I have an M-40 , and yes, they are heavier than polymer pistols, but the weight mitigates the recoil. Mine is smooth, accurate and reliable. I suits my needs just fine.
I also find the Firestar's trigger to be nice. The take-up to the wall is a little creepy. But the break is crisp, and the sight picture remains undisturbed through the break. It definitely feels meatier and sturdier in the hands than polymer sub-compacts.
Love Star pistols!! Have the Megastar, 30M and Firestar. Great firearms, inverted slide rails, 1911 manual of arms, beefy construction, easy to clean and maintain.
The firestars were way ahead of their time. Texture on the front strap and the back strap. A high cut trigger guard. On top of all that if you run out of ammo you can pistol whip some one with it.
Excellent pistols both. Firestar, Firestar Plus, A, B, Super, BM, PD, 28, 29, 30, 31 are all great pistols. 30 years with Star and maybe 3 issues. Beat that Glock!
took me a year to find a replacement for the slidestop on my .40 that broke in half...other than that i really like my star .40...i like the weight and how it fits in my hand
Tengo la M43 desde 1992, excelente, segura, le cambié empuñaduras por las de madera y punteras de fibra; con buen trato son de total confianza... y cada vez más caras (colección)... Saludos
I had M.43 for about 10 years. this was great gun. small, surprisly accurate, easy to conceal, 100% reliable. I shot several thousands thru it. selling it was great mistake. this is the most modern all steel SA pisol, great oposition to polymer modern crap.
I personally Love the Firestar! It’s a gun that I’ve always been able to shoot well. I’ve shot the .40 & .45 many times and I love ‘em. I’m only 5’5” and barely 100lbs but it’s still a really comfortable gun. I don’t really like the polymer guns. (Unfortunately my state has limited our capacity to ten rounds so the single stack doesn’t really matter now. 🤷🏻♀️😔)
I own a 1994 firestar it's in perfect condition and runs perfectly. The finish is awesome I think your right they are pretty strong guns thank you for the video.
You're missing the point. Firestar's were the first small full 9mmx19 locked breach pistols that were affordable. The other was the Detonic's pocket nine. It was as I remember a direct blowback. Kicked like a mule.
Nah! The Detonics Pocket 9was produced BEFORE the Star Firestar. The Detonics Pocket 9 was produced around 1984. The Firestar was produced in the early 90's.
I have a Firestar Plus and really like the size. It's fits right in-between my CZ Rami and CZ P01 and it's lighter than the Rami. Did you disconnect the magazine safety or did yours come that way on the Plus?
In fact I did, I was actually surprised it was on the list, at least the company as a whole. I dont know why it got such a bad reputation with fudd and othias. Its a tool that works, not the best, but works just fine. Glad gun jesus is on my side...... lol
Just a question: in the Netherlands, a politician was killed using the Star Firestar m-43. He was shot close range (1,5 to max 2 meters) trough the head. How likely is it, that the skull remaind perfectly intact? I mean, wouldn't his head be cracked like a coconut? I hope anyone can answer.
Im not sure I have the answer. A 9mm isnt the most powerful caliber for handguns. I know people have survived head shots from pistols. Here are a couple videos to look into for the answer. ua-cam.com/video/1dqUi01JVXY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/txOqq5D-oIk/v-deo.html Thanks for watching
It looks like they have been discontinued, there are some extended capacity mags for sale on GB. That is the only thing coming up in stock and many are saying discontinued
@@AthensArmory303 Sorry I am a complete newbee what is GB? Are they listed as Firestar Plus mags? Or are they for other guns. I read the beretta 92 Mags will fit.
Oh, no problem at all. GB is GunBroker. Its an auction site for guns and parts. Its like Ebay for guns. What I found was listed for Firestar Plus, I am unaware of any others that fit. Its possible, but I dont know
I was more comparing the weight to modern carry pistols. I find it just right, bot it is heavier than most modern pistols in my opinion. I like the ballance and ergo of them over most modern pistols.
They don't make them like they used to. S&w 59 series, Beretta 80, 92 series, of which I have two, they go bang every time. Never jam. Plastic is junk.
@@dlittle9556 it's all on the internet. Just type in shooting Glock in slow motion. You will see the frame bending. Might be the cause of jamming. Not a fan of plastic. Not to mention Glock charges too much for their guns, other companies are making Glock clones for half the price and making money. Palmetto State armory, Taurus G2,3, and others.
@AthensArmory303 You are correct. Also note that the Firestar Plus double stack is an aluminum frame vs steel frame on the regular Firestar single stack. Both are 9mm.
Always loved mine. Just felt so right in my hand. Loved the weight. And personally was deadly accurate and confident in it.

Probably one of the best values is the compact pistol world. I now have 3 and love them.

Thats awesome, I have been looking for a megastar in 10 mm for a while now. Those are hard to find. Thanks for watching!
@@AthensArmory303 only 948 in 10MM were imported. Pricy and rare now!
I bought my 40 cal Firestar in 94. Still goes bang every time. Just sad that Star is no longer producing firearms.
I agree, I like my stars very much. I would like to find the illusive 10mm MegaStar
I have the M40, which is chambered in .40 S&W, and use it as my carry piece ... It is heavy for sure, but a pleasure to shoot ...
I think they are great little pistols
The firestars were way ahead of their time.
Texture on the front strap and the back strap. A high cut trigger guard.

Facts, cant argue. I just bought another.
The star pd in 45 is awesome too.
I removed the mag safety on my firestars

Parts availability are the worst part of the Stars. I love them. And there are a few resources to get parts, but its hit or miss
This single stack contains 7 rounds only + one in chamber, there are 8 rounds with mag extention also!
Great gun!.. I'd love to find one at a LGS priced affordably.

Can you make a clip to disassemble and assemble every part of the Star Plus 9mm gun?
Let me see. I know its a pretty difficult pistol to disassemble.

Wanted to know where did you find mags for the double stack.
About 8 years ago, someone was making reproductions of them. I havent seen them for sale in a few years. Occasionally they pop up on GB.
I once owned two of the single stack 9mms. They were good shooters. Unfortunately, I had to sell them after acquiring a first gen. Glock 19.
Very cool

Where made the Firestar?
The Star pistols are made in Spain.
My Model 30MI is built to last and will cycle most any ammo.....

The Firestar Plus double stack has an aluminum alloy frame, with steel slide.

I believe the PLUS model is a double stack, and the regular FIRESTAR is a single stack
