I saw this show . . . @ THE LATIN QUARTER on DETROIT, MICHIGAN
1980 & again in 1981 !!!
This is where & when his Finale was
' JAM' !'
PEOPLE WOULD NOT LEAVE .
He did THREE ENCORES !
'PURE DYNAMITE '
LOCOMOTIVE SOUL I AM TELLING
YOU ARE LEFT ALL OF THE HAIRS STANDING and GOOSEBUMPS!
YOU CANT BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE SEEING,HEARING, FEELING . . .
YOU ARE QUICKLY SENT INTO ANOTHER DIMENSION
of
THE SENSES !!!
Only. Seen. Him live one his the number one best ever soul. Brother with the greatest. Band hand down i love all his music
Noticed how when he first came on stage he looked and made sure everybody shit was togeather, pure GENIUS!
You see where Michael Jackson and Prince learned their moves from! Mr. Brown was a true legend!
I agree to the last two comments, Brown will always be not only my favorite , its true for most of my family and friends
Mr James Brown music will always be here.to stay still my main man ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Looks like the same band as in Monterey 1979. They were killing it. They did the best rendition of _Jam_.
You nailed it!! This version of "Jam" is absolutely SCORCHING---(KILLER band--JB ALWAYS had the very best musicians backing him!!)
Raw Untouchable genius! The BEST EVER PERIOD!!!!! No body even close.
the hardest working guy in show business
The greatest showman ever seen!
Thank`s for this ! Never seen ! Every JB concert is valuable .He should have been much more honored during his lifetime like Elvis . JB invented his own rhythm FUNK. He influenced and still influences the music of today . Elvis never wrote a song and invented nothing , but he had a great voice ...
because eñvis was white n james was black thats why
The best performer of all, Mr. Godfather of Soul.
Mr david Weston plays Goodfoot double tempo, no sweat, cold or otherwise, just hooks it and never misses, bar after bar no matter how long Mr Brown needs it go
Who were the other personnel?
NOBODY will ever surpass the greatest stage singer that ever lived. Period!
James Brown? Was the most Dynamic Entertainer in the 20th Century!!! Period!!!
This Video! Of a live performance by James Brown? Is the most enjoyable time that I have had since I 1st saw him in person in the early 1960's! Just after he released his live @ the Apollo album!! Thank You!!!
Fuck YEAH. Bring on the James Brown FUNK period...love it. That Mexico concert in '78 footage is pure gold as well..same with the Funk drop down in Zaire....Sweet ass shit man.
The most overlooked think about James is how dominant his talent was and for how long he performed @ such a high level. If u watched his career he just kept getting better & better before his age slowed him down! Truly the Hardest Working Man in Show business and it’s not even close 💥💥💥💥💥
1980 and still a vintage performance, I saw him for the 1st time about 2 years later, still with this set. Last time was about 2005 and still reduced me to tears with "Georgia" He will never be fully understood, he was a force of nature.
yup - I am getting old and my fascination with this cat from age 11 is changing but not lessening - in this show he lays down a Man's World version that is careful, as though he knows the planet would be sharing his board tapes some day, sharing every video & TV spot, which in the day there was no hope of. Here the day has come & Mr Brown has left an archive, with a performance bar set about as high as Duke Ellington's
b I'm the same you against them.
Word
James Brown was the greatest.
8 years later and you are still 100 percent right!
The transitions between the songs are the best.
Hands down james. Was. The. Best. Artis ever
Still listening in 2020 and beyond 👌🎙🎶 🧡
No one will every touch james brown. The man was a showman. And the best tete will every be!!!! Ron Smith
GREAT SHOW...JAMES BROWN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The late great JB may he (rip) was indeed the GoD Father of Soul
The "Hardest working man in show business", he was pure dynamite when I saw him in person in 1965 and did not lose a step in the 80's. Mr. Dynamite, Mr. Please please please", the hardest working man in show business. Not many people can claim they started a genre of music… James was pure FUNK!
I would of liked to of have seen James in a columbo Episode like Jonny cash did. Great performance.😊
I was just watching that episode of Columbo. Top 3 episodes

Thank you for the Smile you put on me Today.... Happy Hoildays and A Blessed New Year. :)
Yeah, you should be able to find the CD on amazon. It'll say either 'Live In NY' or 'Live at Studio 54'. I highly recommend it especially for 'Get Up Offa That Thing'.

"Let's give a big round of applause to the undisputed King of Rock and Roll, the one and only, brother and Mr. Elvis Presley!"
James Brown said it.

Awesome!!!
'Nuff said. Nice pic. x
Q saudades,q tempo maravilhoso q nós vivemos ❤
it's a man's man's man's world
I'm not a fan of JB durin this period of his career. However, I think this is JB's best concert footage from the '80s. He sounds great, he killed his performance, the band is tight and the crowd was very excited to see and hear the show. I'll take JB from the 80s than anything that's out today. This show had no special effects, no 20 dancers jumping around just raw sweaty soul from a truly gifted dynamic live entertainer.
James Brown live in London 1985 was my favorite from the 80's
James Brown !!!! Foi fenomenal, e serviu de inspiração parta alguns outros segmentos musicais, fortes atualmente ...
The camera crew didn't do a good job in my opinion. they should have pulled back when he starts dancing.
Sheitt man my grandad went to JB's 60's and 70's shows and my dad saw him later in the late 80's and 90's but I never seen him live, now I'm stuck in hell with Cardi B
the legend,the genius...
Butane James was and will always be the king!
Yeah ghana soul and Jon Wild - I agree. I first saw James in 1985 and he and that band blew me away. What is never mentioned directly for some mysterious reason are his cues ( to the band )- where and what do they come from? "Who can explain it"?! "he will never be fully understood"is right- and I think mainly for this reason! Magic- sweat, Funk- True showmanship - including the kick of the mic stand!
There's only things they go on that we will never know such as on all of his songs you always tell you what's the next record going to be coming out
I was at this show, Bonds International, Summer 1980.......
Jim Herro no,this was studio 54 but he did play bonds around this time also
🌞The Undisputed Top Entertainer of the world of all Timeline 😍😎💪😀🦶🦶👣👈👁️👁️🙏✍️💖💚💜🧡💛👑👑👑👑👑💎🌍⛰️🌏🗺️🗽🚀🛰️🌛🎁🏆🥇♥️🎶🎶📻
it's too funky in here
HOW YA LIKE ME NOW????MR DYNAMITE WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!THE LORD OF FUNK!!!!!!!!!

Genial James Brown el padrino del Soul 🎶🎵🎸🎙🎺🥁🎼
The GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My #HometownHero "JB" has got the sister dancing with the fan Hot. He was #Superbad!
He was already getting up there in age and he could still move like that he was a phenomenon and truly the light of soul music 🙏🌟💫💪 he will still going strong may still be moving like that and singing heaven❤ love his music there will never be another😢❤ Love The soul Man 🤗
I saw him the year he died. About 11 months before. Sure, he was slower but he STILL DID A KNEE DROP!
First saw him in 1969. James never ceased to be AMAZING!
Tempo bom curtiy muito agente era feliz e não sabia
Great sound, much better, but I still want to know why 'Get Up Offa That Thing' and 'Body Heat' are not on the video!
just gotta say, chadwick boseman nailed the incredibly difficult dance moves, and James"jawja"diction, should have been best actor winner......of course the music was dubbed, no one else can holler, squeal, and sing like the GFOS,grat movie........
DIG IT . ..
His T o t a l. C o m m a n d !!!
TURN THAT VOLUME UP !!!
YOUR VOLUME IS TOO LIW !!!
TURN THAT BASS UP !
FEEL THAT P O W E R !!!
' RIDE THE WIND !!!!!
STRADDLE THOSE JET ENGINES ,
CAUSE ,MAN, HIS NAME IS BROWN ,
JAMES BROWN .
The Sound is Perfect but I'm about the camera guy Is He Slow or Something No One Absolutely No One Ever Paid $1 To See The JBs While JAMES BROWN Is On The Stage..I actually had to get up and Do The JAMES BROWN My Damn Self..Love&Peace luv ya byo eJ 😢❤Rest in Peace MR.BROWN I Got This
Great show, but after all these years it’s still annoying that they cut out the best performance from the show on the audio release, GET UP OFFA THAT THING.
get on the good foot
was this at the lonestar cafe ? if it was , I was there with my girlfriend , we were just about right up front .. place was PACKED ...then after the show we managed to get upstairs to the dressing room, it was suprisingly empty and quiet , only BOB DYLAN was there chilling with james and a couple of james friends ...mr brown was real nice and welcomed us in( to say hello and pay our respects to the master..)
Credits say that it was at Studio 54, Ian Schraeger is mentioned in the final crawl.
ed cherry this was at studio 54 but he was at the lone star cafe a month or two earlier.
papa's got a brand new bag
É ASSIM QUE SE FAZ
It's too funky in here reprise
I dunno. I was going to but I got a copyright strike on one of my videos so now I can't upload long videos anymore = no more full shows. I might just make a new channel and re-upload all this stuff + new videos on there but that'll take some time.
make a public cloud with everything!
Papa's got a brand new bag
Yes
R I P GOD father of Soul
The more I come back to this show the more I believe that the person who stitched the film together did NOT like James Brown. Damn near every time he does something the camera cuts away.
give me lyrics from 7:11 - 7:50 PLEASE!I need it
John nie Taylor
It's just made up lyrics by him
Him mentioning Jackie Wilson amongst the rest of the deceased legends when Jackie wouldn't be dead for another 4 years is crazy. 😂 I know the man was in a coma with very few moments of consciousness since 1975 but dang. I guess to James it ain't make no difference, said "F it, he might as well me dead...GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!" 😭 RIP Mr. Excitement and Mr. Dynamite!
James Brown actually had a voice, to sad we heard to much of his rapping.
I'm not trying to put hate on him but, I'm not a fan of rapping, but I'll say this. He's the one who really is good at rap.
From 1955-1964 he had a lot of love ballads. Right before he broke out in to his own sound in 64' But prior to that he had Prisoner of Love, Bewildered, Try Me, Lost Someone, I Love You Yes I Do, Baby Your Right, It Hurts to Tell You, I Know its True, Love or a Game, I'll Go Crazy, Gonna Try, Your Mine, I Don't Know, Wonder When You're Coming Home, Just Won't Do Right, I've Got to Change, So Long, I Won't Plead No More, Hold My Baby's Hand, It Was You, I Love You Porgy, Is It Yes or Is It No, Maybe the Last Time, etc.
I hear you, but he always moved with the times and stayed fresh. The more rap / disco sounds of later days reflected this. He didnt want to get left behind, lose his audience and be a museum piece.
H Az Hard shot yo.
He invented Hip Hop
What are you talking about?.....James is authentic. Can you do the damn thing better?
Que música genios que no volveran
please please please
If you really wanna get in it.i seen em both .as a kid in the sixties Joe tex.man .Joe Tex.baby
Mr. Legend Brown have influenced everybody....from Miles to Michael
relatively young james bringing the funk what venue was this concert filmed in?
It's the gendary disco establishment Studio 54. JB's career was on its way back up, thanks to his disco hit "Too Funky" -- as well as his appearance in The Blues Brothers movie.
The Godfather at the height of his powers! Who were the band personnel at this point?
Jam
jam
He' 'ishouldwinagrammy', are you going to post more JB videos lol? Please.
