I threw the Phaze AI last night at my House League THS and put it away after 2 frames. Very Very strong mid-lane (early) and flippy strong back end. This ball reminds me exactly of the Storm Snap Lock. I have it drilled pin 2" above ring/Cg directly below ring (3.5" pin). This is alot stronger than my Summit Peak and I have the AI and Peak drilled exactly the same way. I would say the Peak is an exact step down from the AI.
Well it might seem like it on drier conditions. This is why we film on medium high volume because if there's enough friction, weaker balls look stronger than strong balls sometimes. This ball is very strong for Tobias on the house shot and has actually ended up being too strong for Zach to throw on the house shot, but with a little more oil on the lane, that tells the true story
Anyone know if this ball is similar to zen gold label? I’ve been trying to get a zen gold label but can’t find any at 14lbs. If it’s not similar what’s a ball almost the exact same as the zen gold label?
Probably not, I think this one will be quite a bit earlier, heavier rolling, and have a quite a bit different shape overall. The Stealth Pearl or Hybrid would be really close to a Gold Label.
Phaze AI is just going to be earlier because it's got a lower RG core. We filmed for Tobias last night and that's exactly what it looked like, just an earlier rolling slightly stronger Journey.
How did they "fix" the Reacta Gloss? Did they fix the sanding and polishing method or did they fix the product? And are you able to do a video on the differences between Smooth Edge vs Rough Edge and how to use them? Storm doesn't do a good job in their video explaining how to use them. Thanks
I'm not sure on that one. All I know is that the Gloss balls since like the TNT Infused last year have all been fine, which means either they took the slip agent out of the mixture, or went to a different but very similar product without it, or added some kind of treatment process to the end result . . I'm not sure. All I know is that it was made mention of, it's not like it just kind of magically was better and they didn't say anything. They knew there were issues, and those issues were resolved, but I don't know the actual details behind it. Very difficult to lock down without a setup like theirs and a lot of thought into the control process to make absolutely for certain all the variables are locked down. Rough Edge isn't as fine of a polish, so it's going to take more of it for longer to get the ball as shiny as the Smooth Edge can get it relatively quickly. Rough Edge is for when you want some shine, but still have some undergrit there, Smooth Edge is for when you want a shinier and slightly weaker finish to help with drier heads or conditions in general. I think it's important not to overcomplicate it too, sanding and polishing is a trial and error thing with the results you want. There are recommended steps for "optimal" results. Generally it's best accomplished with a spinner, so it's like 15-20 seconds on all "6 sides" of the ball with the grits you want to start with, then the same amount of time on each side with polish to finish it off. I might do a half and half example to show people physically what the difference is. Start with a 1000 grit ball, then polish one side with the rough for 30 seconds, then flip it over and do the other half with the smooth for 30 seconds and see what the difference is. As far as getting ball reaction though, that's probably going to be too hard to see or illustrate well on video.
Not really, on paper this cover is a lot stronger and the shapes are quite a bit different. The Scorpion Strike from Hammer is more of a P5 replacement/upgrade.
Those cores are already pretty strong and early, so it may or may not make sense, we'll see what they decide to do. Of course, I think most people will also take any excuse they can get for another PhysiX or Crux tho . .
@@turtled361 My favorite ball of the past two league seasons is the Dark PhysiX with NRG Hybrid .. overseas remake of the original (I think) just a solid dark purple color.. they’re still available to buyI highly recommend.
We all knew it was coming eventually, maybe they went pearl to better match up better with the ai setup? New compound looks cool conceptually hope it's good. After reacta gloss a lot of people are gonna be wary I think.
I think this compound is getting back closer to Step 2. I don't think Reacta Gloss would be so bad if they didn't obliterate the cover before they put it on there, get the ball super smooth by sanding and then turn it into a marble.
Thanks for this installment Luke! Looking forward to seeing this one roll once you get your hands on it!
AI upside down looks like roman numeral VI. I see what you did there storm
Ah yeah that's cool, not sure it was intentional but happy accident at least!
@LukeRosdahl it might be considering how the specs sound similar to the phaze iv
Could have name it Phaize
Eh, not really, this cover is a lot stronger than R2S Pearl, and naturally the specs will look similar with it having the same core.
You're giving Storm too much credit. They aren't that clever.
Love the colors on this thing
Love the content and all you do.
Thanks!
Appreciate it very much!!!
Really looking like a beefed up OG Zen, forsure going into my bag.
The scent is very nice

Love the video! Just earned a sub!
Thanks!! I have 1600 other videos for you to get through now looool . .
Luke, is the Phaze AI similar to the Hammer Black Widow 2.0 hyb for league play or enough seperation to carry both?
Should definitely be enough separation, BW is asym, different shapes, should be stronger too.

@@LukeRosdahl thanks. You’re the first person to tell me something. I will look into those balls and get one
How would the Phaze AI compares to Journey if both has the same surface treatment?

Could this be considered a Phaze V replacement?

I keep everything out of box finish
Luke - do you think they will put out an AI Physix and an AI Crux? I’m hoping so.

@@LukeRosdahl If they brought back the original PhysiX and promised even better carry I would instantly buy, no questions asked

@@LukeRosdahl Good point. I would think adding AI tech to the Catalyst core would force them to modify it to raise the RG first.

I feel like this could be really good…or really bad. 😅 either way I’ll be getting one most likely!
definitely grabbing one this year killing my wallet lol
It’s patriotic to stimulate the economy
Looks like a zen replacement for me
Should be close for sure.
