speedy9313 practice the picking part and fingering parts Seperate, with a metronome until you reach a good speed, then go beyond your expectation until it's just above the speed you expect to play these together..... Only then, try synchronizing them together. Did wonders for me, hope it helps.
To me is on the term "different scales". When you're playing one octave up you're still in the same scale. Anyway, I know this dude is is truly unique and I like how he approaches guitar playing.
I attended a summer “camp” with Ron many years ago. This exercise drove a room full of guitarists bats**t insane. It was absolutely hilarious! I still can’t do the entire “easy” exercise all the way through but it has stuck with me for 15 years. Thanks Ron!
The bublebees chainsaw sound is the second part , hopefully covering the metallic sound of the wooden gtr an removing some of the multitasked particles on to their rightfully earned spaces........! : )psst i havent heard a dobro with floyd rose yet ...; )
I think it comes down to what you're used to playing. If you're a classical guitar player pretty much EVERYTHING you play is going to have more than one line going on at the same time . .that's what defines classical guitar. There are harmonized first position scale runs like this in many beginner etudes; this is stuff you'd be expected to play after a year or less. If it "helps" I think when pieces have more than one line, its usually much less confusing to play them from written music rather than overtaxing your brain trying to create the patterns from scratch. If you write out these lines (with tab, if you must) then sight-read them, I think you'll get them down much faster.
By the way, although I think there is value in playing this as an exercise the way Bumblefoot is demonstrating, this is probably not the easiest way to actually play the notes. Refingering these passages using octaves sliding up and down the 5th (A) and 3rd (D) strings Wes Montgomery style would probably make this instantly playable by most rock guitarists.
Man, I remember the first time I heard something from him. It was Chopin Fantasie, a great piece of music in Ominous Guitarists From The Unknown... I found myself listening to that song occasionally, day after day... then I wanted to know who this guitar player was, only to find out he was the current lead guitar player of G'N'R... I'm a huge fan of G'n'R, but at that moment I was paying little attention to the band because it was so unstable, and they were playing the same old songs...but then, I started to follow the gunners again, just because of this guy. The one and only: Mr. Bumblefoot
Thal and Govan are arguably the 2 best guitarists alive. I don't know anything that they can't play and I only know of a handful that can play what they can. Especially when they shift to the fretless.
well i think he makes it look easy lol , but im having a hard time with it. i think mastering a trick like this will have a lot of benefits in the long run. after a day of playing it im able to play the two together in sink and also i can start one two notes before the other one but separating them by more than 2 notes is hurting my head, for now.
a lot to take in there! I really like that thing of building a chord involving the note you land on , im going to have to practice that as i know it'll take me ages to find them if i were to try it now
no such thing as being too good for them. if he didnt want to be in GNR then he wouldnt be in it. And he is able to bring a lot of his own style and music to the band and their audience.
Man seriously he's just the nicest most easy going guy your ever likely to meet, very very very smart to, no clue how any of these guys remember every note to dozens of songs.
1) They start young 2) They study full time 3) They play as a profession, full time 4) They keep practicing throughout their career 5) They have optimal biology for the instrument/activity/etc

This is a great lesson. I am working a book with a ton of exercises like that. 2 parts at once. This is really good though. I like the thinking about not thinking and thats what feeling "natural" is.
Not the same instrument, but an example of this used in a song is the bassline to Mr. Bungle's "Dead Goon," which is two C# chromatic minor scales, one ascending, one descending, played simultaneously and crossing over in the middle to end on an F#. #themoreyouknow
So many fun things you can do. Bach's Krebskanon is one instrument playing one voice and the other instrument playing the first voice backwards, for example.
I love slashs style of playing but holy shit!! Bumblefoot is so much better. He makes guitar sound like no one else. His solo shit is better than anything he did with gnr as well!!
I Seriously thought this was going to e some kind of chicken picking thing at first.....oh boy was i wrong. he made that Ibanez RG3120 sound like a damn Mandolin!!!!
that seems to be the key to playing a chapman stick...I've seen other people do this with that instrument as well as a guitar...not saying I can do it well, but I try to, and make a hash of it atleast
This guy and me have varying viewpoints on the term easy
speedy9313 practice the picking part and fingering parts Seperate, with a metronome until you reach a good speed, then go beyond your expectation until it's just above the speed you expect to play these together..... Only then, try synchronizing them together. Did wonders for me, hope it helps.
"Easy" is a relative term. What I find easy to play today I struggled with 2 years ago.
pls anyone tell me the exact series of ibanez prestige he's holding.. PLSS PLSS PLSS
To me is on the term "different scales".
When you're playing one octave up you're still in the same scale.

@@johnbraucher1499 I think he was referring to the play and talk thing that he's doing...Effortlessly. Lol. I wish I could do that.
Ron used to be my guitar teacher way back in the day and I still remember these lessons quite fondly. He's as talented a teacher as he is a musician.
What did a lesson from him cost at that time?
$15 for a half hour - back in the mid 90s
Cool.
+Jason Cha about £10 for half an hour I used to pay that for an hour from a professional musician in the 9th. hope bumble was good
you're a very lucky guy!
I kind of feel like I am watching the Bob Ross of guitar. Dude really seems to enjoy playing.
Play a happy little scale right there.
And then just give that scale another little happy scale friend. Nobody wants to be alone.
I want to hear him play a "happy little accident"
thought exactly the same
MusicWeaponsFood he talks like bob ross in this where he just drifts of into the universe
Just when I think I'm getting somewhere on guitar, Ron invents a lick that totally trips my fingers up! Damn it! LOL!
I attended a summer “camp” with Ron many years ago. This exercise drove a room full of guitarists bats**t insane. It was absolutely hilarious! I still can’t do the entire “easy” exercise all the way through but it has stuck with me for 15 years. Thanks Ron!
Very creative and interesting things to practice! :)
Check this guy’s other stuff out, he’s truly exceptional. Will blow you away.
Also happens to be a great dude.
i tried to 'just let it happen' and it didnt lmao
Yeah, I tried too but I just broke two strings and accidentally shit on my guitar.
+Guitar Whores haha!
Guitar Whores
you found the brown note!!!
i loled
just hope Ron gets good managing and gets talked around, get into stuff, projects and everything. He deserves it.
Let's start with a bumblefoot fan club. 3 videos in and I need merch. :D
Very underrated guitarist!!!
Excellent exercise.
Dude your amazing on guitar, I'm going to watch every video I find put out by you, thank you for sharing your talent with us Mr. Bumblefoot.
I would have never thought this possible. This man is one of the best
This guy is living on the other dimension that the term easy has a different levels of meanings.
I'M SPEECHLESS… THE MAN IS BEYOND ANY LIMITATION!!
Probably easier to separate my fingers and my mind with a chainsaw...
The bublebees chainsaw sound is the second part , hopefully covering the metallic sound of the wooden gtr an removing some of the multitasked particles on to their rightfully earned spaces........! : )psst i havent heard a dobro with floyd rose yet ...; )
This guy is good on an epic level. Way under rated player, writer, and all around noodler.
Scary good player.
"very easy"
"basic"
oh dear lord this guy..
+girugaymesh i'm having trouble playing the two octaves at the same time while focusing and he does this while watching tv x)
It is basic in the sense that you can easily understand the excercise in order to practice it anywhere. Not "easy" to dominate, per se.

girugaymesh i am having trouble not focusing
VERY cool idea!
Great practice!
You hid one cam into his awesome beard?
"This is just a very simple basic musical exercise..." and my brain blew up
Ron you are a monster...
Bumble foot's fingers has its own brain!! damn cool!
He's reminding me of the "Happy Painter" from the 80's. "Okay, we're gonna take a little Prussian blue on our brushes....a little happy blue, here"
Bob "Motherfucking" Ross....Couldn't remember his name for the life of me....Hats to you, sir!
Lmao a little Prussian blue
Like that shit, speedy? Lol.
I know your comment is three years old but I can't resist saying "titanium w-hite". Hope all's well!
He is awesome! Many levels above me! 🎸🎸🎸
Looks like a character from Skyrim.
Do you know that he is sitting down because he took an arrow to the knee?
+DAPBBROS He took a Fender to the knee.
LaBounti he is definitely a bard in a tavern shredding on a lute
hahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!

so glad to see that people know who this incredible guitar player is :) LONG LIVE RON THAL !!!
Yes Mr. Thal , I'll definitely gonna have fun with it . Smashing my guitar real hard
As an Ibanez RG fan, i'm totally happy to see Ron playing it. Ron is a beast!
Bumblefoot is a freaking Guru, man
Interviewer: Oh yeah? I bet you can't do 3 scales at once
Bumblefoot: Are you challenging me?
Thal and Govan are arguably the 2 best guitarists alive. I don't know anything that they can't play and I only know of a handful that can play what they can. Especially when they shift to the fretless.
Cool thng is, they are good friends. And have been for many years.
Before the internet, they were penpals. And shared music/lessons with each other :)
Now that is a very interesting exercise ! Wow!
That JS tech. Such a beautiful sound
Amazing player and also amazing teacher!
This just blows my mind. I couldn't do that in a pink fit.
scales + chord tip is pure gold!
Love your content. Wow someone who explaines slowly.
My brain hurts....
like a gumby ? :)
Wonderful inspiring tuition
this is not as easy as it looks.

This is why he is too good for the modern day Guns n' Roses. Let's see DJ Assba do this.
no such thing as being too good for them. if he didnt want to be in GNR then he wouldnt be in it. And he is able to bring a lot of his own style and music to the band and their audience.
he's kind of a weirdo, he's got that owen wilson in meet the parents vibe happening...probably not many people would be into that

Very good advise

MAD GENIUS GUITARIST!
I hate how many times he says "easy" haha. What a hero.
This guy is a cyborg.
No other explanations🤯
3:43 that first 4 chords sequence actually sounded like a medieval/classical song
Man I try and Try and TRY but this just amazes me that people can be this good. Awesome work. Wish I could find this talent in myself :(

Well when Guthrie Govan said tha Bumblefoot has better technique than him, I wasn't convinced. But after watching some videos, now I'm...
Where did he say that?
In some interview. If I'm not mistaken for iGuitar mag or something.

Mind fucking blown
