For sure you can have the same level of enjoyment, you just need to dress appropriately!
Love your channel because it's about sailing in the UK and it doesn't need to be expensive to be fun. East coast seems to be quite challenging. We will soon be getting a 22 footer to sail in the Plymouth area hoping to venture as far as Salcombe on a good weather window. Sadly we couldn't find a reasonably priced used 30ft that didn't require tons of maintenance and improvements.

It had at times been challenging but overall we have enjoyed the east coast but that being said we are really looking forward to the south coast next season. We will be around the Portland area as a base but Plymouth is somewhere I have memories from as a child as my grandparents lived there, so will definitely be on the plans to visits next year. Hi, just started watching your channel and enjoying watching your videos.
I’m looking for a boat at the moment & have been interested in getting bilge keel one for sailing around the uk.
So out off interest how have you found sailing one yourself ?. Does it point well into wind & what was your decision to go with a bilge keel.
I guess being able to dry out in small harbours.
@@gaplife3611 hi and thank you for the comment. We decided on a bilge keel after choosing Benfleet yacht club as our first home, being on the east coast and hearing lots of people discussing the area a bilge keel was a no brainer. We are lucky with dancing bear as she has been set up better for up wind sailing having the mast repositioned helps with weather helming. Knowing we are able to sit on our keels does bring some peace of mind that if we get it wrong with the tides we can just sit and wait for the next which in video one happened when picking her up from her marina. It really depends on your location and sailing area.

G"day. In relation to tides, just make sure that your boat is not too high up on the bank and that the next high tide is higher or about the same otherwise you may not get off the bank.
