I'm a 36 year old mom of two young kiddos currently living in Austin, TX. I started watching you and Monica in the beforetimes when I lived in Seattle. I lived in Seattle/Washington state my whole life before moving here last year, so I really resonate with the Seattle stuff. At first, I was drawn to Monica's lifestyle videos, but now I primarily watch your vlogs. I love seeing what you cook and the behind the scenes with how you enjoy travel and living wherever you live. Meant to comment last time you asked... I'm 59, male, software engineer and researcher, living alone on a 26' sailboat on a swing mooring in New Zealand - about as minimalist as you can get :). The beautiful location more than makes up for the inconvenience of living in a very small space and getting bounced around by occasional storms. I go ashore once a day in my dinghy. There's good community of other liveaboards in the bay that I'm in as well as a boating club for socializing, racing etc.
Pre-COVID I lived in Chicago for 16 years before returning home to NZ. Sold my house there a few months ago (top of the market) and now trying to decide what to do with my capital. AirBnB is a possibility I'm considering. Property prices in NZ are insanely high, but have started to fall a little this year as interest rates have increased.
I've been watching both channels for some years. Started with the main channel but I think I enjoy the vlog now even more, though I watch everything. Appreciate your work ethic, independence and entrepreneurial attitude.
A bit about me: I’m 27, live in Arkansas doing homesteading, but have watched you and Monica off and on probably for like…7-8 years? Originally from the NE but got married, had kids (best things) and now we’re figuring out if we want to do short or long term rentals on the side for passive income. Shelby, go to Whole Foods and in the freezer section get a box of Levain cookies. 8 pack of fully baked cookies you just have to heat up - they come out of the oven tasting just like fresh baked bakery cookies. Levain, in case you did not know, is a famous bakery in NYC known for their chocolate chip cookies. I bought a box at WF last month, OMG, delicious.

Hi! I’m 28 and live in Indianapolis, work as an ER PA. I think I’ve watched both you and Monica on and off since high school! I used to always watch on study breaks and now they’re the best things to watch to wind down after a stressful shift. I really enjoy the breadth of topics you cover! It’s really interesting to hear about things I wouldn’t usually be interested in, and yet you present it in such a chill/relaxing way. I also really admire you for being so self motivated, even in your vlogs you’re always talking about self improvement or ways to grow as a person!

For the press-ons and gel curing trend, make sure that the nails/tips that you use are clear!! It's so much easier to get gel extensions that are already clear and paint them! There's a risk that the gel will not cure underneath the press-ons and you can develop a reaction to UV gel which can affect your life in more ways than just nails (UV light adhesion for permanent retainers, surgical, etc.)

For the first time in my life I had the time to delve into social media and UA-cam and understand how it’s monetized and what it’s like to manage your own channel (shooting & editing video), and that’s how I found you. It just goes to show that although Our ages are different as well as where we are in life, we may have commonalties in other aspects of life. I'm probably not the demographic you would expect to follow you, but I discovered the UA-cam community around 2016 and I've been fascinated ever since. You and Monica and Casey Neistadt are the only "vlog" channels I've regularly watched. I'm awed by your work ethic. I love watching how your main channel has evolved to the very polished, mini-doc/reporting style you do today -- and you do it incredibly well. And I love watching your vlogs -- I think of you as the quintessential "Millennial" person, which keeps me up on the latest trends. I'm so impressed by your entrepreneurialism. And I love how real and down-to-earth you are on camera -- you don't take yourself too seriously and you're very humble for being so incredibly successful at a young age ... The outdoor deck space of the dome place is awesome. I could stay there for a week and just read and nap and enjoy the view.

I think I started watching you and Monica about 10 years ago since I think I was in middle school back then! No I’ve graduated from university couple of years ago and I work as an engineer and live with my fiancé in our first own home we bought a year ago. Hi Shelby, you can put your phone on a bowl of rice (not cooked) and leave it there for several hours. That should bring it back. Just make sure to get the entire phone under the rice.
Also, for the sim card, If you don't have a paper clip you can use the back of your earings to open up the little case.
The rice thing doesn't work and is bad for your phone. Y'all seriously need to stop spreading that crap lmao.

Monica's videos were popping up on my UA-cam recommendations and so I was introduced to her first. Then, I saw you in Monica's videos. Then I started watching your main channel. Then at the time when you had jaw surgery, I discovered that you also have a vlog channel. Hahaha. Gosh.
I haven't been to Vietnam but I've been to Thailand (twice) and Singapore, highly recommend Thailand as I just love it and would go back again, the people are so nice too.
I'm also not the demographic you might think is a fan of all the content you put out on this channel. I am 66, a full time artist, after owning my own consulting business for the US government in DC!! I love how "real" you and Monica are. I enjoy the varied content you do and have been watching for I think a couple years, about the time you had your jaw surgery. I enjoy how you include your parents on occasion too. I love how you and others are finding "vintage clothes" fun as those clothes are what I wore!!! Anyway, your journey is interesting to it seems a variety of ages, because it really is interesting!!!

I’m 32 just moved back to Philadelphia suburbs for a new job as a financial analyst after working in accounting for years but I majored in mathematics in college. I love hearing about all your interests from videos to Airbnb. I think I found Monica’s channel first and then yours but really started following in 2020 when I was working from home. I loved the Palm Springs Reno videos. Vietnam sounds amazing! I always hear people say how beautiful that country is and would love to travel there someday.

I've been watching Monica since the gymnastics channel days, which is how I found out about you. I started watching your videos consistently around 2 years ago. I am always interested in your insights on life and have really enjoyed your content, from setting up the palm springs house, to exploring the stock market, having doubts about LA, then moving around to figure out where you want to live. I feel like you've had a lot uncertainty previously, but you seem in a really good place right now. I live in Van, so definitely know the struggle of the weather being trash for half the year. However your apartment is truly amazing, and is a great thing that you can walk to your sister's, walk to little shops, visit your parents (although they're moving :/) . Hope u have a good trip to Vietnam, and excited to see what kind of life decisions you will make in the coming years!

I found your page by watching Monica’s travel videos and vlogs. The first one I watched was her and your dad’s Japan video. I love your family dynamics with your parents and siblings, I am an only child from a divorced home, so it’s interesting to me to see your relationship with all your family members. You parents are precious! I also like to learn about Seattle / west coast bc I have never spent time over there, other than a 3-day trip to LA. I love how independent you are, we are very similar in that way! For the next 4 weeks I will be going around and dogsitting for a few people, so it’s making me feel like when you didn’t have a lease and were traveling everywhere!
So jealous of your trip to Vietnam!! It truly was one of the best trips ever. Make sure you dress for the weather because it is hot and rainy around the time will you will be there. You didn't mention where you were going but if you have the chance do see Halong Bay. If you are in Hanoi see the water puppet show. If at all possible and you can add on to your trip go to Thailand for a few days. You will be so close and might not have the opportunity again.

Above the cloud shot was my view for years in my Laguna Niguel home. Actually the street was called flying cloud and the belief is the city called the street that because it looked like that above the cloud view maybe 4 months out of the year. Bummer was that was also my ocean view home... So it cut off the view of the ocean till the marine layer would burn off. Loved living there, I starting to wonder why I ever moved away!

Shelby! Just thought of a suggestion for you. You mentioned in a previous video you liked dual monitors after using them at Sam’s office. I use a dual monitor made by the company Mobile Pixels. I got the dual monitor screen. It literally attaches to the back of my laptop and the monitor slides out from the laptop and Bam- dual monitor! It has been great when I work in airports, coffee shops etc. when not in use, it slides back onto the top of the laptop monitor. Saves space when traveling and not having big monitors.😊

The wildfire smoke has made its way to Michigan and I see how it is here/can't even imagine how much worse it is out west much closer to the wildfires.
It's not as bad now that the smoke has spread East, but yeah... every summer now, we have to deal with smoke and bad air quality :o

I watch all of your videos, love them! Since you mentioned a few times in this video about your hair being damaged, I thought I'd point out a little thing I've noticed: you hold the curling iron on your hair for way too long. (I always have to look away 😳) Yes, I'm a hairstylist- you'll just need to pamper your lightened hair for a while, use a good leave in conditioner and just don't hold the iron on your hair for more than a few seconds. Also a Brazilian Blowout can restore all the keratin and shine back to your hair. 😁
Hey Shelby! If you are ever looking for something to do in Seattle, you should check out OL Reign. They are a women's professional soccer team and they play at Lumen! They have some of the biggest names in the sport!

I’m a medical student living near London, England (but I’m American). 🇬🇧🇬🇧 started watching Monica’s main channel videos, then found yours from there. I started watching your vlogs consistently when you started renovating the Palm Springs house (had a lot more time d/t COVID). I’m interested in doing some form of passive income like that once I finish school, because most doctors aren’t paid much more than minimum wage, despite our extensive education and insane school debt. Also we are the same age, and your lifestyle is very different than mine, which I find interesting.

I know you already figured it out, but for next time if you ever need to open the place you put a sim in you can use the tip of a stud earring! I never have paper clips so i always just pull my earring out and use it, it fits perfecctly!

Lots of pretty sunsets! Put your phone in rice to dry it out. Your hair was probably having issues because of the humidity, living in high humidity is awful for hair!

Can you do a video where you clarify at least roughly where you all have property. It's so confusing what you're visiting and what you own/rent.
They own the townhouse where Monica lives, and the Palm springs house that's on AirBnB. They rent the apartment where Shelby lives and then there is this Joshua Tree project that Shelby does with Robuilt, another UA-camr, but that's still just an barren plot of land.

I LOVE that collard shirt.
