained further in the extras on the blu-ray.
I think overall this movie will be about the struggles and changes that come with puberty and getting older.
And I'm all for it.
I can't wait to see it💖💖💖
Yes maybe even talk about periods, pop poles and other hormonal stuff that coroly with being a teen.

Thanks for talking about this trailer. I've been so excited for this movie since it was announced. I think you concept of the other emotions coming and going is interesting, but lets be real these emotions never go away when we are older. I think that with all the new emotions, Joy and the others will feel unneeded and useless.
So they needs to learn how to work around the other new emotions so they can do there jobs
Either way, whatever happens I am excited for this movie
I think the reason why the new emotions were in in the heads of the adults or the dogs or anything is because the creators didn't think of these emotions before they made the first movie and they're creating these motions for the second movie I mean that's the only reasonable answer plus I had no idea about this teaser poster I literally watched the trailer for it the other day
i absolutely love Anxiety. She is played by Maya Hawke so i absolutely love her.
Inside the adults minds you can see pink and orange and teal memories
3:24 Thats what I've been wondering.
Isaac Carlson do you have plans to do a video on South Park: Joining The Panderverse sometime soon?
I think the new emotions are the secondary emotions of the primary emotions Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disguist, Anger. I think Anxiety is a secondary emotion of Fear. That's what I think about the new emotions in the new movie
Honestly I looking forward to see this film
Is it only me or that new orange emotion looks like rare wubox from msm?
Well at least the theory about Riley missing a emotion was proven correctly right and nowonder bing bong had orange on his flower

Not really. It’s more of how they feel
Wow I was not expecting a dries up Goomba in this.
Damn you didn't have to do anxiety so dirty 🤭

Maybe these other emotions aren't in other heads because they could be "special" like everyone experiences these things like anxiety and boredom as teens and that why they're so similar to the original ones BUT maybe these ones are just more specific because Riley actually has some mental illness like anxiety and depression.
Maybe it's a side effect from what happened in the original movie. I'm sure that doesn't happen commonly, so maybe?
I’m ready for this
My brother is the director of this movie and I can’t wait for this! Next June can’t come fast enough
Makes sense
Fun fact, the human brain doesn't finish developing until 25.
Unfortunate life lesson, kid… none of those four ever go away. Not permanently. You either have to distract yourself or achieve something.
Riley gets new emotions because she gets bullied
Shes 13, and she dont have friends, only she and her parents.
Why the new emotions are only negative?
Bullying. Shes getting bullied.
Therory2: those emotions are just here for a short time, in the time of puberty.
To be honest ennui I wouldn't never guess if there could be new emotions, never heard it before
You should make a video of how the new emotions character traits play out.
SO excited for this one!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Inside out is one of my favorite Pixar movies so I can't wait to see the sequel.
I bet RIley's mom or dad will bring up Bing Bong or find a picture of him, and he will reappear and help Joy (he'll look slightly different because she forgot what he initially looked like).
His flower should get 3 more colors pink indigo and teal to represent the colors of the new emotions (anxiety's orange is already there)
I think some of the new emotions might in the end move to a new part of the brain like maybe the subconscious or either be in control of specifically the abstract or logical side which would have stations elsewhere in the brain.
Awesome review i always enjoy your videos
Inside out is Basically my favourite Pixar film Of all time
I was thinking that heart struck is an emotion. The passion one and the crush one
Wait if anxiety had luggage there must be houses for new emotions to come in there long term memory
I'm not sure if it will be good but I'll might give it a try
I think as you grow up, you learn to work through all those other emotions through therapy or just growing up or even medication for some people so I think those emotions are there they’re just taking a backseat. Only show up when Riley feels that way. But through puberty and probably high school they’re going to be around for a long time.
my guess is that the 4 new emotions
will help the other 5 over the roughly 5 years, to make the 5 emotions and headquarters be more like Riley
and when Riley hits age 18, they get their bags, wish the others good luck, and leave headquarters
@@ZanderHanna maybe the other emotions merge into the original 5 becouse the new 4 seem like of an outfit of one of the 5 exept joy
That new emotion on the thumbnail that’s called inclusive.
This is the best breakdown I’ve seen of this trailer! Inside Out is my favorite movie and I’m so excited it’s getting the sequel it was set up for! I can’t wait to see where the new story goes😁
I’m excited for this one
What's the difference between anxiety and fear isn't anxiety just a form of fear?
Fear is basically you being scared or afraid of something like a scary movie or going through a haunted house. Anxiety can be used for any purpose. School projects, a first sleepover. First job. It’s like being nervous about something that’s not in front of you but you know it will be something to worry about. Your not scared of it but your anxious about doing it
It could be that we don't see the new emotions in Mom/Dad/etc because we're seeing emotions through the scope of a child (ie: through Riley's eyes) the other ones COULD be in the other minds like they could be background players.
Thanks Isaac! Now i'm more excited For it!
I can't wait to see the new part of this 😊😊
So excited for this
I love that Anxiety literally walks in with a bunch of "baggage." Hilarious visual metaphor.
Anxiety and fear are going to be besties
Oh that's good! I didn't even think of it like that when I first watched it
If Bing Bong doesn't make an appearance I'm writing a ginormous complaint letter.
for example:its going to be out at unknown month and 2024
The weird thing is that anxiety is basically fear
riley: getting all these emotions at 13
me: 11 nd having these ‘new‘ emotions almost taken over me
the fact i got a inside out add before the vid thats so rare
My favorite emotion is the pink one
I'm thinking some fuse together making the original emotions more complex
