When I was taught to shuffle sideways, like he is doing @1:54 , I was told to never cross my feet because if the attacker makes a direction change while my feet are crossed then he will get a step on me before I can change direction and catch up to him. Yet, the defender here is crossing his legs while shuffling sideways. Why is this? Thanks
That was a sideways run not a shuffle he misspoke I believed. But you sideways run in order to be able to run with your man but keep your upper body engaged on them defensively.
