    Depends on if you’re actually skiing, or watching a UA-cam video of someone else skiing 🥲

    • @riseandalpine
      @riseandalpine  8 місяців тому +1

      So let's ask a more important question then... How many videos do we all burn while watching UA-cam videos?

    I'd love to be back at my ski weight. Skiing the bumps is heavy exercise, thanks again for the great content and for sharing your adventures. I love your mom.

    You are absolutely right. Skiing is the best work out. Look at some skiers today, they are in their 75 to 85 years. They're still skiing and I want to do the same. Fresh air, mountain hiking, ( a little ) is the best thing you could do for your body to stay healthy. God job James. Just looking at this video I lost 10 pds. Amazing.

      Skiing until 90 is all of our goals! I think the mental benefits and the happiness that comes from skiing goes a long way to helping people live long lives. Glad I could help you lose ten pounds behind the secren 😂😂😂

    I live in Australia. Hot place during summer. But I tend to lose more bad weight during winter. And I put it down to skiing. But you are right that there is nothing better when it comes to deleting headnoise and feeling well mentally. Skiing ticks all the boxes for me. The best I ever feel is whilst skiing. Keep up the good work 🤙🏼

    This was on Sunday the 3rd, I know this because at 11:09 I was in the small black SUV second from the left. Lol I yelled James like a dumbass, should have yelled rise n alpine, or ran up to you lol.
    I saw your jacket and new neck guard and a GoPro, was rushing to get up as it was 145pm and I wanted a few runs so I didn't stalk you like a cheaper 😄😆.

    Love skiing, ( btw seen 2 mins of the vid so far so no clue what it comes out being) but it’s sorta like a massive squat and using quads and balance so my guess is it’s gonna be awesome exercise

  • @tvk270

    I'd say it depends on how new you are. If you aren't staying on your feet a lot, you will spend energy on getting back up. And then there is just the question of "how hard do you want to go?", because skiing/snowboarding can absolutely be a leisure activity. For the most part though, skiing/snowboarding is definitely an exercise

    • @riseandalpine
      @riseandalpine  8 місяців тому +1

      100%. If I'm going hard I'm gassed but if I put on cruise control it's a walk in the park. Super nice to be able to control the amount you exert depending on what you're feeling and the snow conditions.

    Yeah I ski around 20 days a year in Colorado, I never really lost weight until I stopped drinking. The 2-3 beers apres ski basically negated any benefits I was getting from skiing. Now though, I definitely dropped 5-10 lbs last season. Miss the beer for sure.

    this reminds me of a video of a guy building a backyard rope tow: "Will 2hp be enough to pull me up a hill?" "hmmm so take 1 plus the cosine of the grade of the hill times mass times gravity, multiply it by the coefficient of friction of an average day's snow and of course the frictional force of the rope on the ground and.....--" "wait, the question i should be asking, do I think 2 horses can pull me up this hill??"
    the question you need to answer for yourself: do you feel gassed/sore/breathing hard after skiing?????

    • @riseandalpine
      @riseandalpine  8 місяців тому

      Quick maths 😂
      Love the backyard quick maths, rope tow algorithm. Kind of like when skiers throw some snow off a cliff before they jump to figure out if it will go... Skier science 😂😂

    Yes skiing IS good exercise.
    That said, you are not just skiing but also mostly TOURING.
    Now touring is akin to straight up mountain climbing while wearing weighted shoes, which is the most significant form of exercise i've seen outside of the iron man.
    So, is skiing exercise, yes. But you, specifically are TOURING, which is definitely high impact, high cardio exercise. 😊

    • @mathewmatu6094

    • @tarfeef101
      @tarfeef101 8 місяців тому

      @@mathewmatu6094"it depends". Hiking you carry less weight, usually, but touring is in winter so you care more about sweat management and shouldn't push as hard on the uphill.
      They're both excellent exercise, in any case
