Thanks for the info, I had know idea that I could get the adapter kit on Amazon. I just purchased a Champion 5500 dual fuel inverter generator. I have been building a shed for it, and needed to extend the muffler/exhaust about 18". I was tossing around the idea of taking it to our local muffler shop, and have them do the job for me. Now, I think I can totally manage this!
Nice.... that makes me want to install a muffler on my HF Predator 9000/7250 generator. Damn thing is LOUD when I have to run it during an outage, but it's sweet to be able to power my whole house with it.
The exhaust is short for a reason. You’re creating back pressure causing loss of optimal cylinder pressure. Example,Try blowing through a 10 foot tube compared to blowing through 1 foot tube. Your generator life will be cut short or ending up completely failing. Recommend is no more then 2 feet straight & no angles or bends.
Good day. I can't disagree! But to what extent and what is my cause is another story! I'm a business and only care about the customers. The exhaust I added is significantly bigger but I agree bends etc. Everyone hating this video. Maybe I should delete it and just focus on my charter Business? Yt doesn't pay anything. Idk have a nice day!
@ChaosExplained don't do that. Some of us appreciate and understand what your doing. I was looking for this exact thing. I'm building a boat and will have 2 of these gens. They are cheap enough nowdays who gives a A if it doesn't live it's full life. Personally my experience is most people who say don't or you can't are not doers. I've done lots of things people had something to say and I proved them wrong 90% of the time.
Making mistakes is what gives us wisdom, while I'm pioneering and making new trails while filming you was too busy watching it because you are afraid to try something new. After this video i actually ended up moving the generator to the aft deck outside due trial and error after actually trying. I hope you go find courage and face your ego, best luck!

I would not worry about back pressure. Runs good sounds great.

wrap your exhaust pipe with hedder wrap, we wrap our racing hedders to cool temps.
The thing is not just for sound. It's a spark arrestor to prevent fires.

That cone shaped screen is a spark arrestor. It does nothing for suppressing sound.
